Announced together in September 2024, the Grand Seiko SLGA025 and SBGH347 offer two distinct takes on a blue-green nature-inspired dial: a 40 mm titanium Spring Drive watch with a five-day power reserve, or a 37 mm Ever-Brilliant Steel high-beat mechanical watch. The key choice is movement first, then wrist fit, case material and dial preference; neither is objectively better.
What distinguishes the SLGA025 and SBGH347?
The SLGA025 is part of Grand Seiko’s Evolution 9 Collection and uses Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2. The SBGH347 belongs to the Heritage Collection and runs on the high-beat mechanical Caliber 9S85. Their case sizes, materials and power reserves differ, while both are rated to 10 bar water resistance.

Which movement suits you?
SLGA025: Spring Drive and a longer reserve
Caliber 9RA2 combines Spring Drive with automatic winding and manual winding. Grand Seiko states accuracy of ±10 seconds per month (±0.5 second per day) and an approximately 120-hour reserve. That longer reserve means the watch can sit for several days and still have power remaining, depending on how fully it was wound and its use.

SBGH347: high-beat mechanical
Caliber 9S85 is a high-beat mechanical movement that beats 10 times per second. Its stated reserve is approximately 55 hours. Grand Seiko gives two different accuracy figures: a mean daily rate of +5 to -3 seconds per day under controlled test conditions, and normal-usage accuracy of +8 to -1 seconds per day. These describe different conditions and should not be treated as interchangeable guarantees.
Choose between them based on whether you prefer Spring Drive’s stated longer reserve and accuracy specification or the SBGH347’s high-beat mechanical movement. The figures are manufacturer specifications, not independent comparative timing tests.

How do the cases wear?
The SLGA025 has the larger diameter and longer lug-to-lug measurement, at 40.0 mm and 47.9 mm, but it is thinner and lighter in the published specifications. Its high-intensity titanium case and bracelet weigh 112 g. The SBGH347 is narrower and shorter across the lugs, at 37.0 mm and 44.6 mm, but thicker at 13.3 mm; its Ever-Brilliant Steel construction weighs 142 g.
Diameter alone does not determine fit. Compare lug-to-lug length, thickness, bracelet feel and wrist shape if possible, and try each model on if case proportions are a deciding factor. The SLGA025’s titanium offers lower listed weight, while the SBGH347 uses steel; material preference is personal.

What do the dials represent?
SLGA025: the Atera River
Grand Seiko says the SLGA025’s emerald-green dial draws on the clear waters of the Atera River in Nagano’s Atera Valley, evoking the river bottom and surrounding summer landscape. See the official SLGA025 description.
SBGH347: an icefall near Mount Iwate
The SBGH347 has an ice-blue patterned dial inspired by an icefall near Mount Iwate, visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi. Grand Seiko’s Japanese store page identifies the waterfall as Nanataki. See the Japanese SBGH347 listing.

The colors and landscape references are different expressions rather than a shared dial design: choose the green Atera River motif or the icy blue Mount Iwate inspiration.

The announcement listed Japanese tax-inclusive launch prices of ¥1,463,000 for the SLGA025 and ¥946,000 for the SBGH347. These are historical Japanese launch prices, not current global prices. Official product pages display prices for their own markets: SGD 14,000 on the Singapore SLGA025 page, and €7,400 on the Benelux SBGH347 page. The Japanese online store lists the SBGH347 at ¥946,000 including tax and displays a five-year warranty. These regional listings are not directly comparable; availability, pricing and terms vary by market and may change. Check the official page for your country for current details.
Which one should you choose?
- Choose the SLGA025 if you want Spring Drive, an approximately five-day stated reserve, a 40 mm titanium case and the Atera River’s green dial inspiration.
- Choose the SBGH347 if you want a 37 mm case, high-beat mechanical movement, Ever-Brilliant Steel and an ice-blue dial inspired by an icefall near Mount Iwate.
- Compare them in person if case fit, bracelet feel or the dial’s appearance is more decisive than movement specifications.
Both are 10-bar watches, but the shared water-resistance rating does not settle the choice: the models differ substantially in movement, dimensions, weight, metal and visual character.
