Meta announced Meta Ray-Ban Display on September 17, 2025, and it became available in selected US retail locations on September 30, 2025. The glasses put a full-color display in the right lens and pair with a wrist-worn Meta Neural Band for gesture controls. Meta’s September 2026 lineup update introduced other Ray-Ban Meta models, but did not announce a second-generation Display.
What is Meta Ray-Ban Display?
Meta Ray-Ban Display is a pair of smart glasses with cameras, microphones, speakers, computing hardware and AI features, plus a small display positioned off to the side of the wearer’s view. Ray-Ban’s current product listing specifies a 600 × 600-pixel full-color display in the right lens. The display is not continuously on; it is intended to surface information when needed rather than keep a screen in view all the time.
Meta described the design goal as helping people “look up and stay present,” and said, “This isn’t about strapping a phone to your face.” The display adds visual information to the familiar glasses form, rather than replacing a phone for every task.
What can the display show?
Meta lists several uses for the lens display, from quick information to controls for other features in the glasses:

How do the Meta Neural Band controls work?
The glasses come with a Meta Neural Band, an EMG wristband that reads surface electromyography signals: subtle electrical activity associated with muscle movement. Meta says the band translates small finger and hand movements into commands such as scrolling and clicking. The band is an interaction method, not a display; the visual information appears in the glasses.

Meta has reported that nearly 200,000 people participated in its surface-EMG research. That is a research-participant figure, not a count of Neural Band owners or a measure of the product’s accuracy.
Meta’s developer update describes the approach this way: “Display is only part of the story. How users interact matters just as much.” Its developer preview supports information overlays, real-time data, micro-apps, utilities and streaming media. Developers can build with the native iOS and Android Device Access Toolkit or with web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Price, battery life and availability
Meta announced a starting price of $799 for the glasses and Neural Band together. The company estimated up to six hours of mixed-use battery life for the glasses and up to 30 hours total when using the charging case. The Neural Band has a separate rating of up to 18 hours and an IPX7 water-resistance rating; those band specifications should not be confused with the glasses’ battery figure.
The launch availability announced in 2025 was limited to selected US retail locations. That does not establish availability in other countries or guarantee current stock at any particular retailer.

Does the 2026 Ray-Ban Meta lineup include a newer Display?
No second-generation Ray-Ban Meta Display was confirmed in Meta’s September 23, 2026 lineup announcement. That update announced Ray-Ban Meta Audio, starting at $349 and scheduled to ship October 13, 2026, and Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3, starting at $449. These are distinct products, not announced Display successors.
| Model | Display | Interaction | Price and timing stated by Meta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ray-Ban Meta Display | Yes; 600 × 600-pixel full-color panel in the right lens, per Ray-Ban’s product listing | Meta Neural Band, alongside voice and physical controls | Announced at $799 starting price in 2025; selected US retail availability began September 30, 2025 |
| Ray-Ban Meta Audio | No display announced | Voice and physical controls; no Neural Band specified in the 2026 announcement | $349 starting price; shipping scheduled for October 13, 2026 |
| Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 | No display announced | Voice and physical controls; no Neural Band specified in the 2026 announcement | $449 starting price; availability timing not stated in Meta’s September 23, 2026 announcement |
The distinction matters if you are deciding whether to wait: Meta’s 2026 announcement expands the Ray-Ban Meta range, but does not provide evidence of a newer Display model or a successor launch date.
Should you consider Meta Ray-Ban Display?
The key choice is whether you want information visible in a lens and are willing to use a wristband for gesture input. If you mainly want audio-oriented smart glasses, the Audio and Gen 3 announcements are separate options; neither was announced with a display. Battery life also differs by component: Meta’s stated figures are up to six hours of mixed use for the glasses and up to 18 hours for the band, with the charging case extending the glasses’ total to up to 30 hours.
Before buying, check whether the model is available in your market and whether its display features and selected-language support meet your needs. The launch announcement’s selected-US-retailer availability does not establish broader regional access.
