The Grönefeld 1941 Quadrivium is a hand-wound watch built around four complications: a 7.5-second remontoire, a one-minute flying tourbillon, central jumping seconds and a power-reserve indicator. Grönefeld announced 28 tantalum examples and 28 platinum examples in September 2026; its current model page says it cannot accept orders for the time being.
What does the Quadrivium’s remontoire do?
A remontoire d’égalité is a secondary spring that is periodically rewound and supplies energy to the going train. Its purpose is to make the force delivered through the train more regular as the mainspring’s torque changes. The Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry explains the principle in its account of the earlier Grönefeld 1941 Remontoire: the secondary spring is wound at short intervals to help keep the gear train running at a regular rate and with constant force.
On the Quadrivium, Grönefeld specifies a 7.5-second interval. The exposed governor that regulates the remontoire is visible at 9 o’clock and, according to the maker, rotates every 7.5 seconds. The Federation’s eight-second example describes the earlier 1941 Remontoire, not this watch.
How do the flying tourbillon and jumping seconds work?
One-minute flying tourbillon
Grönefeld places the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock and says it completes one rotation per minute. The manufacturer’s description establishes its position and rotation period; it does not provide independent performance testing showing an accuracy benefit.

Central jumping seconds
The central seconds hand advances in one-second jumps rather than sweeping continuously. Grönefeld calls the mechanism “dead seconds” in its specifications. That describes the display and mechanism, not a separately verified accuracy result.
Where are the other displays?
- Hours and minutes: subdial at 2 o’clock.
- Power reserve: indicator at 10 o’clock.
- Remontoire governor: exposed at 9 o’clock.
- Flying tourbillon: at 6 o’clock.
- Jumping seconds: central hand.
Grönefeld says the name Quadrivium refers to the classical grouping of arithmetic, geometry, music and astronomy, and alludes to the watch’s four complications. The brand presents the design as drawing together ideas associated with its One Hertz, Parallax Tourbillon and Remontoire watches; that “greatest hits” framing is the manufacturer’s characterization.

What is inside the G-09 movement?
Grönefeld’s specifications describe calibre G-09 as a hand-wound mechanical movement measuring 32.0 mm across and 6.15 mm thick. It uses two coaxially arranged barrels connected in series and has a stated power reserve of 50 hours.

These are Grönefeld’s published technical specifications, not independently measured results. The maker describes hand-beveled stainless-steel bridges and a spotted and snailed ruthenium-plated brass mainplate. An exhibition sapphire back shows the movement.

Case, strap and water resistance
The 1941-design case measures 40.0 mm in diameter and 11.3 mm thick, according to Grönefeld. Its stated water resistance is 3 atmospheres, equivalent to 30 m or 100 ft. The listed strap is hand-sewn leather, 20 mm wide at the lugs and 18 mm at the buckle.
The model page lists dial color options but does not specify the five colors in the available product information. No color names are included here.

How much does it cost, and can you order one?
Grönefeld’s launch announcement of 23 September 2026 set out two editions and announced prices excluding taxes. Those launch prices and delivery estimates do not confirm current stock or the price of a completed transaction.

The announcement does not identify a difference in movement or performance between the two materials. Grönefeld’s current official model page presents the tantalum-and-sand version and says the brand cannot accept orders for the time being because of high interest and limited capacity. Check with Grönefeld for current availability; the published notice does not establish that a retailer can take an order.
