The 2023 Spinnaker Fleuss Seconde/Seconde/ Limited Edition is a dive-style watch built around a joke: 50 luminous ghosts replace a conventional, easy-to-scan dial. The result is memorable and deliberately busy. It also asks you to accept a real readability tradeoff, particularly in the dark, according to Fratello’s hands-on review.
What is the Spinnaker Fleuss Seconde/Seconde/?
This is the 2023 collaboration between Spinnaker and Paris-based artist Romaric André, who works as seconde/seconde/. Its black dial is populated by 50 ghosts, a playful reference to the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and a pun on the dial’s “No Feet” wording. It is the 43 mm NH38-powered edition, not a later Fleuss collaboration with similar artwork.
Fratello identified it as the Spinnaker Fleuss Automatic Seconde/Seconde/ Limited Edition in its hands-on article published October 27, 2023. The watch was produced in 670 pieces: 500 in the pictured black configuration and 170 with a gray “ghost” bezel. Fratello’s 2023 hands-on report is the source for those edition details.
Is the ghost dial easy to read?
Not as easy to read as a conventional dive-watch dial. The ghosts are the feature, but they compete visually with the hands and hour markers. Fratello’s reviewer describes the dial as intentionally busy and reports that, in darkness, the luminous ghosts camouflage the hands and make the time harder to read. That is the reviewer’s observation, not a laboratory test.

If quick time checks and clear lume are priorities, this is a compromise to weigh carefully. If you want a conspicuous, humorous watch whose design invites a second look, the busy dial is central to its appeal rather than an accidental flaw.
How big is the Spinnaker Fleuss?
Fratello’s specification table lists a 43 mm case diameter, 51 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 13 mm thickness. Those dimensions make this a substantial watch, especially across the wrist. The 51 mm lug-to-lug figure is particularly useful when judging fit; wrist circumference alone will not tell you whether the lugs suit your wrist.

The case is stainless steel, with a sapphire crystal and anti-reflective coating. It has a display caseback, a 120-click unidirectional bezel and a stated water-resistance rating of 150 m. Long Island Watch’s product page for reference SP-5131-01 also lists the NH38 movement, sapphire crystal and 150 m rating. Movement, straps and specifications
The watch uses a Seiko NH38 automatic movement. Fratello’s specification table lists a 41-hour power reserve and 24 jewels. Its accompanying prose characterizes the NH38’s typical accuracy as between −20 and +40 seconds per day and says it typically offers over 40 hours of reserve; those are the article’s general characterizations, not a guarantee for an individual watch.

The supplied straps give you leather and rubber options without changing the watch’s overall character. For a replacement, 22 mm is the reported width, but width alone does not establish end shape or fit; confirm compatibility with the specific strap and watch.
What did it cost, and can you still buy one?
Fratello reported an original price of US$445 and a production run of 670. Those are historical launch figures, not a current price or valuation. Its October 30, 2023 update said the initial launch sold out within minutes and reported a 50-hour preorder window for a blue-dial version from November 4 at 08:00 GMT to November 6 at 10:00 GMT, with delivery expected from March 2024. That window is long past.

Long Island Watch has a page for the Phantom Black SP-5131-01, but a product page does not establish current inventory. Current stock and pricing were not verified. If you encounter one, treat it as a resale listing and assess its asking price, condition, included straps and completeness individually; no current market value is established here.

It makes the most sense for someone who values the art and the joke more than maximum legibility. Before buying a listing, check the dimensions against watches you already wear, inspect the dial and luminous material, verify that the NH38 runs as expected, and confirm the condition of the case, bezel, crystal and straps. Its 150 m rating is a stated specification, not proof that a particular used watch remains water-resistant; a seller’s claim or an old rating cannot substitute for a current pressure test if you intend to swim with it.

Keep the edition straight when comparing listings: later Fleuss/Seconde/Seconde/ releases are separate watches. Hypebeast’s 2024 coverage, for example, concerns a later 40 mm Fleuss release, not this 2023 43 mm SP-5131 edition. Hypebeast’s 2024 coverage refers to that later collaboration.
