Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesIf you like the Tudor Ranger’s restrained expedition-watch design but want a different size, movement, look or price, the strongest clearly specified alternatives are the Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm and Seiko Prospex SPB155. Three more distinctive candidates—the Longines Spirit, Serica 6190 and Lebois & Co Venturist—also merit consideration, but current exact references and specifications need confirmation before a like-for-like purchase comparison.
The Ranger is no longer a single configuration: Tudor offers 36mm and 39mm versions, with black or beige dials and different strap or bracelet options. For a consistent benchmark below, this comparison uses the 39mm black-dial steel-bracelet reference, M79950-0001.
What the current Tudor Ranger offers
Tudor lists the 39mm M79950-0001 at a US suggested retail price of $4,025 on its product page, accessed October 3, 2026. The company notes that prices and models can change, so check the local listing before buying. Its satin-finished steel case is 12mm thick, with 20mm lugs; the black domed dial sits beneath a sapphire crystal. Inside is Tudor’s automatic MT5402 manufacture movement, certified by COSC, with an approximately 70-hour power reserve. The watch has a screw-down crown, 100m water resistance and a three-link bracelet with T-fit adjustment. Tudor’s current Ranger product page also shows the broader 36mm and beige-dial choices.
Tudor says the Ranger was presented in 2022 to mark the 70th anniversary of the British North Greenland Expedition. Its historical account makes an important distinction: the watches Tudor says expedition members used from 1952 to 1954 did not have “Ranger” on their dials; later Ranger models carry forward the expedition-watch idea. Tudor’s history page is the source for that brand account, rather than independent historical scholarship.

The Hamilton price is regional context, not a global quote: Hamilton’s pages can differ by market. The Seiko price is likewise the amount shown on its US-facing page at access. The three additional candidates were identified by a 2022 Fratello comparison, which does not establish whether a particular configuration remains available today. See the dated comparison for those historical candidate names.
1. Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical 38mm: the direct field-watch alternative
The Hamilton is the clearest choice if you want a conventional field-watch look in a slightly smaller case and do not mind winding by hand. Its 38mm case is close to the Ranger’s 39mm, and it shares the Ranger’s 20mm lug width. Hamilton’s H69409930 listing specifies a hand-wound H-50 movement, 80-hour reserve, sapphire crystal and 50m water resistance. The page accessed for this comparison showed CHF 620 including VAT. Hamilton’s listing for the H69409930 is the reference for those details.

Against the Ranger, the practical trade-offs are straightforward: the Hamilton is 1mm smaller, has less stated water resistance, and needs manual winding. Its longer stated reserve does not, on its own, make it a better movement; reserve length is only one ownership consideration. Choose it for the hands-on winding routine and familiar field-watch character, not as a spec-for-spec replacement.
2. Seiko Prospex SPB155: the sportier automatic
The SPB155 is another 38mm option, but its green dial, date display and more pronounced outdoor/sport specification give it a different personality from the Ranger’s clean three-hand layout. Seiko lists an automatic 6R35 movement, approximately 70-hour reserve, curved sapphire crystal, screw-down crown and 20-bar water resistance. Its US-facing product page showed $725 at access. Seiko’s SPB155J1 product page also gives a stated precision range of +25 to -15 seconds per day.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
That published precision range is not directly comparable to Tudor’s COSC certification: they are different manufacturer-published measures, not a shared head-to-head test. Tudor says its MT5402 is COSC-certified; on its Ranger page, Tudor further states that COSC permits an average daily variation of -4 to +6 seconds for a single movement, while Tudor insists on -2 to +4 seconds when its watch is completely assembled. That is Tudor’s description of its standard, not an independent test result. Tudor’s explanation is here.
3. Longines Spirit: a pilot-watch turn
The Longines Spirit appeared among the alternatives in a 2022 Fratello comparison. It offers a more pilot-watch-flavored direction than the Ranger’s pared-back expedition styling, but the comparison does not establish a current reference, configuration, specification set or price. Identify the exact Spirit model in the market where you plan to buy before weighing dimensions, movement or value against the Tudor.

4. Serica 6190: an enthusiast-oriented option
The Serica 6190 was also named in the 2022 comparison and is a more enthusiast-oriented candidate. Treat that mention as a starting point, not confirmation of present availability: the exact current reference, configuration and regional price are not established here. Verify those details with the maker or seller before comparing it directly with the Ranger.
5. Lebois & Co Venturist: a distinctive alternative
The Venturist is the third less-mainstream candidate named in the older comparison. As with the Serica, a model name alone is not enough for a buying decision. Confirm which Venturist reference and configuration are currently offered, along with its specifications and local price, before deciding whether its character suits your needs better than the Ranger.

How to choose among them
- For an uncomplicated field-watch feel: Start with the Hamilton if manual winding appeals to you. Its case is 38mm, its reserve is 80 hours, and its stated water resistance is 50m.
- For an automatic with a date and sportier specification: Consider the Seiko. It is 38mm, has approximately 70 hours of reserve and is rated to 20 bar.
- For the Ranger’s particular mix of restraint and capability: The benchmark 39mm Tudor combines an automatic movement, approximately 70-hour reserve and 100m water resistance, with no date in the black-dial format used here.
- For a pilot-watch or niche-brand direction: Investigate the Longines Spirit, Serica 6190 or Lebois & Co Venturist only after pinning down the exact current reference and local price.
Before choosing, compare how each case wears on your wrist, whether you prefer a bracelet or strap, and whether you want a date. Check local pricing and service arrangements as well: the available price figures above come from different regional manufacturer pages and are not a uniform-market comparison.
