No. Amazon Prime Day 2023 ran July 11–12, but Apple did not announce Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2 until September 12. Those watches therefore were not July Prime Day 2023 deals. Amazon discounts were reported after launch, including an Ultra 2 price during October’s Prime Big Deal Days.
Why the “Prime Day 2023” title is misleading
Amazon’s U.S. Prime Day event began July 11, 2023, at 3 a.m. EDT and ran through July 12, according to Amazon’s June 20 event announcement. Apple announced Series 9 and Ultra 2 on September 12, so neither model could have been offered during that July event. The announcement describes Prime-member deal access, invite-only offers, and deal alerts, but does not identify offers for watches that had not yet been announced.
The likely source of confusion is Amazon’s October Prime Big Deal Days. The watches had launched by then, and contemporaneous reports covered discounts in that event window. Those October prices should not be relabeled as July Prime Day deals.
When the watches launched and what they cost
Apple’s September 12, 2023 announcement said Apple Watch Ultra 2 would be available in stores starting September 22 at a U.S. price of $799. Apple described it as a 49 mm watch with the S9 SiP, double tap, on-device Siri, Precision Finding for iPhone, and an improved display. Apple’s battery estimates were up to 36 hours in regular use and up to 72 hours in Low Power Mode; these are manufacturer claims, not independent test results. Details are in Apple’s announcement.

Series 9 and Ultra 2 launch-day discounts were reported on September 22. That is evidence of post-launch pricing—not a July Prime Day offer.

October Prime Big Deal Days
On October 10, MacRumors reported Ultra 2 at about $749 against Apple’s $799 U.S. price, describing it as a new low at that time. This is the clearest supported Prime-event discount for Ultra 2 in the available reporting, but it was for October’s Prime Big Deal Days, not July Prime Day. The report notes the watch had launched in September: MacRumors’ October 10 coverage.
A separate TechRadar report dated October 9, on the eve of October’s Prime Big Deal Days, listed Series 9 GPS 41 mm at $389.99 and Ultra 2 at $774. Its price baselines differ from other reporting, so these figures are separate date-specific snapshots, not a single like-for-like comparison with the October 10 prices. How to compare a Series 9 or Ultra 2 listing
Historical sale prices only make sense when the exact model and date are clear. Series 9 listings can differ across several factors:
- Case size: 41 mm or 45 mm.
- Connectivity: GPS or GPS + Cellular.
- Case material: aluminum or stainless steel.
- Band: band choice can change the specific listing and its price.
- Offer timing: compare prices from the same date and event, and check whether stock was available at the quoted price.
Ultra 2 is a 49 mm model. Compare listings by band and seller or configuration, and keep the listing date beside any price. Apple’s $799 figure is its stated U.S. price; the reported $749 and $774 October figures came from different reports and dates, so they should not be merged into one sale price.

Does this establish a current deal?
No. The cited amounts are historical reports from September and October 2023, not current offers. They do not establish today’s price, stock, seller, or return terms. Check those details on the listing before buying, and confirm that the offer matches the intended case size, connectivity, material, and band.
An AppleInsider page with “Prime Day 2023” in its framing refers in its body to 2024 and displays current or updated price links. It should not be treated as evidence that Series 9 or Ultra 2 were available during July 2023 Prime Day: AppleInsider’s deals page.
