The original Crystal is now a discontinued-era Bluetooth watch. It can still serve as a decorative wrist accessory for basic notifications and occasional phone calls, but only if a used unit has a healthy battery, its dedicated charging dock, and a companion app that actually works with your phone. It is not a sensible choice for modern fitness tracking, swimming, dependable current-app notifications, GPS, or long-term software support.
Which Zeblaze Crystal is this?
Marketplace listings often blur three different products. Check the case, box, settings screen and charging hardware before buying.
| Model | Display and hardware | App and protection | How to distinguish it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Original Crystal (2015) | 1.54-inch curved 240×240 LCD, Bluetooth 4.0, MTK2502, 280 mAh battery, dedicated charging dock | Fundo Wear/Fundo-related software; historically listed as IP65 | Square metal watch with curved glass, often a leather strap |
| Crystal 2 | 1.29-inch 240×240 IPS display, 180 mAh battery, about 34 g | WearHealth app; IP67 claim | Silicone band and a newer, smaller case; phone-assisted GPS functions |
| Crystal 3 | 1.3-inch 240×240 IPS display, 200 mAh battery, about 27 g, built-in USB charging | Happy Sport app; IP67 claim; advertised blood-pressure and blood-oxygen features | USB charging and a different app identify the later generation |
Crystal 2 details are listed at zeblaze.info/crystal2.html, while Crystal 3 information appears at zeblaze.info/crystal3.html. Their specifications and apps should not be used to describe the original Crystal.

Design and display
The Crystal was styled like a small dress watch rather than a fitness band. Its square metal front, curved tempered glass and leather strap looked unusually refined for an inexpensive Chinese smartwatch of its era. The strap uses a standard replaceable design according to contemporary testing, so a worn band can be replaced if the case and spring bars are sound.
The 1.54-inch 240×240 LCD is large enough for menus and dial-pad buttons, but it has visible bezels. Reviews noted reflections, light bleed and limited outdoor readability compared with newer bright IPS or AMOLED panels. Curved glass also increases glare and makes finding a replacement screen more difficult. On a used example, inspect for cracks, edge lifting, dead touch areas and bright patches before paying.

Bluetooth calling
The watch has a speaker and microphone and can answer or place calls through a paired phone. Quiet-room call quality was considered acceptable in contemporary testing, but the speaker was not loud enough for noisy driving conditions. The phone must remain nearby, and Bluetooth, phone audio routing and the watch battery all affect results. It is not a cellular watch and cannot replace the phone.
Notifications and messaging
It can display call, message and selected app notifications, with historical filtering through the companion software. Formatting is basic, and this is not equivalent to modern replies by keyboard or voice. A Bluetooth connection alone does not guarantee delivery: notification access, background operation and battery permissions may be required, and current Android or iOS apps may not format messages correctly.
Rank #3
- Please note that this protective film is made of flexible plastic. And it's intentionally made smaller than the screen for installation.
- 99% transparency preserves the original screen's brightness and definition.
- 4H hardness protects your screen from daily scratches, scrapes, and normal signs of wear.
- Self-healing technology enables the film to recover from minor scratches in 48 hours.
- Bubble-free, fingerprint-free, dust-resistant. No sticky residue when removed.
Utilities
Contemporary feature lists include a phonebook, T9 dial pad, call log, SMS screen, calendar, alarms, stopwatch, calculator, file manager, recorder, music controls, remote camera, pedometer, sedentary reminder and heart-rate monitor. These are simple built-in utilities, not downloadable smartwatch apps. Period feature coverage is documented at Android Headlines and Digital News.
Fitness and health tracking
The original Crystal was marketed for steps, activity, heart rate, sleep and sedentary alerts. However, a contemporary reviewer reported difficulty synchronizing health statistics even while the watch stayed connected for notifications. That makes the data pipeline, not just the sensor, a practical weakness.
- Heart-rate readings should be treated as wellness estimates.
- Steps and sleep results are approximate and may fail to sync.
- There is no evidence here of clinical-grade accuracy.
- Do not use readings for diagnosis, treatment, medication or emergency decisions.
The reported synchronization problem is described at Android Headlines.

Battery life and the charging dock
Historical material cites a 280 mAh battery and approximately 72 hours of standby, or roughly three days. That was an original specification or period estimate, not a promise for a watch manufactured around 2015. Lithium-polymer cells lose capacity with age, including during storage.
Before accepting a used unit, ask the seller to demonstrate:
- Charging from a low state to full without the watch disconnecting.
- A battery that lasts through at least a normal day of display, notifications and a short call.
- No swelling, unusual heat, random restarts or shutdowns under load.
- The original dock making reliable contact at both pins or contacts.
The dock is a major failure point. A watch sold without it may be unusable, and a Crystal 2 or Crystal 3 cable should not be assumed to fit.

Water resistance: IP65 is not swimming protection
One historical specification lists the original Crystal as IP65. That rating describes dust protection and resistance to water jets; it does not certify immersion. Do not swim or shower with it, and do not submerge it. Seals, adhesives and charging contacts on a surviving unit may be weaker than when new, even if the original marketing used the word “waterproof.”
Compatibility in 2026
Old reviews tested Android and iOS versions that are no longer current. Historical compatibility does not establish that the watch will pair, synchronize or deliver notifications on a modern phone. Basic Bluetooth discovery may succeed while the required Fundo-related app is unavailable or unable to run correctly.
- Identify the exact model from the back, box and settings/about screen.
- Ask which companion app the seller used and on which phone operating system.
- Check for that app in the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store before buying.
- Do not install an unknown APK merely to rescue a cheap listing; it creates privacy and malware risk.
- Test pairing, a phone call, notifications and health-data synchronization before the return period ends.
- Confirm that notification access, Bluetooth permissions and background operation can be granted on your phone.
There is no responsible basis to promise current universal Android or iPhone support without testing the exact phone and app versions.
Pros and cons for a 2026 buyer
What still works in its favor
- Distinctive square, watch-like styling.
- Speaker and microphone for basic Bluetooth calls.
- A broad set of simple utilities for its time.
- Replaceable strap design can make cosmetic refurbishment possible.
- Potentially useful as a very cheap notification and timekeeping accessory.
Why it is difficult to recommend
- Nearly decade-old hardware and software.
- Uncertain app availability and modern-phone compatibility.
- Reported health-data synchronization problems.
- No established onboard GPS or cellular service.
- Weak speaker in noisy environments and basic messaging.
- Dedicated dock and battery degradation can make a bargain unusable.
- IP65 is unsuitable for swimming or assumed shower use.
- No modern smartwatch app ecosystem, update path or assured support.
Who should buy it?
Consider it only as a low-priced used novelty or basic Bluetooth watch when the seller proves that it charges, pairs and performs the functions you need. It suits someone who values the retro dress-watch appearance, occasional phone calls and simple alerts more than current software or sensor quality.

Who should avoid it?
Avoid it if you need dependable notifications from current messaging services, accurate fitness or health records, standalone GPS, cellular independence, swimming use, a warranty, or a supported app. Also walk away when the listing omits the generation, charging dock or battery condition, or when its price approaches that of a current budget smartwatch.
Final verdict
The original Zeblaze Crystal was an attractive and unusually capable budget Bluetooth watch in 2015, but its advantages are now mostly cosmetic. In 2026, buy only at a truly low used price after verifying the exact model, dock, battery and companion-app compatibility. For reliable notifications, fitness tracking, water resistance or ongoing support, choose a current smartwatch instead.
