Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe Rolex Submariner 14060M is a discontinued, no-date steel dive watch with a 40 mm case, aluminum bezel insert and caliber 3130. Its published reference specifications include a 300 m / 1,000 ft water-resistance rating, but that rating says nothing about the condition or water resistance of an individual watch today. The main choices for a buyer are whether they prefer the earlier two-line or later four-line dial, how the particular example has been maintained, and whether the 14060M’s proportions and aluminum bezel suit them better than the later 114060.
What is the Rolex Submariner 14060M?
The 14060M is a no-date version of the steel Submariner. Rolexopedia gives its production period as approximately 1999/2000 to 2012; treat that as a collector-reference timeline, not a complete official serial register. The published configuration is a 40 mm Oyster case, black anodized-aluminum bezel insert, sapphire crystal and caliber 3130. Rolexopedia lists the movement with 31 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, about 48 hours of power reserve, hacking seconds and no quick-set date. These are reference-level specifications, not measurements from a tested watch.
The reference’s 300 m / 1,000 ft water-resistance rating is likewise a published specification, not a guarantee for a watch that has aged, been serviced or sustained damage. A particular example needs appropriate inspection and water-resistance testing before it is exposed to water.
How do the two-line and four-line dials differ?
Two-line dial
The earlier dial layout shows the Submariner name and depth rating in two lines of text. Its appearance alone does not mean the watch is the older reference 14060: the 14060M uses caliber 3130, and reference and movement documentation matter when distinguishing it from its predecessor.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Four-line dial
The later dial adds “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified.” Rolexopedia places the change around 2007–2008 and notes overlap in the transition, so there is no single date that identifies every watch. The guide also notes four-line dials on later watches with engraved rehauts, but dial, rehaut, bracelet and movement should be assessed as separate details. Service parts can result in a mixed configuration.
A serial prefix is only a broad production clue; it does not prove which dial or other components are currently fitted. For an individual watch, consider the configuration alongside service or delivery documentation and an expert inspection. Neither dial style by itself establishes originality, condition or value.

How does the 14060M compare with the 14060 and 114060?
| Reference | Key distinction | What that means when comparing |
|---|---|---|
| 14060 | Earlier no-date Submariner with caliber 3000, according to Watch Reference Map’s comparison. | The 14060M moved to caliber 3130, described by the specialist guides as COSC-certified. A two-line dial alone does not identify a 14060; verify reference and movement documentation. |
| 14060M | No-date format, caliber 3130, aluminum bezel insert and 40 mm Oyster case. | The five-digit generation may appeal if you prefer its case proportions and aluminum bezel to the later design. |
| 114060 | Successor introduced in 2012; it retained the no-date layout, caliber 3130 and 300 m rating, while adding a broader Maxi case, black Cerachrom bezel, solid-link Oyster bracelet and Glidelock clasp. | Compare case proportions and wrist feel, bezel material, bracelet construction and clasp adjustment. Rolex’s current Submariner descriptions concern the modern family and should not be used as specifications for the 14060M. |
The production and configuration details above come from specialist reference guides rather than an official Rolex archival specification sheet. Rolex’s contemporary [Submariner newsroom material](https://www.rolex.com/en-us/watches/submariner) can provide current-family context, but it does not establish the exact specification of this discontinued reference.

Judge reference identity and current state separately. A watch can match the expected reference description and still have worn, replaced or mismatched parts. Assess the specific example rather than treating its dial variant or seller-provided year as a proxy for overall quality.
