Choose Apple Watch Series 10 if you use an iPhone and want the stronger all-round smartwatch; choose Garmin Venu 3 if you want longer battery life, more continuous sleep and recovery tracking, or Android compatibility. The phone check comes first: Series 10 requires an iPhone, while Venu 3 works with compatible iPhones and Android phones, with some feature differences.
In 2026, Series 10 is an older Apple model, not the newest mainstream option. Its value depends on the actual price and condition compared with newer Apple Watches. Garmin is the easier pick for people who dislike charging every day, but Venu 3’s calls and notifications still depend on a paired phone.

Garmin | ECG, heart-rate and irregular-rhythm notifications, temperature sensing and sleep-apnea notifications where supported. Check phone compatibility first
Apple Watch Series 10 is for iPhone owners. Apple lists iPhone XS or later, iOS 18 or later and watchOS 11 or later for Series 10 compatibility; verify the latest requirements before buying because they can change. It will not pair as a usable Apple Watch with an Android phone. Apple’s compatibility guide
Garmin Venu 3 pairs with compatible Android phones and iPhones. That flexibility does not make every feature identical across platforms: Garmin notes that some capabilities differ, and phone-linked functions such as calls, notifications and safety features require the paired phone. If you want calls away from your phone, Apple’s GPS + Cellular option is the more suitable of these two, provided your carrier supports it and you pay for the plan.

Battery life: Garmin’s clearest advantage
Garmin rates Venu 3 for up to 14 days in smartwatch mode. Apple rates Series 10 for up to 18 hours of normal use or up to 36 hours in Low Power Mode. These are each manufacturer’s ratings under its own assumptions, not results from a shared test; GPS workouts, display settings, cellular use, music, notifications and other features can reduce runtime. Garmin battery rating · Apple battery rating
That difference changes daily use more than it changes a spec sheet. Venu 3 is better suited to wearing the watch overnight for sleep, naps and wellness trends, and to travel or camping where charging is inconvenient. Series 10’s shorter runtime means planning a regular charging window, especially if you want overnight tracking. Apple says fast charging can reach up to 80% in about 30 minutes, and eight minutes of charging can provide up to eight hours of sleep tracking; useful as a workaround, but not equivalent to multi-day endurance. Health and sleep: medical-adjacent features versus ongoing wellness
What Apple Watch Series 10 offers
Series 10 includes an ECG app, heart-rate and irregular-rhythm notifications, temperature sensing and sleep-apnea notifications where supported. The ECG app is intended for people aged 22 and older and is not a diagnosis; sleep-apnea notifications indicate possible signs rather than diagnose sleep apnea. Availability can depend on region, software and eligibility. Apple’s Health integration is also a natural fit for people already using an iPhone-centered health workflow. What Garmin Venu 3 offers
Venu 3 emphasizes ongoing wellness and recovery context: Body Battery, stress tracking, sleep score and coaching, nap detection, HRV status, Morning Report and workout-benefit information. Pulse Ox is available where supported. These readings can help you notice patterns, but Garmin says wellness measurements are not intended to diagnose or monitor medical conditions. Its longer battery life can also mean fewer gaps in those day-and-night trends. Garmin feature and wellness information
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteNeither watch should be chosen on a claim of superior sensor accuracy: the available product information does not establish a controlled head-to-head accuracy result. Treat both as consumer devices, not substitutes for a clinician or diagnostic equipment.
Fitness and training: guided workouts or a wider app ecosystem?
Choose Venu 3 for built-in fitness structure
Garmin gives Venu 3 a fitness-first toolset, including more than 30 sports apps, animated strength, HIIT, Pilates and yoga workouts, adaptive Garmin Coach plans, VO2 max for running or cycling, workout benefit and recovery time. It supports cycling power with compatible equipment and lets users log perceived exertion (RPE). This makes it a strong choice for runners, gym users and people who want training and recovery cues on the watch without assembling a third-party app setup. Garmin’s Venu 3 feature list

Venu 3 is not Garmin’s specialist endurance or outdoor watch. Athletes who need deeper performance analytics, advanced navigation, race planning or expedition features should compare a Forerunner or Fenix model instead; Garmin’s running-watch range is listed at Garmin’s running smartwatch page.
Choose Series 10 for Apple’s workout ecosystem
Series 10 covers general exercise and recreational running, and its strengths include Apple Fitness and Health integration, cycling features and access to more third-party workout apps. Apple lists GPS, cycling metrics and Bluetooth cycling-accessory support in its specifications. Apple technical specifications
For everyday exercise, both are capable. The practical split is Garmin’s built-in training and recovery emphasis versus Apple’s polished workout interface and the flexibility to use more apps. If your sport demands specialist training load, navigation, multisport tools or extended GPS sessions, neither should be assumed to be the ideal dedicated training watch.

