It replaces the familiar Arabic and Roman hour scales with twelve raised applied markers and adds a luminous lollipop seconds hand, while retaining the compact 6190 steel case, COSC-certified automatic movement and 200 m water resistance. “M.S.L.” stands for Mean Sea Level.
What changed on the Serica 6190 M.S.L.?
The M.S.L. gives the 6190 a cleaner, more instrument-like face. SERICA’s collection page shows twelve applied hour markers in place of the conventional Arabic and Roman scales used on the classic 6190. The broad-arrow hour and minute hands remain, while the large seconds hand is now a luminous lollipop design. The dial has a polished, enamel-like appearance.
The watch is offered with black enamel, polar white or storm grey dials. These are aesthetic choices; the published information does not indicate that dial color changes the movement or case performance. For a more overtly military field-watch layout, the classic 6190 retains the traditional hour scales. The M.S.L. trades that graphic character for applied markers and a more restrained dial.
SERICA’s Collection 6190 page lists the M.S.L. variants, and Hodinkee’s May 2024 introduction also highlights the applied markers and updated seconds hand.

How big is the Serica 6190 M.S.L.?
The stainless-steel case measures 37.7 mm across, 10.4 mm thick including the crystal, and 46.5 mm from lug to lug, with a 20 mm lug width. These are published specifications reported by Monochrome Watches in its 2024 launch article, rather than measurements from a new independent test. The dimensions make the watch relatively compact on paper; how it sits on a particular wrist will still depend on wrist shape and fit.
Monochrome describes a double-domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, a screw-down crown and screwed caseback, brushed surfaces with polished accents, a stepped bezel and lyre-like lugs. SERICA rates the watch to 20 bar, or 200 m, water resistance. The brand’s specification is not a substitute for checking that the crown is properly secured and the watch is in suitable condition before water use.

Is the Serica 6190 M.S.L. COSC certified?
Yes. SERICA says its Professional watches are chronometer-certified through collaboration with movement maker SoProd and the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). The M.S.L. uses an automatic Soprod M100-based movement. Monochrome lists 25 jewels, a 4 Hz frequency (28,800 vibrations per hour), a 42-hour power reserve, hacking seconds and hours, minutes and seconds display.

Monochrome gives the COSC tolerance as −4/+6 seconds per day. That is the certification standard reported for the movement, not a guarantee that every individual watch will maintain a particular rate in daily wear; actual timekeeping can vary with use and conditions.
Which M.S.L. version should you choose?
The family presents three straightforward choices: dial color, Bonklip bracelet size and crown position. The official product page shows configurations with the crown at 3 o’clock or 9 o’clock; choose the layout that feels natural for how you wear and operate a watch. The available sources do not establish a performance difference between these configurations.

- Black enamel: the darkest, most traditional-looking option in the M.S.L. lineup.
- Polar white: the lightest dial choice.
- Storm grey: a warmer, subdued alternative to black or white.
- Bonklip sizing: SERICA offers small, standard and extra-long sizes. The brand advises measuring both wrist and palm circumference and selecting the larger size if between sizes.
The official page identifies the black enamel watch as reference 6190-1 M.S.L. Avoid assuming that a strap’s 20 mm width alone establishes compatibility with the watch; the documented bracelet offering is the SERICA Bonklip.

When checked on October 4, 2026, SERICA listed the three M.S.L. dial variants at €1,190 each on its collection page. The official product page for the black enamel 6190-1 M.S.L. also showed €1,190, but marked it sold out and offered a waitlist. These are SERICA’s euro listings, not a guaranteed price or stock status in every country. No live third-party retailer availability is established here, so confirm the current listing directly with SERICA’s product page.

SERICA states a two-year international warranty beginning on receipt and a 14-day return period after receipt; it also says an order can be refunded before shipment. The product page says in-stock deliveries generally take 5–10 days, an estimate that does not apply to a sold-out or waitlisted watch. Check the terms shown for your order before buying.
What stands out in this redesign?
The M.S.L. keeps the practical proportions and specifications of the 6190 while changing its visual language. Its applied markers and luminous lollipop seconds hand give the dial a distinct identity without making the watch a new mechanical proposition. Hodinkee writer James Stacey described the redesign as “a move that is both strong and subtle”; that is his assessment of the presentation, not a claim of universal consensus.
