What Aircon Watch was
Aircon Watch was presented as a minimalist watch or wristband with a time-and-date display, OLED screen, physical controls and interchangeable straps. A thermal module was integrated into or attached to the strap and intended to sit against the inner wrist. It offered heating and cooling modes rather than the functions associated with a modern smartwatch.
Contemporary coverage described no fitness tracking, notifications or comparable smart features. Its purpose was personal thermal comfort, not general-purpose connected computing. The campaign called it “The World First Personal Air-Conditioning Watch,” but that name described the product’s intended effect, not conventional air-conditioning hardware.

How the ClimaCon concept was supposed to work
The company’s explanation had two parts:
- A small component in the strap would apply hot or cold pulses to the skin at the wrist.
- Those local sensations would influence signals associated with thermal comfort, making the wearer feel warmer or cooler more broadly.
The inner wrist was emphasized because nerves and blood vessels are relatively close to the skin there. The company said the brain could be “tricked” into perceiving a wider temperature change. That is a claim about sensation, not proof that the device could remove enough heat to cool the body’s core.
These terms are important:
- Local thermal stimulation: warming or cooling at the contact point.
- Thermal comfort: how hot or cold a person feels.
- Core temperature: the body’s internal temperature.
- Room cooling: transferring heat out of an enclosed space, as a conventional air conditioner does.
Aircon Watch addressed the first two concepts. The available material does not establish that it safely or materially lowered core temperature in hot conditions. The ClimaCon description appeared in contemporary coverage.
Was it really an air conditioner?
No, not in the engineering sense. A conventional air conditioner moves heat from one space to another, normally through a refrigeration cycle. Aircon Watch was a small wearable thermal stimulator. It did not cool the surrounding air, remove heat from a room or provide whole-body refrigeration.
A more accurate description is a wrist-based heating and cooling accessory intended to influence perceived comfort. Saying that it “cooled the body” without explaining this distinction overstates what the campaign established.

What the 2017 campaign claimed
The following figures were campaign-era specifications or claims reported by contemporary sources. They were not independently verified modern specifications.

Reports also said the device could produce a noticeable change within minutes, work in different seasons and time zones, and suit people sensitive to heat or cold, commuters, athletes and people experiencing hot flashes. Those statements were company positioning, not evidence of medical approval or treatment effectiveness. Battery and use claims appeared in contemporary reporting; display, temperature and pledge-price details were reported by Computer Bild and Oddity Central.
How successful was the crowdfunding campaign?
The Kickstarter campaign ran from September 12 to October 12, 2017. Its creator was listed as Airconwatch in Hong Kong.

A separate aggregation site lists the project as an Indiegogo campaign with US$502,045 raised against an US$821,961 target and an October 11, 2017 end date. That conflicts with the Kickstarter record and may reflect a misclassification or duplicate entry. The Kickstarter-linked records are the stronger source for the campaign’s identity and reported totals.
Does funding prove that Aircon Watch shipped?
No. The surviving evidence confirms that pledges were collected and the campaign reached its funding goal. It does not verify that all 3,251 rewards were manufactured or delivered, or that the project reached dependable mass production.
Kickstarter explicitly warns that backing a project is not the same as buying a finished product and that rewards are not guaranteed. Its explanation is available at Kickstarter’s support page. Contemporary articles discussed intended production and delivery, but those reports do not establish later fulfillment. It is therefore inaccurate to say that the watch successfully shipped to backers, and there is not enough evidence to label the project fraudulent.
Can you buy Aircon Watch now?
No verified current official sales channel was found as of August 18, 2026. There was no confirmed active manufacturer storefront, current official product page, independently documented retail inventory or reliable evidence of broad consumer availability.

A Japanese gadget listing shows a reference price of ¥20,890, but says the sales period was undetermined and offers notification registration rather than confirmed stock. That page, at Rakunew, is not evidence of an available product, warranty or dependable seller.
- An old crowdfunding page is not a retail listing.
- A price displayed by a reseller does not prove inventory.
- Product images do not prove that production units exist.
- Successful funding does not prove delivery or ongoing support.
What the evidence says about whole-body cooling
Hands and wrists can exchange heat with the environment, and local warming or cooling can affect how a person feels. That does not automatically validate Aircon Watch’s particular hardware, pulse pattern, battery performance or claimed whole-body effect.
The available sources do not provide peer-reviewed clinical testing of Aircon Watch. They do not establish that it lowered core body temperature, “regulated” temperature, replaced air conditioning or safely treated hot flashes. Claims about tricking the hypothalamus or changing nervous-system signals should be understood as company explanations, not independently demonstrated outcomes.
A wrist device also has limited contact area and limited thermal-transfer capacity. Feeling cooler can coexist with continued dangerous heat gain, especially in high humidity, direct sun, dehydration or strenuous exercise.

Practical limitations and safety
Aircon Watch should not be treated as protective equipment or a medical device. A comfort sensation does not guarantee that the body is shedding heat safely.
- Do not use a thermal-comfort wearable as a substitute for hydration, shade, rest, ventilation or conventional air conditioning.
- In suspected heat illness, stop exertion, move to a cooler place and seek medical help; do not rely on localized wrist cooling.
- Battery life depends on ambient temperature, selected intensity, duty cycle and heat losses.
- Skin-contact temperatures may be uncomfortable or unsuitable for people with sensitive skin, circulation problems, neuropathy or reduced thermal sensation.
- A tight strap can cause pressure or irritation, and the campaign material did not establish medical contraindications or clinical safeguards.
These limitations do not prove that the concept was harmful. They show why the campaign’s comfort claims cannot be expanded into assurances about heat safety or physiological temperature regulation.

Before treating any personal cooling or heating wearable as more than a novelty, check:
