Seiko’s opening 145th-anniversary series brings together four watches—King Seiko, Prospex Speedtimer, Presage and Astron—united by gold-colored details but built for very different roles. The group ranges from an enamel-dial mechanical dress watch to a mechanical chronograph and a GPS Solar dual-time chronograph. One detail needs care: Seiko’s anniversary page lists the King Seiko as SJE121, while launch coverage calls it SJE151.
What are Seiko’s four opening anniversary watches?
Seiko presents the quartet as the first series in its 145th-anniversary program. The company, founded in 1881, gives this opening group warm gold accents; later anniversary series use Seiko Blue and Edo purple. The gold is a visual thread, not a shared design or movement platform.

The quantities and euro prices are launch-report figures, not verified current retail prices or availability. Fratello said the watches were expected to go on sale in February 2026 through Seiko boutiques and select retailers worldwide; that report does not establish present stock.
How the four watches differ
King Seiko: a compact mechanical design with a reference caveat
The King Seiko is the most explicitly heritage-shaped piece of the group: its tonneau case takes inspiration from the 45KCM, while the gray gradient dial and gold-colored details give it the anniversary treatment. Its 39.4 mm diameter and 9.9 mm profile distinguish it from the smaller Presage. Do not treat SJE121 and SJE151 as interchangeable: the official anniversary page currently displays SJE121, whereas Fratello’s launch article names SJE151.

Prospex Speedtimer: mechanical chronograph
The Speedtimer is the quartet’s conventional mechanical chronograph. Its 8R48 uses a column wheel and vertical clutch, and Seiko’s launch coverage gives it a 45-hour power reserve. The white radial-pattern dial makes the gold accents especially visible without changing the watch’s tool-chronograph identity.
Presage: enamel-dial dress watch
The SPB538 takes a quieter, dress-oriented route. Its 35 mm case, white enamel dial and Roman numerals refer to Seiko’s Timekeeper pocket watch; the 6R51 automatic movement provides a stated 72-hour power reserve. Its water resistance is specified at 50 m.

Astron: satellite-set travel functionality
The SSH186 is the functional outlier. It combines GPS Solar timekeeping with dual-time and chronograph functions, using satellite time adjustment and time-zone switching rather than relying solely on a conventional mechanical movement. The listed features also include a perpetual calendar, independent hour-hand adjustment and power-saving mode; the source material does not state its case dimensions or water-resistance rating.

Seiko’s 145th-anniversary page frames the first series around gold accents, the second around Seiko Blue and the third around Edo purple. The page lists the first-series references as SJE121, SRQ059, SSH186 and SPB538.

The program continued with additional releases announced on May 14, 2026. In Presage, Seiko introduced HCC007 with an Arita porcelain dial and HCC004 with a silk-inspired dial; both use Caliber 6R51 with a 72-hour power reserve. Seiko lists 3-bar water resistance for HCC007 and 10-bar for HCC004, limited quantities of 1,500 and 2,500 respectively, and regional availability beginning in July and June 2026. Details are in Seiko’s May 14, 2026 Presage release.
Seiko’s Australian Prospex announcement covered blue-accented HBC005 and HBB001 divers, rated to 300 m and 200 m water resistance respectively. The company reported limited editions of 4,000 and 9,999 and Australian recommended retail prices of AUD $2,200 and AUD $950. Those prices are for the Australian market as stated in the May 14, 2026 release, not universal current pricing.

What to keep in mind before choosing one
- Choose by function first: the King Seiko and Presage are automatic three-hand-oriented choices, the Speedtimer adds a mechanical chronograph, and the Astron offers GPS Solar time-zone functionality.
- For a smaller stated case, the Presage is 35 mm; the King Seiko is 39.4 mm in diameter. The cited launch information does not provide comparable case dimensions for the Speedtimer or Astron.
- Only the Presage’s 50 m rating is specified in the launch details summarized here. Lack of a listed rating for another model should not be read as a claim that it has none.
- Check current local retailer listings for stock, price and the exact King Seiko reference before purchase; the cited launch report’s February 2026 timing and euro prices are historical launch details.
