Seiko’s Prospex Speedtimer GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph family comprises two regular models, SSH165 and SSH167, plus SSH169, a 1,000-piece 100th-anniversary limited edition. The watches use Caliber 5X83; the SSH165J1 retailer listing specifies GPS time and time-zone adjustment, dual time, and a 1/20-second stopwatch. The models were announced for availability from October 2024, so present-day stock and pricing need to be checked by market and exact reference.
What the Seiko Speedtimer GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronograph does
The family combines solar power, GPS time and time-zone adjustment, a second time-zone display, and a chronograph. Seiko identifies SSH165 and SSH167 as Caliber 5X83 GPS Solar Dual-Time Chronographs; its official page also lists SSH169 as the 100th-anniversary limited edition. Seiko’s SSH165J1 product listing describes a 1/20-second stopwatch and dual-time-zone function. These functions are product specifications, not a report of independent testing.
Dual time and chronograph operation
In a September 11, 2024 article, Fratello’s launch coverage describes the second time zone on the subdial at six o’clock and says Time Transfer swaps the displayed main-dial and subdial times when two pushers are held for three seconds. That operating description is attributed to the dated specialist report; consult the official manual for the exact operating instructions for your reference.

Seiko’s official family page gives October 2024 as the availability date for the references. The official page describes SSH169’s gold-colored accents as part of the anniversary treatment. Price and availability: treat launch figures as historical
Fratello reported €2,300 for SSH165 and SSH167 and €2,500 for SSH169 in its September 11, 2024 launch coverage. Those are launch-period reported prices, not current quotes. The Seiko Boutique listing displayed €2,300 for SSH165J1 when accessed in 2026, but that regional retailer listing does not establish today’s price or worldwide availability. Check a current Seiko or authorized-retailer listing in your market and confirm the full reference suffix before relying on a price or stock status.

Speedtimer heritage
Seiko’s collection page says the company introduced the Speedtimer with Caliber 6139 in 1969 and describes it as the world’s first automatic chronograph with a column wheel and vertical clutch. That is Seiko’s own historical account; it provides context for the Speedtimer name but does not change the specifications of the modern GPS Solar models. Read Seiko’s Speedtimer collection history.
