No—not in any objective sense. The blue-dial TUDOR Pelagos M25600TB-0001 is a capable, high-specification dive watch, but “Rolex killer” depends on what you want from a watch. Compared with the specific black-dial, no-date Rolex Submariner 124060, the Pelagos offers a titanium bracelet, a date and a higher stated water-resistance rating; the Submariner is smaller by the listed diameter, uses Oystersteel and carries Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer designation. Neither specification sheet establishes which is more comfortable, accurate in daily wear or valuable at resale.
Which blue Pelagos does the question mean?
The standard blue-dial TUDOR Pelagos is reference M25600TB-0001. TUDOR’s official listing describes a 42 mm watch with a titanium-and-steel case, titanium bracelet, blue dial, date and matt blue ceramic bezel disc. It lists 500 m water resistance and the MT5612 movement, COSC-certified, with approximately 70 hours of power reserve. TUDOR’s product listing shows a CHF 4,900 suggested retail price for that regional listing; it is not a universal price or a verified street price.
This is not the blue Pelagos FXD. The blue FXD, reference M25707B-0001, is a different 42 mm watch with fixed strap bars, a bidirectional bezel intended for navigation, a navy dial and a 200 m rating. TUDOR describes the FXD as developed with French Navy combat swimmers for underwater navigation; that description applies to the FXD, not the standard Pelagos. See TUDOR’s FXD family page and the blue FXD model page.
Which Rolex is the fairest comparison?
To make the comparison specific, this article uses the Oystersteel Submariner 124060: the black-dial, no-date model. Rolex lists a 41 mm case, calibre 3230, approximately 70 hours of power reserve, an Oyster bracelet with Glidelock extension system and 300 m water resistance. Its product page gives finished-watch precision of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing and identifies Superlative Chronometer certification. Details are on Rolex’s 124060 product page and Rolex’s Submariner technical information.

“The Submariner” is not one fixed specification: Rolex also sells date models, including blue-dial versions. Those are different watches and would change the comparison.

Where the Pelagos has the edge
A distinct material and colour choice
The Pelagos pairs a blue dial and bezel with a titanium bracelet and a titanium-and-steel case. That gives it a different appearance and material mix from the black-dial, all-Oystersteel Submariner used here. Whether that is preferable is personal; neither material nor colour is a universal upgrade.

Date display and a higher stated depth rating
The Pelagos includes a date, while the 124060 does not. TUDOR’s stated 500 m water resistance also exceeds Rolex’s stated 300 m for this Submariner. Both ratings are beyond ordinary recreational diving requirements, so the larger number alone does not make the Pelagos the better everyday watch.
More detail in the published dimensions
TUDOR states the Pelagos is 14.3 mm thick as well as 42 mm across. Rolex’s cited pages give the Submariner’s 41 mm diameter but do not state a comparable thickness figure. The one-millimetre diameter difference does not settle fit: wrist shape, bracelet sizing and personal preference matter, and published dimensions cannot establish comfort.

Where the Submariner has the edge
A stated finished-watch accuracy standard
Rolex gives the 124060 a finished-watch precision figure of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing. Rolex says its Superlative Chronometer tolerance is tighter than the tolerance COSC accepts for certification of a movement alone. That is Rolex’s description of its standard, not a head-to-head timing test against the Pelagos. TUDOR states COSC certification for the MT5612 but does not give a finished-watch rate figure on the cited product listing.
Bracelet adjustability and a more restrained specification
Rolex lists a Glidelock extension system on the Submariner’s Oyster bracelet. The cited TUDOR listing identifies a titanium bracelet but does not specify a comparable adjustment system, so the available specifications do not establish which bracelet is easier to size or more comfortable. The Submariner also suits someone specifically seeking a black-dial, no-date design rather than the Pelagos’s blue-and-date configuration.

What the specifications cannot settle
These official product and technical pages support a comparison of listed features; they do not establish comparative real-world accuracy, comfort, bezel feel, legibility, reliability, service costs, resale value, retailer availability or transaction prices. Nor do they show that the watches are interchangeable: they differ in dimensions, materials, dial and date, water-resistance rating, bezel insert and certification presentation.
Price is especially easy to misread. TUDOR’s cited page shows CHF 4,900 as a regional suggested retail price, while the cited Rolex pages do not state a price. That is not a like-for-like market comparison, and it says nothing about actual purchase cost, stock or waiting time.

Which one should you choose?
- Choose the blue Pelagos if you want a blue dial, a date, a titanium bracelet and the higher stated water-resistance rating in a 42 mm case.
- Choose the Submariner 124060 if you want the specific black-dial, no-date Oystersteel design, Glidelock bracelet extension and Rolex’s stated finished-watch precision standard.
- Try both on if comfort and fit are decisive. The published diameter figures cannot predict how either watch will feel on your wrist.
- Compare local prices before deciding if cost is central. The available figures do not establish a same-market, same-date price comparison or resale outcome.
On the evidence available, the Pelagos is not a specification-for-specification replacement for the 124060, and “Rolex killer” is a slogan rather than a measurable verdict. It is a compelling alternative for a buyer whose priorities match its particular features.
