Samsung has confirmed that a next-generation Galaxy Ring is in development. The product’s commercial name, specifications, price and release date are still unannounced, however. The strongest current report points to an early-2027 launch and describes goals such as longer battery life, a thinner design and better health analysis. Those details remain reports, not a leaked Samsung specification sheet.
What Samsung has actually confirmed
Samsung Senior Vice President Hon Pak said the next-generation Galaxy Ring is being developed. In comments reported by Android Authority, he suggested that software and services could matter as much as adding sensors, and gave an inconclusive but suggestive answer when asked whether future Rings might work with devices beyond Android.
Samsung vice president Annika Bizon separately said the Ring remains part of the company’s future wearable portfolio, according to TechRadar.
That amounts to confirmation of development, not a formal Galaxy Ring 2 announcement. Samsung has not confirmed the name, launch date, price, dimensions, colors, sensor list, iPhone support or any rumored medical feature.

What the current reports claim
The most detailed report, summarized by 9to5Google from an ETNews report, describes an early-2027 target and several engineering priorities. Treat each item below as a reported target rather than a specification.
Longer battery life
The reported goal is approximately nine to ten days, compared with Samsung’s advertised maximum of up to seven days for the current Galaxy Ring. Actual endurance would depend on ring size, sensor use, syncing, firmware, phone connection and whether a Galaxy Watch is also being worn. Samsung has not published a successor battery rating.
Thinner and lighter construction
Reports say Samsung is examining component placement and internal design to improve comfort. No reliable successor thickness or weight has been published, so there is no defensible percentage reduction to quote.

More accurate sleep analysis
Improved sleep analysis appears repeatedly in the reported development priorities. That could mean better accuracy using the existing sensor set, additional sleep metrics or improved interpretation in Samsung Health. It does not mean medical-grade diagnosis: Samsung’s current Ring health features are wellness tools with product-specific limitations and disclaimers, as described on its official product page.

Reports also mention expanded cardiovascular analysis. They do not establish a particular blood-pressure reading, heart-disease diagnosis or other clinical measurement, and Samsung has not announced one.
Non-invasive glucose monitoring is only a stretch goal
Non-invasive glucose-related monitoring is described as a stretch goal in the reporting. There is no confirmation that it works, will ship, or would obtain regulatory clearance. It should not be treated as a promised blood-sugar monitor.

Other low-confidence rumors
- Additional sizes: Earlier rumor coverage suggested two more sizes, but Samsung has not confirmed a successor range.
- Solid-state battery: A possible solid-state cell has appeared in rumor roundups, including Tom’s Guide. No Samsung announcement or product document supports it.
- Temperature sensing changes: Rumors have mentioned an onboard temperature sensor, without verified technical details.
- iPhone compatibility: Executive comments hint that broader compatibility is being considered, but Samsung has not announced iPhone support.
When could Galaxy Ring 2 launch?
The leading report points to early 2027 and says a 2026 launch was highly unlikely. A Galaxy S27-era Unpacked introduction is plausible, but no event pairing or date has been confirmed. Samsung’s July 2026 Unpacked event passed without a full successor announcement, making a near-term 2026 launch less likely without proving that early 2027 is certain.
Coverage has also connected the extended timeline with development work and reported patent concerns involving Oura. That explanation remains partly speculative; the available reporting does not establish the legal or commercial effect of any dispute.

What the first Galaxy Ring already does
The current ring uses titanium construction, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, accelerometer, PPG and skin-temperature sensors, and integrates with Samsung Health. Samsung advertises up to seven days of battery life, a 361 mAh charging case, 10ATM water resistance and IP68 protection. Core Samsung Health tracking does not require a Samsung Health subscription, although some functions require a Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung account, Samsung Health, or Galaxy AI-compatible hardware.
U.S. general availability began July 24, 2024, at an official launch price of $399.99. Today’s retail price and stock can differ substantially by size, finish, promotion and remaining inventory.
Should you buy the current Galaxy Ring or wait?
Buy the current Ring now when these conditions fit
- You already use a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone.
- You want discreet sleep and wellness tracking immediately.
- Samsung Health integration matters more than experimental features.
- You find a substantial discount and accept first-generation limitations.
- You do not need iPhone support or a particular next-generation sensor.
Waiting makes more sense when these priorities are essential
- Maximum battery endurance is your main concern.
- You specifically want a thinner or lighter ring.
- You need possible cross-platform support and can wait until at least 2027.
- You are willing to wait for potentially improved sleep or cardiovascular analysis despite unknown price and specifications.
Reasons not to buy on rumor alone
- Do not purchase the current model expecting a future software unlock for iPhone compatibility.
- Do not treat glucose monitoring as a promised feature.
- Do not assume a reported nine-to-ten-day target will be real-world endurance.
- Use Samsung’s sizing process: fit affects comfort and battery capacity, and smart rings cannot be resized like ordinary jewelry.
- Check regional warranty, replacement and accidental-damage terms before paying for coverage; sealed wearables can be difficult or uneconomical to repair.
What remains unknown
- Final product name and model numbers
- Release date, launch event and regional availability
- Price, finishes and exact size range
- Successor dimensions, weight and battery chemistry
- Sensor changes and specific cardiovascular metrics
- Whether glucose-related monitoring will work or receive regulatory clearance
- iPhone and non-Samsung Android support details
- Subscription policy, warranty and repair arrangements
Bottom line
Samsung’s successor is real in the limited sense that executives have confirmed development. The rest of the story is still taking shape: reports point to early 2027, longer battery life, a more comfortable body and improved health analysis, while glucose monitoring, a solid-state battery, extra sizes and iPhone support remain unverified. Buy the current Galaxy Ring only if its existing Samsung-focused features and present price solve your problem; wait if endurance, broader compatibility or next-generation accuracy is worth postponing a purchase for an uncertain launch.
