Jaeger-LeCoultre says it created the Reverso in 1931 for polo players. Its reversible case was designed to turn and protect the dial from shocks, and that mechanism became the watch line’s defining feature. The case design—not any one actor’s choice of dial or material—is the clearest common thread behind the examples in the 2017 list.
The brand’s current collection includes Classic, Tribute, Monoface, Duoface and Duetto models. Those names describe present-day collection options; they do not identify the watches shown in the actors’ photographs.
Monoface, Duoface and Duetto
- Monoface: a single-dial design.
- Duoface: a two-dial watch capable of displaying two time zones.
- Duetto: a design offering two aesthetic expressions.
These distinctions help explain the range of Reverso configurations, but the 2017 roundup does not establish which configuration any listed actor wore. Its only named family among the ten is Dev Patel’s Reverso Squadra.
How to read the actor list accurately
- Separate screen roles from personal appearances. Jon Hamm’s entry is about Don Draper; Christian Bale’s is framed through Bruce Wayne. Neither should be described as proof of the actor’s personal watch.
- Keep the model detail limited to what is stated. The article gives some visual descriptions and names the Squadra for Patel, but does not provide exact references for most entries.
- Treat the roundup as a dated selection. These are the ten people Time+Tide featured in 2017, not the only actors associated with the Reverso, nor a current ownership roster.
