With a production update released December 11, 2023, you can ask Siri for supported activity and wellness readings or dictate entries such as medication, weight, menstrual-cycle details, blood pressure, blood glucose, and temperature.
The feature first appeared in the watchOS 10.2 beta reported on October 27, 2023. It is not available on every Apple Watch that can install watchOS 10.2: on Apple Watch, Apple limits Siri Health access and logging to Series 9 and Ultra 2.
What Siri can do with Health data
Read supported activity and fitness information
Apple says Siri can answer requests for more than 20 supported Health app data types. Examples include:
- Move- and Exercise-ring progress
- Step count
- Walking and cycling distance
- Current heart rate and average walking heart rate
- Blood oxygen
- Sleep duration
- Respiratory rate
- Blood glucose and blood pressure values already stored in Health
Blood-glucose and blood-pressure answers depend on a compatible third-party monitor whose readings are connected to the Health app. Siri does not make the watch a standalone glucose or blood-pressure meter. Apple’s examples and supported categories are described in its Health-data announcement; not every Health category is necessarily available through Siri.

Write new Health entries
You can dictate a new value or event instead of opening the Health app. Representative commands include:
- “I took my 8 a.m. medications.”
- “Log that I took my multivitamin.”
- “I weigh 167 pounds.”
- “My period started today.”
- “Log that I have spotting today.”
- “My blood sugar is 122.”
- “Record my blood pressure as 118 over 76.”
- “Log my body temperature as 98.3 degrees.”
Medication logging works only after the medication list has been configured in Health. Siri records the information you provide; it does not independently validate a dictated number or diagnose a condition.
Compatible devices and software
The following distinctions matter: being able to install watchOS 10.2 is not the same as receiving Siri Health access on Apple Watch.

Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy Series 9 and Ultra 2 are required
Series 9 and Ultra 2 use Apple’s S9 SiP, including a four-core Neural Engine. Apple introduced that hardware with on-device Siri processing, which is what allows recognized Health requests to be handled locally. The S9 rationale is described in Apple’s Series 9 announcement.
On-device means a recognized Health read or write request can be completed without sending the Health information to Apple’s servers. It does not mean every Siri interaction is offline or that the watch never communicates with Apple. General Siri requests that require internet services continue to follow normal Siri behavior.

The privacy boundary
Apple warns that classification matters. If Siri recognizes the utterance as a Health request, the local-processing protection applies. If it does not, the request follows normal Siri processing, and health information included in that utterance may be sent to Apple servers. Treat “on-device” as a property of correctly recognized Health requests, not a blanket guarantee for everything said to Siri.
How to enable Siri Health access
On iPhone
- Open Settings.
- Tap Health.
- Tap Data Access & Devices.
- Tap Siri.
- Turn on Access Health Data.
On Apple Watch
- Open Settings.

Apple’s documentation lists English (United States) and Mandarin Chinese (China mainland) as supported Siri languages for this capability. Availability can vary by language and region, so check the setting if the option is missing.

These are representative examples from Apple and contemporary coverage, not a promise of one fixed phrase for every category. Siri may ask for confirmation or require a clearer “log” or “record” instruction.

Limits you should expect
Recent data may work better on the watch
During the beta, third-party testing reported that the watch commonly answered from roughly the previous week of locally available Health data, while the iPhone could access longer history. That was beta-era behavior, not a permanent published storage limit. Ask the watch for recent readings first; for older or longer-range trends, use the Health app on iPhone. If a historical query fails on the watch, the absence of an answer does not mean the record is missing.
Prerequisites can block a log
- Medication entries require a configured medication list.
- Blood-pressure and glucose values require a connected compatible monitor or an existing Health record.
- The watch must be Series 9 or Ultra 2 and on watchOS 10.2 or later.
- Siri Health access must be enabled and Siri must use a documented supported language.
It is not a medical-monitoring system
Siri is a retrieval and data-entry convenience. It does not verify whether a manually dictated blood pressure, glucose, temperature, or medication event is medically plausible, and it should not replace a clinician, a validated monitor, or urgent medical care.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. If Siri cannot read or log a value
- Confirm the watch model and software version.
- Recheck the Health permission path on the iPhone or watch.
- Use an explicit verb such as “log” or “record,” and state the category and value plainly.
- Open Health and configure the category, medication list, or connected monitor.
- After Siri responds, verify the entry in Health.
- Try the iPhone for older historical queries.
If a request is interpreted as a normal Siri command rather than a Health command, rephrasing can also reduce the privacy ambiguity described in Apple’s support guidance.

From beta feature to production release
The feature was reported during the watchOS 10.2 beta cycle on October 27, 2023, when beta software could still change or contain bugs. Apple shipped the production capability with watchOS 10.2 on December 11, 2023, as confirmed in its release announcement. There is no reason to install that obsolete beta today merely to obtain Siri Health logging.
Should you buy a compatible Apple Watch for this?
Series 9 or Ultra 2 can make sense if you frequently record medication, menstrual-cycle, weight, temperature, or other Health data while your hands are busy, and you value local processing for recognized Health requests. Ultra 2 is the better fit only if its larger rugged design and outdoor features also matter to you; Siri logging alone does not justify its form factor.
An older Apple Watch owner who rarely enters Health data is unlikely to gain enough from this feature to justify an upgrade solely for occasional step or heart-rate questions. Those readings remain available in Apple’s existing Health and Fitness interfaces. No separate Apple subscription is identified as a prerequisite; the requirements are supported hardware, software, Siri configuration, Health permissions, and any required connected monitor.
For product details, consult Apple’s comparison page, Apple Watch overview, and current buying page. The original Series 9 hardware context is documented at Apple Newsroom. Current prices and successor-model compatibility are not established here and should be verified before purchase.
