Sellita’s SW200-2 Power+ is a thoroughly re-engineered evolution of the SW200-1, not merely a renamed variant. Its headline change is a typical 65-hour power reserve, up from 41 hours for the SW200-1, while the familiar 4 Hz (28,800 vibrations per hour) beat rate remains.
What the SW200-2 Power+ changes
Sellita announced the calibre as “a major evolution of the SW200-1,” saying it was “completely re-engineered to deliver a power reserve of 65 hours.” The company’s 4 June 2025 R&D bulletin says the calibre was thoroughly revised and that optimizations were made across the entire movement.
The reserve increase is 24 hours—approximately 59% over the SW200-1’s 41-hour typical figure, calculated from Sellita’s 2025 specifications. That is a substantial usability gain, but it should not be confused with a published accuracy test: the sources available for this launch contain no independent laboratory results or consumer rate statistics.

Where Sellita re-engineered the movement
Gear train and barrel
- Finishing-gear tooth profiles were revised.
- The barrel construction is new, with a redesigned mainspring system described by Monochrome Watches as part of a new gear train, barrel and mainspring.
- The barrel square changed from 1.07 mm to 0.95 mm. This is a component change, not evidence that older barrel parts are automatically interchangeable.
Regulating organ and balance
- The regulating organ and balance assembly were revised.
- Sellita introduced a new regulator system.
- Monochrome describes a regulating organ with reduced moment of inertia.
These changes may improve the movement’s regulation efficiency or dynamic behavior, but no published rate figures establish an accuracy improvement over the SW200-1.

Automatic winding, shock protection and plates
- Automatic winding was optimized, and two locating pins were added for the automatic-winding system.
- The shock absorbers were revised and made smaller in the new specification. Monochrome identifies the revised protection as Incabloc.
- The mainplate was reinforced. Monochrome also describes reworked brass bridges and mainplate work.
Other revised hardware
Sellita lists changed bridges, screws, the ratchet wheel, the stop lever and related components. Its bulletin also states that components not named in the document remain unchanged. That qualification matters: an SW200-2 is not a completely unrelated calibre, but neither is it a movement whose every part can be assumed to match an SW200-1.
Does it still beat at 4 Hz?
Yes. The SW200-2 Power+ retains a 4 Hz frequency, equivalent to 28,800 vibrations per hour. Keeping that rate preserves the familiar high-beat operating characteristic of the SW200 family while the redesign concentrates on reserve, winding, regulation, shock protection and component engineering.
Rank #2
Frequency alone does not determine accuracy. Regulation, adjustment, lubrication, wear, magnetism and the individual watch’s operating conditions all matter, and no independent accuracy results were published with this launch.
Will it run through the weekend?
A fully wound SW200-2 Power+ is specified for a typical 65-hour reserve—about two days and 17 hours. In practical terms, a watch left fully wound on Friday evening should have enough stated reserve to continue into Monday, assuming normal conditions and no unusual loss of amplitude.

The SW200-1’s typical 41-hour reserve is about one day and 17 hours, so a Friday-evening stop-start schedule can leave it stopped before Monday. These are typical specifications, not guarantees for every watch: how completely the mainspring is wound, how the watch is worn, service condition and friction all affect the actual run time.
Is the SW200-2 a direct replacement for the SW200-1?
At the layout level, the answer is partly yes: Sellita kept the familiar SW200 architecture and dimensions, which helps brands preserve established case and dial designs. At the parts and servicing level, it is not a simple drop-in parts swap.

What the marking means
Sellita says modified movements carry the “SW200-2” marking. A watchmaker should identify the calibre marking before ordering components, because the revised movement requires the new versions of the components changed in the bulletin.
What owners should not assume
- Do not assume an SW200-1 replacement part will fit an SW200-2 simply because both movements share the SW200 name.
- Do not assume an SW200-2 can be upgraded by exchanging only the barrel or mainspring; the redesign affects multiple systems.
- Do not assume the earlier domed date disc remains available for the new specification.
For a complete movement replacement, a brand or qualified watchmaker must confirm the exact calibre version and the parts available for that watch. The preserved dimensions make adoption easier for manufacturers, but they do not turn the two generations into one universal service platform.

What early adoption tells us
Brigade has announced that upcoming SC74 watches will use the SW200-2 Power+, citing the 65-hour reserve and 4 Hz frequency. That is evidence of manufacturer adoption in a specific model family, not evidence that every existing SW200-1 watch can be converted by its owner.
Questions to ask before buying or servicing one
- Which calibre is actually installed? Check the movement marking or the manufacturer’s specification rather than relying on a retailer’s generic “SW200” label.
- What reserve is being claimed? Treat 65 hours as Sellita’s typical SW200-2 specification, not a guaranteed result for every individual watch.
- Are the correct service parts available? The revised component versions are required for the modified movement.
- Does the watch use a date display? Confirm compatibility if a domed date disc is important, since Sellita says that version is no longer available.
- Is an accuracy claim independently supported? The launch material establishes the redesign and retained frequency, but not a measured rate advantage.
Bottom line
The SW200-2 Power+ is a meaningful second-generation redesign: it adds a typical 24 hours of reserve over the SW200-1, keeps the 4 Hz beat, and revises the barrel, gear train, winding system, regulator, shock protection and structural parts. Its dimensions remain familiar enough for brand adoption, but its updated components make servicing a version-specific job rather than a straightforward SW200-1 parts exchange.
