Universal Genève marked the 70th anniversary of SAS’s 1954 transpolar flight on 15 November 2024 with three unique Polerouter SAS tribute watches. The one-off trio offered an early signal of the brand’s planned 2026 return—not a limited retail collection: the white-gold watch was designated for a May 2025 Phillips auction, while the steel and red-gold watches were assigned to the brand archive.
Why the Polerouter is tied to SAS
Universal Genève dates the Polerouter’s design to 1954, when Gérald Genta was 23. The brand says the watch was created in tribute to SAS’s Copenhagen–Los Angeles flight over the North Pole. Its history also identifies resistance to magnetic fields as a feature of the model. Universal Genève’s history of the Polerouter
The flight provided the historical link behind the anniversary watches. Universal Genève and Phillips framed the 2024 release as marking 70 years since that 1954 journey.
What were the three Polerouter SAS tribute watches?
They were one-of-a-kind modern tributes in three case metals, not three standard references produced for routine sale. The available announcement and auction material does not establish a complete specification set for each watch.

| Tribute watch | Metal and known details | Announced destination |
|---|---|---|
| Steel | Stainless steel; further specifications not stated in the cited announcement and Phillips coverage. | Universal Genève archive. |
| Red-gold | Red gold, also described by Phillips as pink gold; further specifications not stated in the cited announcement and Phillips coverage. | Universal Genève archive. |

Universal Genève announced the trio on 15 November 2024. Universal Genève’s announcement and magazine and Phillips’ account of the Polerouter SAS tributes describe the watches and their planned dispositions.
Could you buy one of the SAS tributes?
The three were unique watches, and the announced plan was for two to go to the brand archive and the white-gold example to be offered at auction. The reviewed announcement and catalogue material do not establish the auction’s final outcome or price, current ownership, or any present resale availability. They therefore do not support treating the trio as retail models currently for sale.

How the 2024 one-offs relate to Universal Genève’s return
The trio served as an early signal of Universal Genève’s stated 2026 revival. They should be kept distinct from the brand’s current Polerouter collection, which lists a 37 mm Prêt-à-Porter Polerouter, a 39 mm Polerouter Date, and capsule families including Camaïeu and Hardstone. The official collection describes the Polerouter’s design codes as a crosshair dial, bezel, and twisted lugs. These current listings are separate from the three unique SAS tributes.
