Seiko’s new Prospex 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch HBC011 is a fan-selected take on the 62MAS, with a blue wave-patterned dial, a 40 mm case, a 6R55 automatic movement and 300 meters of diver’s water resistance. Seiko announced it for October 2026 as a 4,500-piece limited edition, with a U.S. recommended retail price of $1,400. This is a specification preview, not a hands-on review: the announcement does not establish how the watch wears or performs in use.
What the HBC011 is—and why it is called a 62MAS
HBC011 is the model identifier for Seiko’s 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch, announced on August 26, 2026. Seiko says its design was selected by fans through an online and in-person campaign held July 1–31, 2025. The winning concept takes its color and texture cues from a daytime seascape: a vibrant blue dial carries a wave-inspired pattern. Seiko describes the watch as based on its 1965 diver, known among fans as the 62MAS. Seiko’s announcement does not claim that the HBC011 is a literal reproduction of every detail of the original.
Seiko says the original 1965 diver had an automatic movement and 150 meters of water resistance. The company also reports that Japanese researchers used it in Antarctica during the 1960s. That history provides context for the name, but the new model’s specifications should be read on their own terms.

How it compares with the 2023 SJE093 re-creation
The SJE093 is a useful reference because Seiko presented it as a re-creation of its first diver. The figures below are published model specifications, not results from a comparative test. The SJE093’s cited UK release does not give a U.S. price, so the prices are not comparable.
| Published specification | HBC011 fan-selected edition | SJE093 1965 Diver’s Re-creation |
|---|---|---|
| Movement | Automatic Caliber 6R55 | Caliber 6L37 |
| Stated power reserve | Approximately 72 hours | 45 hours |
| Case diameter | 40.0 mm | 38.0 mm |
| Thickness | 13.0 mm | 12.5 mm |
| Water resistance | 300 meters, diver’s | 200 meters, diver’s |
| Edition size | 4,500 | 1,965 |
| Announced release timing | From October 2026 | Not stated in the cited UK release |
| Announced price | $1,400 U.S. recommended retail price | Not stated in the cited UK release |
The SJE093’s dimensions, movement, reserve, water resistance and edition size come from Seiko’s July 4, 2023 release; HBC011 figures come from the August 26, 2026 announcement. On paper, the HBC011 is 2.0 mm wider and 0.5 mm thicker, has 100 meters more stated water resistance and a longer stated power reserve. Those differences do not establish which model is more comfortable, accurate or capable in real-world diving.

What this announcement does—and does not—tell you
The release establishes the HBC011’s design concept, published specifications, limited-edition quantity, announced timing and U.S. recommended retail price. It does not provide a basis for claims about measured timekeeping, wrist comfort, bezel operation, clasp quality or dive performance. Nor does it state lug width, so bracelet or strap compatibility should not be assumed from the published information.
For a buyer comparing the HBC011 with the SJE093, the clearest distinction is the stated design direction: the HBC011’s fan-selected blue, wave-patterned daytime-sea concept and larger published dimensions versus the SJE093 re-creation’s smaller stated dimensions. Whether those differences matter on the wrist requires trying the watches on; the published specifications alone cannot settle that question.
