The Seiko Prospex Land Tortoise SRPG13K1 and SRPG15K1 are 2021 automatic watches built around a Turtle-shaped case, but their rotating bezel is a compass scale for land navigation—not a dive-timing bezel. The practical choice between them is mainly the colorway: beige and green for the SRPG13K1, or blue and grey for the SRPG15K1. Both share a 4R35 movement, sapphire crystal, 20-bar water resistance and the same 42.4 mm case.
What is the Seiko Land Tortoise?
The Land Tortoise adapts Seiko’s familiar Turtle-shaped case for an exploration-themed watch. Its defining feature is a rotating compass bezel in place of the elapsed-time scale found on a conventional dive watch. Seiko’s 2021 announcement positioned the models for land exploration, and the launch models were scheduled to reach Seiko boutiques, its online boutique and selected specialist retailers from the end of May 2021 (Seiko announcement).
The compass scale can support basic orientation when used with a compass-bearing method, but it is not a substitute for a dedicated navigation instrument. In Monochrome Watches’ hands-on coverage, writer Brice Goulard described the bezel as “more of a design statement than something that will be often used” (Monochrome Watches). That is a useful expectation to set: the bezel gives the watch its distinctive look, while its everyday utility depends on whether the wearer actually navigates by compass.
SRPG13K1 vs. SRPG15K1: what is different?
The principal visible difference is the dial-and-bezel color combination. The SRPG13K1 is beige and green; the SRPG15K1 is blue and grey. They belong to the same 2021 release and share the core case, movement and feature set.

The supplied polyester/textile band is part of the practical presentation as well as the appearance. Seiko specifies 20 mm lug spacing, so a compatible replacement strap should match that width; material, buckle fit and strap length still matter when choosing one.
How the Land Tortoise wears and works
Case size and wrist presence
Seiko lists a 42.4 mm case diameter, 11.7 mm thickness and 45.2 mm lug-to-lug measurement, with 20 mm between the lugs (Seiko UK SRPG13 page). The lug-to-lug figure is useful when judging how the watch may span a wrist, while the diameter and rotating bezel contribute to its broad, purposeful look. Fit is personal, so the measurements are more informative than assuming the watch will suit every wrist based on diameter alone.

Movement and daily operation
Inside is Seiko’s 4R35 automatic calibre, which can also be wound manually. Seiko specifies 23 jewels, hacking seconds—allowing the seconds hand to stop while setting the time—and a date display. Its stated power reserve is approximately 41 hours (Seiko UK SRPG13 page). That reserve is a specification, not an accuracy rating; the cited product information does not establish a particular real-world accuracy result for either reference.
Legibility, crystal and water resistance
The hands and indexes use LumiBrite, and the dial is protected by sapphire crystal. Seiko’s current UK product page states 20 bar water resistance; Seiko’s launch technical sheet and Monochrome’s hands-on review describe the rating as 200 m (Seiko UK SRPG13 page; Seiko announcement; Monochrome Watches). The watch also has a screw-down crown and screw caseback. This substantial water-resistance specification does not turn the compass bezel into a dive timer: it remains a compass-style bezel designed around the land-exploration concept.

How much do the SRPG13K1 and SRPG15K1 cost?
There is no single universal price in the available regional listings. Monochrome reported a launch price of EUR 540 for both references, with availability beginning in May 2021. Seiko’s regional pages show different list prices: GBP 490 for the SRPG13 on the UK page and USD 510 on the Middle East page. These are market-specific list-price snapshots, not a current worldwide street price; check the relevant local Seiko page and retailer for live pricing and stock (Seiko UK SRPG13 page; Seiko Middle East SRPG13 page; Monochrome Watches).

Is the Seiko Land Tortoise a dive watch?
It has 20-bar water resistance, a screw-down crown and a screw caseback, but it is not presented as a dive-timer model. Its bezel is a compass scale intended for land orientation, not a unidirectional elapsed-time bezel for tracking a dive. If your priority is measuring elapsed dive time, choose a watch designed with a dive-timing bezel rather than treating the Land Tortoise’s compass scale as an equivalent.

- Choose the SRPG13K1 if you prefer its beige-and-green palette.
- Choose the SRPG15K1 if the blue-and-grey combination better suits your wardrobe or taste.
- Compare the actual fit against the 42.4 mm diameter and 45.2 mm lug-to-lug dimensions, especially if you tend to find broad cases uncomfortable.
- Think about the bezel honestly: it is a distinctive compass-style design with a potential orientation use, not a dive-timing tool.
- Check local pricing and stock before deciding; list prices vary by region and launch figures date to 2021.
For buyers drawn to the Turtle-derived shape, textile strap and unusual compass bezel, the Land Tortoise offers a clearly differentiated Prospex look. The two references use the same underlying platform, so the colorway and wrist fit—not a different movement or feature package—are the meaningful reasons to choose one over the other.
