Rado’s 2025 Captain Cook Over-Pole, reference R32193018, pairs a 39 mm yellow-gold-coloured PVD-coated steel case and bracelet with a hand-wound world-time movement and a rotating city-name bezel. Rado announced it as a limited edition of 1,962 pieces. The package also includes a brown vintage-style leather strap, a pouch and a limited-edition certificate.
What is the Rado Captain Cook Over-Pole?
The new Over-Pole is a 2025 return of a Rado design the company traces to 1962. Rado says it reinvented the model in 2022 around its R862 Worldtimer manual-winding calibre; this edition retains that movement in a 39 mm case. The official US product reference is R32193018. Rado announced a repeat limited edition of 1,962 pieces.
The watch’s defining function is world time: city names on the bidirectional bezel are used to indicate time zones as the bezel is turned. It is not simply a conventional dive-time bezel, despite the Captain Cook name and the watch’s rotating bezel.
How the city bezel and movement work
R862 Worldtimer, wound by hand
Rado specifies a hand-wound R862 Worldtimer calibre with 17 jewels, three hands, a date display at 3 o’clock and an 80-hour power reserve. Manual winding means the wearer winds the watch rather than relying on an automatic rotor. The stated reserve is Rado’s specification, not a guarantee of independently measured running time.

City-marked rotating bezel
The bidirectional bezel has a black high-tech ceramic insert. Rado says city names are laser-engraved and lacquered to mark time zones; rotating the bezel aligns the city and time-zone information for the world-time display. The published material describes the mechanism but does not provide a hands-on setting demonstration or independent assessment of ease of use.
Case, dial and finish
Rado lists a 39.0 mm case diameter and 10.9 mm thickness. The case is stainless steel with a yellow-gold-coloured PVD finish, giving the watch a dressier gold-tone appearance while the underlying case material remains steel. The dial has a silver sunray motif, gold-coloured curved indexes, black world-time information and vintage-white Super-LumiNova details.

The watch uses a box-shaped sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both faces and a transparent sapphire caseback. Those construction details are Rado’s published specifications; they do not establish real-world scratch resistance, legibility or durability.

Rado’s US E-shop listing displayed a price of $3,200 for reference R32193018 when retrieved in 2026. That is a time-sensitive US listing price, not a global price or confirmed transaction price. A German listing displayed CHF 2,700, illustrating that regional listings differ; taxes, currency and market conditions affect what buyers see. Rado says the movement is tested in five positions and describes it as “Robust, precise, and guaranteed to perform thanks to rigorous in-house testing in 5 separate positions.” That is promotional language from Rado’s official US product description. It is not an independently verified accuracy result, and the published sources do not establish measured accuracy, comfort, durability or current stock.

The 39mm PVD-gold edition is therefore best understood from its stated features: a manually wound world-time calibre, a city-marked rotating ceramic bezel, a gold-tone steel case and bracelet, and an additional leather strap in the package. To assess it against another travel watch, compare case size and thickness, how each watch displays and sets world time, winding type, finish, included straps, production status, and local price and warranty. The available specifications do not support declaring a head-to-head winner.
