The Rolex Submariner 14060M is a 40 mm, no-date Submariner produced roughly from 1999/2000 to 2012. Its appeal is specific: a clean dial without a date or Cyclops magnifier, an aluminum bezel insert, and the older-generation caliber 3130. It followed the 14060 and was eventually replaced by the 114060, with production transitions that do not resolve to one universal cutoff date.

“Hands-on” here means a close look at what defines the reference and what to check when comparing examples—not a claim of personal wear or inspection.

What defines the Submariner 14060M?

The 14060M is the no-date member of the five-digit Submariner generation. Reference guides place its run at approximately 1999/2000 through 2012, after the 14060 and before the 114060. Those dates are approximate: model transitions overlap, so a serial prefix should not be treated as proof of an exact production date.

At reference level, the 14060M pairs a 40 mm Oyster steel case and 300 m / 1,000 ft water-resistance rating with a black, unidirectional bezel whose insert is aluminum. Its black dial has no date window and therefore no Cyclops magnifier. These are published specifications and descriptions; the parts on an individual watch may differ, including because of later service replacements. Rolexopedia’s 14060M reference guide provides the cited specification details.

How the two-line and four-line dials differ

Two-line dial

Earlier 14060M dials are commonly called “two-line” because the lower dial shows the model name and depth rating in two lines.

Four-line dial

Later versions add “Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified,” creating a four-line layout. Collector references generally place the change around 2007, but reported timing varies and transition examples exist. The line count is a useful configuration clue, not a universal dating rule or a guarantee that the dial is original to the watch.

  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

Some later examples also have an engraved inner rehaut. Treat that feature separately from dial line count: the two changes are associated with later watches, but one does not establish the other, and a service replacement can alter what is visible. For the chronology and caveats, see the Rolexopedia reference guide, Luxury Bazaar’s 14060M guide, and Commit Ginza’s guide.

Movement and reference specifications

The 14060M uses Rolex caliber 3130, replacing caliber 3000 in the preceding 14060. Published specifications list 31 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and approximately 48 hours of power reserve. These are reference-level figures, not measurements of an individual watch’s present performance.

A bracelet code is one component clue, not proof that the bracelet and watch head have always remained together. Luminous material is described in reference material as Super-LumiNova during the 14060M run; inspect the particular watch rather than assuming its current components are all original.

How it compares with the current no-date Submariner

Rolex’s current no-date Submariner is reference 124060. Its official brochure lists a 41 mm case, ceramic Cerachrom bezel insert, caliber 3230, and approximately 70-hour power reserve. Those are specifications for the current model, not the 14060M.

What to check when comparing 14060M examples

Two-line versus four-line is a useful place to start, but it cannot establish condition, originality, or value on its own. Assess the watch as a set of components and records:

  • Dial and rehaut: Record the visible configuration of each separately. A later feature or service dial can differ from the original delivery setup.
  • Case: Examine condition and prior polishing, and look for evidence of damage or repair. The reference specifications do not describe an individual case’s condition.
  • Bezel: Check the insert and its condition; an aluminum insert can show wear or may have been replaced.
  • Bracelet and clasp: Note codes and condition. The documented 93150 bracelet and 501B end links are useful clues, not proof of continuous pairing with the case.
  • Service history: Ask which components were replaced, when service occurred, and whether documentation is available. Replacement parts can change the visible configuration.
  • Papers and provenance: Compare available records with the seller’s claims, without treating a serial clue alone as proof of exact production timing or originality.
  • Price basis: Compare like-for-like condition and configuration, and establish the date and basis of any quoted valuation.

The cited specialist guide notes that there is no complete production total or serial-linked component register. As a result, no single visible detail or serial clue can certify that every component is original to a particular watch.

What can be said about its value?

A dated dealer estimate is not the same as a current market range. Commit Ginza gave an estimate of approximately 1.5 million yen for late-model examples as of June 2025. That figure is a dealer estimate tied to its stated date, not a universal valuation or a current transaction benchmark. Commit Ginza’s 14060M guide is the source.

Any asking price should be considered alongside the individual watch’s condition, component configuration, service history, provenance, and the date and basis of the valuation. The available dated estimate does not establish a current price range.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
