That is historical deal information—not confirmation of the price today. The report also listed a four-pack for $62. Before buying, check the retailer’s current checkout price and seller, and make sure you have a compatible Samsung Galaxy device: SmartTag2 is not a full-featured tracker for iPhone or ordinary non-Samsung Android phones.
What the reported deal actually was
The 44% figure comes from NextPit’s deal article, published December 22, 2025. It reported one SmartTag2 at $16 against a stated $30 list price. The arithmetic using those two figures is $14 off, or about 46.7%; the publisher’s 44% may reflect a different reference price or rounding. The same article reported a four-pack at $62 against $99. These are dated prices, not a verified offer for October 2026.
| Option | Reported deal price | Stated reference price | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| One SmartTag2 | $16 | $30 | $14 saved; about 46.7% against $30. NextPit called it 44% off. |
| Four-pack | $62 total, or $15.50 per tag | $99 total | $37 saved against $99. |
Source for the prices, reference prices, and publisher’s discount claim: NextPit’s December 22, 2025 deal report. That report does not establish whether the offer was sold and shipped by Amazon or a third-party seller, which color was available, or whether a coupon, membership, quantity limit, or regional stock condition applied. Check those details at checkout; the old report also warned that prices could change.
What SmartTag2 does—and what it does not
SmartTag2 is a Bluetooth item tracker for Samsung’s SmartThings Find ecosystem, not a standalone GPS tracker. You can make a nearby tag ring, use nearby-finding tools over Bluetooth, and view a map location when participating Galaxy devices detect the tag and report it through Samsung’s finding network. The tag has Bluetooth Low Energy and UWB connectivity; directional Compass View finding requires a compatible UWB-enabled Galaxy phone. Samsung also describes SmartThings-compatible device controls and Lost Mode, which lets a finder with an NFC-capable phone and internet access read registered contact information and a message.
#1 Best Overall
- Find your things with ease: The SmartThings Find app uses Bluetooth and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate and keep track of your stuff
- Water and Dust Resistant: IP67 rating offers protection against dust and water immersion between 15 cm and 1 meter for up to 30 minutes
- Compatible with Galaxy Devices Only
The distinction matters: the tag has no independent GPS or cellular connection, and remote map location is not continuous tracking. If the tag is out of Bluetooth range and no participating Galaxy device passes nearby, an update may be delayed or unavailable. Samsung lists Bluetooth range up to 120 meters without obstacles, a best-case specification rather than a promised indoor range. Walls, drawers, vehicles, buildings, and crowds can reduce range or accuracy. Sources: Samsung’s U.S. SmartTag2 product page and Samsung’s launch announcement.
Check compatibility before buying
Samsung’s U.S. product page says setup and the intended SmartThings Find experience require a compatible Galaxy smartphone or tablet, a Samsung account, and enrollment in SmartThings Find. Its detailed feature requirement specifies Android 11 or later and at least 3 GB of free RAM. The same page’s specifications also list Galaxy-device compatibility from Android 9 or later, so Samsung’s wording is not entirely consistent. For setup and full feature expectations, use the more specific Android 11-and-3-GB requirement and confirm compatibility for your particular device.

- Samsung Galaxy owners: Check your model and software against Samsung’s requirements, then confirm SmartThings Find is available and enabled.
- UWB directional finding: Requires a compatible UWB-enabled Galaxy phone; UWB does not give the tag its own GPS.
- iPhone owners and non-Samsung Android owners: Do not buy expecting the full SmartThings Find experience. Samsung’s stated requirements center on Galaxy phones and tablets.
For an iPhone, Apple’s AirTag is designed for Apple’s Find My ecosystem: Apple AirTag. Tile offers multiple tracker forms and platform-neutral positioning: Tile trackers. Chipolo has models designed for Apple Find My and Google Find My Device, depending on the model: Chipolo products. These are ecosystem-specific options, not evidence that any one tracker works identically on every phone.
Battery, water resistance, and physical details
Samsung specifies a replaceable CR2032 coin-cell battery and battery life of up to 500 days under typical conditions. It says Power Saving Mode can extend battery life by up to 40%, which implies roughly 700 days if the maximum extension applies; that is a calculation from Samsung’s claim, not a guaranteed runtime. Power Saving Mode limits the tag to basic Bluetooth-finding functions. Frequent ringing or location checks, environment, and battery brand can affect life. If the battery runs out, the tag cannot actively report its location until you replace it.

The enclosure is rated IP67. Samsung’s stated test condition is immersion in up to 1 meter (about 3 feet) of water for up to 30 minutes. That is not unlimited waterproofing or protection against every impact, chemical, pressure, or repeated exposure; Samsung advises rinsing residue and drying the tag after water exposure. Samsung lists dimensions of 28.8 × 52.44 × 8.0 mm and weight of 13.75 g. Its oblong body has a built-in attachment opening; cases and other accessories are sold separately and availability can vary. How to set it up and test it
Samsung can change SmartThings labels and screens between app versions, but the expected setup is through the SmartThings app on a compatible Galaxy device.

Should you buy one or the four-pack?
At the historical prices, the four-pack worked out to $15.50 per tag, only 50 cents less per tag than the reported $16 single. The bulk option was not dramatically cheaper per unit, so buy according to how many items you will actually tag. A four-pack could suit keys, luggage, a backpack, and another often-misplaced item; if you are unsure about compatibility or how useful the finding network will be where you live, starting with one is the lower-commitment choice.
