Xiaomi launched the Mijia Body Composition Scale S200 in China in May 2024 for 69 yuan, with sales scheduled for May 20. It is a Bluetooth household scale that tracks weight and offers BMI, standard-weight and weight-control calculations, app history, multi-user profiles and a balance test. Despite the “in-depth body analysis” positioning, Xiaomi’s documented core metrics do not establish a full clinical-style panel of body-fat, muscle, water or visceral-fat readings.
Price, naming and availability
The China-market product is called the Mijia Body Composition Scale S200 and carries model number MJTZC02YM. Xiaomi’s international product pages generally call it the Xiaomi Smart Scale S200. The reported Chinese launch price was 69 yuan; that was a May 2024 launch price, not a current U.S. retail price. See the launch report and Chinese Xiaomi shop listing.
Xiaomi now lists the S200 on regional sites including its global, Japanese, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, Colombian and Romanian websites. A regional listing does not guarantee local stock, language support, app compatibility or warranty coverage. Importers should confirm the exact market edition, Xiaomi Home region and seller warranty before ordering.

What the S200 actually measures
Weight and BMI
The primary function is household weight tracking. BMI is calculated from weight in kilograms divided by height in metres squared. It is a weight-to-height reference and does not distinguish muscle from fat or diagnose a health condition.
Standard weight and weight control
Xiaomi defines standard weight as a reference produced by a standard-body-weight formula. Weight control is the difference between that reference and the user’s current weight. The app can use these figures for weight-management suggestions. Xiaomi explains these terms in its support documentation.
Bone weight, balance and history
Launch coverage also reports a bone-weight reading and a one-leg balance test that assesses coordination, stability and reaction capability. These are wellness features, not medical assessments. The app stores historical measurements so users can view trends over time.

What is not confirmed
The available official S200 documentation does not clearly confirm a broad set of outputs such as body-fat percentage, muscle mass, visceral fat, water percentage, protein or metabolic age. The product name and marketing language should therefore not be read as proof of a complete clinical body-composition analysis.

“Supports HyperOS Connect” describes ecosystem connectivity, not an operating system running inside the scale. The S200 pairs over Bluetooth with Xiaomi’s Mi Home/Xiaomi Home platform, where users can synchronize readings, maintain profiles and review longer-term reports. Launch coverage says the app can support up to 36 household members and includes a guest mode that avoids retaining temporary users’ data.
Actual pairing screens, available languages, cloud synchronization and firmware behavior can vary with the phone, Xiaomi account and selected app region. HyperOS branding does not guarantee that every Xiaomi phone or smart-home device exposes every S200 feature.

Accuracy, increments and proper setup
A 0.05 kg display increment is not the same as 0.05 kg accuracy across the entire range. Xiaomi’s stated maximum errors are:

- Place the scale on hard, level flooring rather than carpet.
- Step on smoothly and keep your centre of gravity near the middle.
- Measure under similar conditions when comparing trends.
Flooring, off-centre loading, clothing, meals, exercise and time of day can all affect consumer-scale readings. Any composition estimate that a particular regional version provides should be treated as a trend aid, not a laboratory result.

Object, baby and guest weighing
Launch reports describe object and baby-weighing modes. In practical use, an adult can weigh alone, then weigh while holding the baby or object and use the difference between the readings. This is an advertised household use case, not a substitute for a dedicated infant scale; stability and staying within the 150 kg total range matter.
Guest mode is intended for temporary users, while household profiles keep recurring users’ histories separate. The reported 36-member figure concerns the app ecosystem and may vary by account region or software version.

The one-leg test should be treated as a simple wellness challenge. Perform it beside a counter, wall or sturdy support, and skip it if you have a fall risk, mobility limitation or balance problem. Footwear, fatigue, flooring and age can change the result, which should not be interpreted as a diagnosis.

Battery life and day-to-day ownership
Xiaomi or launch coverage claims up to 180 days from the three AAA batteries. That is a maximum claim rather than an independent test result; usage frequency, Bluetooth synchronization, battery quality and temperature affect actual life.
A China-market unit may have different firmware, app-region behavior and update availability when used elsewhere. Local warranty support generally depends on the market of purchase, so imported buyers should rely on the seller’s written terms rather than assume worldwide coverage.
Who should buy the S200?
Good fit
- Xiaomi Home users who want inexpensive Bluetooth weight tracking.
- Households needing multiple profiles and guest weighing.
- People primarily interested in weight, BMI and trend history.
- Buyers who can verify regional app support and warranty terms.
Poor fit
- Anyone requiring medically validated body-fat or body-composition measurements.
- Users who need Wi-Fi syncing without a phone nearby.
- Buyers unwilling to use a Xiaomi account or proprietary app.
- People seeking ECG, segmental analysis or a fully documented advanced metric set.
- Users for whom the one-leg balance test would be unsafe.
How to compare it with alternatives
Compare the S200 by the features that affect ownership rather than by the “body composition” label alone:
- Measurement scope: confirmed weight-management metrics versus documented impedance estimates.
- Connectivity: Bluetooth-only operation versus Wi-Fi synchronization.
- Platform support: Xiaomi Home versus Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit or another service.
- Regional support: official local stock, warranty, language and app availability.
- Accuracy evidence: stated tolerances, not just a fine display increment.
- Privacy and accounts: cloud history, account requirements and guest-data handling.
- Power: replaceable AAA batteries versus a rechargeable design.
Verdict
The S200’s strongest proposition is straightforward: low-cost, app-connected weight tracking for Xiaomi households, with useful BMI and weight-control references, shared profiles and a balance test. Its limits are just as important. The official evidence supports a wellness scale centred on weight management, not a medically validated full-body-composition analyzer. International buyers should verify local availability, app-region compatibility, delivered cost and warranty before importing it.
