The Grand Seiko SLGH027 “Mountainscape” is an Evolution 9 automatic Hi-Beat watch made for the brand’s 65th anniversary. Grand Seiko and launch coverage describe a 1,200-piece limited edition, with a silver-blue pressed dial inspired by the natural setting around the brand’s watchmaking studio. Its official UK specifications list a 40 mm Ever-Brilliant Steel case, calibre 9SA5, an 80-hour power reserve and 10-bar water resistance.
What is the Grand Seiko SLGH027?
SLGH027 is the reference for Grand Seiko’s “Mountainscape” Evolution 9 Hi-Beat 65th Anniversary Limited Edition. It combines the brand’s high-frequency automatic calibre 9SA5 with an Ever-Brilliant Steel case and bracelet. Grand Seiko’s US boutique and launch coverage state that the edition is limited to 1,200 pieces.
Why is it called “Mountainscape”?
Grand Seiko describes the dial as a new pressed pattern in silver-blue, with its color inspired by the pure air and water around the studio where the company makes watches. The brand also connects Mount Iwate and the changing character of nature to the design. That is the manufacturer’s stated inspiration, rather than a literal depiction of a particular view.
Independent launch coverage reads the textured surface as suggestive of landslides and ridges. That interpretation helps explain the dial’s topography, but it is the publication’s description, not a stated technical feature.
