How the Rivanera wears
More presence than the 27mm width implies
The rectangular case measures only 27mm across, but its 40mm lug-to-lug distance stretches the watch across the wrist. That proportion gives it considerably more visual presence than a conventional 27mm round dress watch. The 5.9mm thickness and flat caseback keep the profile discreet rather than making the watch feel wrapped around the wrist.

Time+Tide photographed the black model on an 18cm (7.1in) wrist and the grey model on a 16.5cm (6.5in) wrist. Those photographs suggest the long, straight footprint can work on both medium and smaller wrists, provided you prefer a watch that reads as deliberately architectural rather than traditionally petite.
Comfort from titanium and thinness
Grade 5 titanium keeps the watch light. The case has a finely grained sandblasted texture, while polished channels run from the lugs and bezel into the case sides. Those bright edges frame the otherwise matte surfaces from every angle and create the watch’s béton-brut or brutalist visual language.
The flat back, low height and light metal make it suitable for shirt cuffs and prolonged desk wear. The 30-metre water-resistance rating is appropriate for splashes and daily caution, not swimming or deliberate water exposure.

Case and dial design
Sandblasted titanium with polished structure
The Rivanera avoids decorative case curves. Its identity comes from the contrast between the sandblasted Grade 5 titanium and sharply polished channels and bevels. Light catches those polished tracks as the wrist moves, preventing the rectangular form from appearing flat or anonymous.
Matte black and grey dials
The documented original dials are matte black and matte grey. Their restrained treatment lets the case architecture do most of the visual work. Legibility and decoration are intentionally secondary to the geometric outline, so buyers seeking applied indices, extensive finishing or a more conventional dress-watch dial may find the Rivanera austere.
Movement, winding and reserve
Visible through the round sapphire caseback is the Peseux 7001, a respected slim hand-wound calibre. It beats at 3Hz and stores up to 42 hours of power, according to Time+Tide. The display is limited to hours, minutes and small seconds.

Manual winding means the watch requires regular interaction: wind it when the reserve is depleted rather than expecting an automatic rotor to replenish it during wear. The 42-hour figure is a stated maximum reserve, not a controlled accuracy or endurance test. What comes with the watch
The supplied pair comprises a black pebbled calfskin strap and a Horween shell cordovan strap. Each is fitted with a titanium pin buckle matched to the case. The review characterizes their quality as reasonable to high.
The 20mm lug width matters
Both straps use the Rivanera’s 20mm lug width, so replacement choices are widely available. The original straps do not have quick-release spring bars; changing them requires a spring-bar tool and more care than a tool-free system. That is the principal convenience compromise in an otherwise wearable package.

A 20mm leather strap can change the watch’s character substantially: shell cordovan emphasizes its dress-watch side, while a softer pebbled leather makes the rectangular case feel less formal. Confirm the buckle dimensions and spring-bar fit before ordering an aftermarket strap.

Who should choose it?

Verdict
The original Echo/Neutra Rivanera succeeds because its proportions and finishing are coherent. At 5.9mm thick, it is genuinely discreet; at 40mm lug-to-lug, it still has presence; and the titanium case makes that footprint easy to wear. The hand-wound Peseux 7001 adds mechanical character without making the watch thick. Its limitations are equally clear: only 30 metres of water resistance, no quick-release straps and a price and availability picture that changes by market and variant.
For a buyer who wants a thin rectangular dress watch with an unmistakable brutalist identity, the Rivanera is an unusually focused choice. Confirm the reference, dimensions and live price before placing an order, particularly when comparing it with Ros’Antico or Piccolo models.