Smartwatch features: Apple does more, Garmin covers the basics
Series 10 is the stronger smartwatch. It brings watchOS apps, notifications, messages, calls, Siri, Apple Pay, and close links to iPhone services. A cellular configuration can handle more communication without the phone nearby, subject to carrier support and an active plan. This is the better choice if your watch is meant to be a compact extension of your phone.
Venu 3 is not featureless: it supports notifications, calls through a paired phone, Android text responses, Garmin Pay, offline music from supported services, and Connect IQ apps and watch faces. But its messaging, voice-assistant and app experience should not be mistaken for watchOS. If you mostly need alerts, payments, music and fitness tools, it may be enough; if you want rich app interactions and phone independence, Apple has the edge. Garmin smart features
Fit, display and water use
Both use bright AMOLED-style displays, but fit is more personal than a display label. Venu 3 is the larger model and is rated for up to 14 days in smartwatch mode; the smaller Venu 3S is rated for up to 10 days. Pick the case that feels comfortable on your wrist during sleep as well as exercise. Garmin Venu 3/3S ratings
Best Value
- Physical size - 45 x 45 x 12 mm - Fits wrists with a circumference of 135-200 mm
Series 10 comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes, with aluminum or titanium configurations and GPS or GPS + Cellular models. Consider case size, weight, band comfort and whether cellular hardware is worth the ongoing plan cost. Apple rates the watch for 50-meter water resistance and IP6X dust resistance. Garmin rates Venu 3 at 5 ATM, which represents pressure equivalent to 50 meters. These ratings do not make either watch a scuba-diving watch. Water resistance can decline over time with age, impact, chemical exposure or repairs. Apple specifications · Garmin water rating
Price and value in 2026
Do not compare a current Garmin offer with an old Apple launch price, or assume Series 10 is still available at every original configuration. Garmin announced a U.S. suggested retail price of $449.99 for Venu 3 at launch on August 30, 2023; that is historical MSRP, not a verified 2026 selling price. Garmin launch announcement
Apple’s current comparison page lists Series 10 alongside Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3. Series 10 may be found as remaining stock, refurbished or used, so compare its actual price with Series 11 and SE 3 before buying. A Series 10 priced close to a newer model is hard to justify unless its specific features or configuration suit you better. Apple Watch comparison
- Compare new, refurbished and used listings separately; check warranty, return terms and exact configuration.
- For a used Series 10, check battery health, Activation Lock removal, case size, GPS versus Cellular, pairing compatibility, display, controls, sensors, speaker, microphone and charger.
- For a used Venu 3, confirm it is not the 3S if case size and battery rating matter; inspect charging contacts, touchscreen, buttons, speaker, microphone and GPS, then confirm Garmin Connect pairing and account transfer.
- Include the cost of a cellular plan if considering Apple GPS + Cellular, plus any needed replacement charger or band and subscriptions for third-party services.
Which one should you buy?
Choose Apple Watch Series 10 if…
- You use an iPhone and want the better everyday smartwatch, with richer apps, messaging and integration.
- You value Apple Health, Apple Pay and Apple services, or want cellular communication away from your phone.
- You want Apple’s ECG and sleep-apnea notification features and have verified their availability and eligibility where you live.
- You have found a well-kept Series 10 at a meaningful discount against Series 11, rather than paying near-new-model pricing.
Choose Garmin Venu 3 if…
- You use Android, or want one watch that works with compatible Android and iPhone devices.
- You want long intervals between charges and prioritize sleep, stress, HRV and recovery continuity.
- You run, cycle or train in a gym and want Garmin Coach, built-in workouts and fitness feedback.
- You travel, camp or simply do not want a daily charging routine.
Consider a different model if…
- You need advanced endurance training, navigation, race preparation or expedition features: compare Garmin Forerunner or Fenix models rather than treating Venu 3 as Garmin’s specialist option.
- You want an inexpensive Apple ecosystem watch: compare the Apple Watch SE 3 against a discounted Series 10 based on the features you actually need.
- You want a smaller Garmin: Venu 3S is the fit alternative, with Garmin’s rating of up to 10 days rather than Venu 3’s up to 14 days.
