It independently customizes watches supplied by their owners, so the five examples below are bespoke projects—not retail models. The atelier publishes no official ranking; these standouts are selected for their contrasting base watches, materials and technical changes.
What is an Artisans de Genève watch?
It is an existing watch transformed through a commissioned customization, rather than a watch manufactured and sold under the Artisans de Genève name. The project names below refer to individual commissions. For example, “Val Viola” is based on an owner’s Rolex Submariner 116610; it is not a separate Rolex or Artisans de Genève model. The atelier describes its work as independent customization intended for the owner’s personal and private use. This selection is not an objective “best” ranking. It brings together five documented commissions with different design choices and levels of movement or case work.

Val Viola: Submariner with a moonphase
Val Viola starts with the steel Rolex Submariner 116610 and adds a feature not typically associated with the model: a moonphase indicator. The atelier describes the movement as based on Rolex caliber 3135 and the dial as hand-guilloché, then treated in turquoise and violet. The result combines the Submariner’s familiar tool-watch base with a colorful dial and a more elaborate complication. The project page lists an estimated service price of CHF 34,520 excluding VAT; this is a page-specific estimate, not a general customization quote or a current guaranteed price. Autumn Leaves: layered color on an Aquanaut
Autumn Leaves is based on the Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5164. Its anthracite movement is skeletonized and fitted with rose-gold wheels. The dial pairs a custom brown base with a transparent sapphire upper plate, giving the layered construction a prominent role in the design. KRAFT Signature: a titanium Daytona
For KRAFT Signature, the starting point is a Rolex Daytona 116520. The listed work includes an off-white dial base with a rusty-colored plate, Grade 5 titanium components and a riveted titanium bracelet. The project page identifies Alexander Kraft as the client. Unlike the skeletonized projects in this selection, the most immediately distinctive choices here are the warm dial tones and the bracelet material and construction. The Story of 66g: weight reduction and an open movement
The Story of 66g begins with a Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167. Its project description emphasizes weight reduction through a refined Grade 5 titanium case treated with Titalyt, alongside a custom skeletonized dial. The movement is skeletonized and finished in anthracite, with yellow-gold wheels; a yellow natural-rubber RubberB strap supplies a vivid contrast. The name highlights the project’s focus on a lighter build, but the listed description does not provide a comparative weight figure, so it should not be read as a published before-and-after measurement. Spider: a Daytona with a turquoise web
Spider transforms a Rolex Daytona 116520 with a skeletonized Caliber 4130 and an anthracite finish. Its dial combines a sapphire base with a Spiderweb Turquoise supplementary plate, and the case is refined steel. The atelier specifies that the turquoise plate is 0.5 millimetres thick. Its project page quotes Seraina W., identified by the company as a GIA gemologist at the atelier, describing the selection of dozens of turquoise pieces to create the desired veining effect. How commissioning a project works
The atelier describes an owner-led process involving advising, technical drawings, gouache design, prototyping, workshop work and quality control. Its services page gives two different measures of the work: it says a project takes 36 weeks, and separately describes an 11-step journey taking nearly 10 months. These are the company’s own published descriptions, with no publication year stated on the page; they should not be treated as interchangeable timing guarantees. The same page cites 26 artisans, 250 components reworked and decorated, and 2,000 hours of craftsmanship, also without stating a publication year. Read the atelier’s services description.

According to the atelier’s FAQ, a prospective client’s watch must be authentic, accompanied by documents, less than five years old when submitted for a request, and never polished. The company also warns that original manufacturers may not approve third-party modifications. Owners should ask the relevant manufacturer and the atelier about the consequences for their specific watch and warranty; there is no basis here to assume that a customized watch retains its original maker’s warranty. Artisans de Genève says customized watches are delivered with a TIMELAB Laboratory Report and a seven-year international warranty. The atelier describes an independent TIMELAB assessment and its own warranty; these are not presented as a warranty issued by Rolex or Patek Philippe. Confirm the current terms directly with the atelier before commissioning. The atelier’s homepage and services page describe these provisions.
