Before choosing, check both your watch’s lug width and your wrist circumference: the two versions have different mesh widths, and Forstner offers each in two lengths.
Will the Forstner Komfit JB fit your watch?
Forstner currently sells two straight-end versions. The lug-width ranges overlap at 19 and 20 mm, so a watch in that range can take either version; the choice then comes down to the mesh’s appearance and how wide you want it to look against the case.
| Version | Forstner-listed lug widths | Central mesh width | Spring bars and included parts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 16, 17, 18, 19 or 20 mm | 16 mm | Accepts spring bars up to 1.8 mm thick; bars are not included. Internal lug protectors are included. (Forstner standard product page) |
| Wide | 19, 20, 21 or 22 mm | 18 mm | Accepts spring bars up to 1.8 mm thick; bars are not included. Internal lug protectors are included. (Forstner wide product page) |
The stated lug range is the key fit check, not the width of the mesh section. For example, the standard bracelet’s mesh is 16 mm across even when its straight ends fit a 19 or 20 mm lug gap. That leaves more of the watch’s width visible at the lugs. The wide version’s 18 mm mesh fills more of that visual space, but its ends are specified only for 19–22 mm lugs.
Measure between the inside faces of the watch’s lugs, and confirm your spring bars are no thicker than 1.8 mm. If your watch’s lug width is outside the selected version’s listed range, do not assume the spring-loaded ends will fit simply because the mesh looks close in width.

Standard or wide: which should you choose?
Choose standard for 16–18 mm lugs, or a narrower mesh look
The standard straight-end version is the only one of these two listed for 16, 17 and 18 mm lugs. Its central mesh is 16 mm wide, giving it a visibly narrower profile than a 19–20 mm lug opening. Forstner says the reissue’s end pieces extend beyond the vintage model’s stated 19 mm maximum, and describes the central mesh as 16 mm rather than the vintage 15 mm.
Choose wide for 21–22 mm lugs, or a fuller mesh profile at 19–20 mm
The wide version covers 21 and 22 mm lugs, which are beyond the standard version’s range. At 19 or 20 mm, both versions are listed as fitting, so compare the 16 mm and 18 mm mesh widths with the case and the look you want. The available specifications do not establish that either version is objectively better for a particular watch in the overlap.

Which length fits your wrist?
Forstner offers both the standard and wide versions in Regular and Original lengths. Its guidance is approximate, not a guarantee of fit:
| Length | Forstner’s recommended wrist circumference |
|---|---|
| Regular | About 5.75–7 inches (14.5–18 cm) |
| Original | About 7–10 inches (18–25.5 cm) |
For a wrist around 7 inches (18 cm), Forstner says either length may work. Measure wrist circumference where you wear the watch; if you are near a boundary, use the manufacturer’s guidance as a starting point and confirm the chosen length with Forstner before ordering.

How does the Komfit clasp work?
In the Fratello hands-on account, the reviewer fitted the bracelet to a Speedmaster ’57 60th Anniversary with 19 mm lugs. The described adjustment involves releasing the clasp, feeding the bracelet through a keeper, and repositioning a movable section held by a flip lock. The account portrays the mechanism as adjustable without tools, but notes that the reviewer needed practice to get comfortable operating the clasp.
Forstner describes the bracelet’s clasp as forward-facing and says its reissue clasp was improved to address slipping reported with vintage versions. Those are the manufacturer’s descriptions of the design, not independent comparative test results. Forstner characterizes the Komfit as having square-patterned mesh and decorated spring-loaded end pieces, calling its appearance distinctive.

What the hands-on review found—and what it did not establish
The Fratello reviewer reported that the bracelet felt light and comfortable on the Speedmaster ’57 and that the clasp took some practice. Those observations belong to that reviewer’s wearing experience; they are not a guarantee that it will feel the same on every wrist or case.
The Fratello article quoted a US$125 price during its publication period. That is a historical figure, not a current price; check Forstner’s product pages for present availability and pricing.

What is known about the Komfit’s history?
Forstner’s collection page says the Komfit style was later rebranded “JB Champion” and claims it was used across Mercury, Gemini and Apollo, including on the Moon. The company also describes NASA sanction. These are manufacturer-attributed historical claims; the sources available here do not include a NASA primary document independently confirming them. See Forstner’s Komfit history page for the company’s account.
