Grand Seiko’s notable 2025 releases ranged from the annual-accuracy Spring Drive U.F.A. watches to a high-beat chronograph, compact 62GS models and a limited Evolution 9. This is a guide to selected models documented in the brand’s announcements—not a complete catalog of every 2025 release or a statement of current stock.
What stood out in Grand Seiko’s 2025 releases?
- The U.F.A. arrived with a new annual accuracy specification. Grand Seiko states that its automatic Spring Drive Caliber 9RB2 is accurate to ±20 seconds per year, with a 72-hour power reserve. The brand’s claim that it is the most accurate mainspring-powered wristwatch movement is based on its research as of April 2025.
- The U.F.A. family came in distinct materials and editions. The 37 mm SLGB001 is platinum and limited to 80 pieces; the titanium SLGB003 is non-limited. Later, the 37 mm Ever-Brilliant Steel SLGB005 was announced as a 1,300-piece limited edition.
- The year’s documented releases covered different kinds of watches. SLGC009 is a 43 mm high-beat chronograph; STGK031 and STGK033 are 30 mm automatic Heritage models; SLGH027 is a 40 mm high-beat Evolution 9 limited edition.

Spring Drive U.F.A.: SLGB001 and SLGB003
Grand Seiko introduced Caliber 9RB2 and the U.F.A. (“Ultra Fine Accuracy”) designation at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025. Unlike a daily-rate specification, the brand expresses the movement’s accuracy over a year: ±20 seconds. Grand Seiko attributes the result to manufacturing and processing improvements for a quartz oscillator aged for three months and to a newly designed integrated circuit. These are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results.
The two initial 37 mm watches share the movement, stated accuracy, 72-hour power reserve and 10 bar water resistance, but differ in material and status. SLGB001 combines Platinum 950 with a crocodile strap and is limited to 80 pieces. SLGB003 uses High-Intensity Titanium and a bracelet with a micro-adjustment clasp; the announcement identifies it as non-limited. Grand Seiko later said production-related circumstances had delayed the launch and scheduled it for July 2025.

Later U.F.A. model: SLGB005
Announced on September 25, 2025, SLGB005 extends the U.F.A. line with an Ever-Brilliant Steel case and a textured violet dial inspired by a frost-covered dawn. It retains the 9RB2’s stated ±20 seconds-per-year accuracy and 72-hour reserve. The 37 mm case is 11.4 mm thick; the edition is limited to 1,300 pieces. Grand Seiko announced boutique and selected-retailer availability from November 2025 and a recommended price of €11,000, subject to change.
Tokyo Lion Tentagraph: SLGC009
SLGC009 brings a chronograph to the year’s documented releases. Its automatic Caliber 9SC5 runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour and has a stated mean daily rate of +5 to −3 seconds, alongside a 72-hour reserve. The dial has a 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock.

The Tokyo Lion Sport watch measures 43 mm across and 15.6 mm thick. It uses Brilliant Hard Titanium—the first time, according to Grand Seiko, that the material was adopted in the Sport Collection—and is fitted with a rubber strap. The announcement specifies 20 bar water resistance, boutique availability beginning August 2025, and an approximate US recommended price of $16,400 at publication.
Compact 62GS pair: STGK031 and STGK033
These 30 mm Heritage Collection watches are mechanical alternatives for readers looking for a smaller case rather than a chronograph or a Spring Drive U.F.A. Both use automatic Caliber 9S27, with a stated mean daily rate of +8 to −3 seconds and a 50-hour reserve. Their stainless-steel cases are 10.5 mm thick and rated to 10 bar water resistance. Grand Seiko’s February 2025 US announcement described the dials as evoking cherry blossoms, gave an approximate recommended price of $6,400 each, and announced availability beginning in April.

Mt. Iwate Evolution 9: SLGH027
SLGH027 is a 40 mm Evolution 9 Hi-Beat 36000 80 Hours limited edition with a radial dial inspired by Mt. Iwate. Its automatic 9SA5 runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour; Grand Seiko gives a mean daily rate of +5 to −3 seconds and an 80-hour power reserve. The Ever-Brilliant Steel case and bracelet measure 11.7 mm thick, and water resistance is 10 bar. The Canadian February announcement set the limit at 1,200 pieces, cited May 2025 availability and listed a recommended price of C$14,700.
How to compare the releases
- Accuracy format: The U.F.A. models carry an annual accuracy claim; the mechanical 9SC5, 9S27 and 9SA5 models are specified by mean daily rate. Those figures are not directly interchangeable, and the U.F.A. figure is Grand Seiko’s stated specification rather than an independent test.
- Function: SLGC009 is the chronograph in this group. The other listed watches are time-only models.
- Size and materials: The STGK pair has the smallest diameter at 30 mm. U.F.A. models are 37 mm; SLGH027 is 40 mm; SLGC009 is 43 mm. Case material and strap or bracelet also distinguish the references, particularly the three U.F.A. variants.
- Edition status: SLGB001 is limited to 80, SLGB005 to 1,300, and SLGH027 to 1,200. SLGB003 is identified as non-limited.
- Price context: Compare prices only with their market and announcement date attached. The cited releases give US figures for SLGC009 and the STGK pair, a Canadian figure for SLGH027, a euro figure for SLGB005, and Swedish-market figures for the initial U.F.A. watches; they do not establish a single global price ranking.

That page is an event selection, not a claim to enumerate every model announced during the year. Separate official announcements document SLGH027, STGK031 and STGK033, and the later SLGB005. The available announcements support a guide to selected releases, but not an exhaustive year-end catalog, a total release count, or current availability across markets.
