Seiko’s SRPL83, SRPL85, SRPL87 and SRPL89 share the same core watch: a 42.5 mm Seiko 5 Sports SKX-series case, 4R36 automatic movement, day-date display and 10 bar water resistance. The practical choices are bracelet or silicone strap, dial color, listed weight and U.S. list price. Seiko’s U.S. product pages listed the bracelet models at $450 each and the silicone models at $400 each when checked in 2026; these are market-specific list prices, not guaranteed selling prices.
How the four references differ
The SRPL83 and SRPL85 come on stainless-steel bracelets; the SRPL87 and SRPL89 use silicone straps. Launch coverage identifies the colors as blue, black, yellow and orange respectively. Seiko’s U.S. product pages list the band type, weight and price; the color mapping was reported by Time+Tide Watches in June 2025, so check the current regional product images before choosing by color.

Why do the bracelet models cost $50 more?
On Seiko’s U.S. listings, each bracelet reference is $50 above either silicone reference. The listed weight also differs substantially: 187 g for the bracelet versions versus 100 g for the silicone versions. The published specifications establish the band and weight differences, but do not identify a separate movement or other core specification as the reason for the price gap. Treat the prices as U.S. manufacturer list prices, not a promise about retailer prices or a global price comparison.

What specifications do they share?
Seiko lists the same core specification set for all four models:
- Movement: Caliber 4R36 automatic with manual winding, approximately 41 hours of power reserve, 24 jewels and stop-seconds function.
- Display: Day and date.
- Case: Stainless steel, 42.5 mm diameter, 13.9 mm thick and 46.0 mm lug-to-lug.
- Crystal and visibility: Curved Hardlex crystal; LumiBrite on the hands and indexes.
- Water and magnetic resistance: 10 bar water resistance and 4,800 A/m magnetic resistance.
- Bezel: Unidirectional rotating bezel.
- Band fit: 22 mm distance between the lugs.
The bracelet models have a see-through screw case back and a three-fold clasp with push-button release and secure lock. The silicone models also have a see-through screw case back. Seiko specifies 10 bar water resistance; that figure and the rotating bezel alone do not establish an ISO dive-watch certification.

Which one should you choose?
Choose SRPL83 or SRPL85 for a bracelet
These are the steel-bracelet options, in reported blue (SRPL83) and black (SRPL85). Their listed weight is 187 g. Choose between them primarily by the dial color you prefer and current local price.
Choose SRPL87 or SRPL89 for silicone
These are the silicone-strap options, in reported yellow (SRPL87) and orange (SRPL89). Their listed weight is 100 g. If you are considering a replacement strap, the stated lug distance is 22 mm; verify the specific strap’s compatibility rather than assuming every 22 mm strap will fit correctly.

Check the dimensions against your wrist
All four share a 42.5 mm case diameter, 46.0 mm lug-to-lug measurement and 13.9 mm thickness. Those figures make them directly comparable on paper, but they cannot tell you exactly how a watch will sit on your wrist. Try one on if fit is a deciding factor.

Seiko describes the SKX series as inspired by its SKX sports watches, and its product copy presents the bracelet design as an evolution and the silicone band as recalling the original model. Time+Tide framed the 2025 launch as “7002-style.” That is the publication’s heritage interpretation; Seiko’s reviewed product descriptions call the watches SKX-inspired and do not explicitly identify the 7002 as their source.
