Its two launch versions pair white gold with Prussian Blue details (ref. 3438MS.G01) or yellow gold with Sienna details (ref. 3438MS.G02). That movement-led construction—not asymmetry alone—is the key to understanding the Mirage and the frequent Cartier Crash comparison.
Two gold cases, two distinct colorways
Monochrome Watches introduced the Mirage on 21 November 2023 in two executions. Both have gold dials matched to their case metal, with sector-like colored markings, small seconds and a custom font.

The launch article describes satin-brushed and polished finishes on the gold case and dial. An offset oval crown sits within the unusual outline, while the caseband extends over the end of the strap. Curved gold hands are stacked in reverse order. The front crystal is hesalite; the display back is sapphire. Why the case is asymmetrical
For creator Sylvain Berneron, the case shape follows the movement rather than serving as an independent design wrapped around a conventional round mechanism. In a Worn & Wound interview, he said he drew and constructed the gear train from scratch, with the placement of its components determining the case outline. As he put it, “So the Mirage is effectively a case wrapped around the train of gears, rather than a free shape with a round movement inside it.”

That explanation helps put the Cartier Crash comparison in context. Berneron acknowledged the comparison and described the principal commonality as extensive asymmetry. The designs differ in visible details: the Mirage has lugs and Arabic numerals, while the Crash has no lugs and Roman numerals. This is Berneron’s account of the Mirage’s design rationale, not evidence that the watches share a movement or are technically equivalent.
Movement and dimensions
The Mirage uses a shaped, manually wound movement attributed to Le Cercle de Horlogers. Its reported gold mainplates and bridges are made in 18k gold. The launch article gives these specifications:

These figures are as reported in the 2023 launch article, rather than independently tested measurements. The listed strap is grained calfskin, with an 18k gold pin buckle and 18k gold spring bars. Monochrome Watches reported a price of CHF 55,000 excluding VAT for each version in its November 2023 introduction. It said the 24-piece allocations for 2023 and 2024 were already filled and reported a 24-piece allocation for 2025. Those are dated launch-era sales details, not confirmation of current price, production, allocation or availability in October 2026. The cited article does not establish present terms.
