Casio’s October 1, 2026 Blue Rose announcement covers three watches, not two: the MRG-D5000 has a full blue-sapphire bezel, while the square MRG-B5000SA-2 and GMW-B5000SB-1A2 have blue sapphires set into their bezels. The two gem-set squares are the models most closely described by the original headline. Their editions, construction and reported UK prices differ substantially.
Why the announcement covers three watches
Casio’s October 1, 2026 announcement introduces the MRG-D5000 alongside two additional sapphire models. The distinction matters: the MRG-D5000’s bezel is rendered entirely in blue sapphire crystal, while the MRG-B5000SA-2 and GMW-B5000SB-1A2 each have individual blue sapphires set into a square bezel.

What the sapphire-set square models offer
MRG-B5000SA-2: two prominent stones in an MR-G
The MRG-B5000SA-2 marks MR-G’s 30th anniversary. Its two 2-carat lab-grown blue sapphires are larger individual accents than the four stones on the GMW-B5000SB-1A2. Casio specifies an eight-facet cut for each gem, a COBARION top bezel, Ti64 titanium exterior parts and a refined Multi-Guard Structure. The company says the edition is limited to 500 worldwide. Casio also says lab-grown stones allow a level of quality control that is difficult to achieve with natural gemstones; that is the manufacturer’s description, not an independent gem-quality assessment.

GMW-B5000SB-1A2: four bezel-dimple stones on a full-metal square
The GMW-B5000SB-1A2 places four lab-grown blue sapphires in the bezel dimples, paired with a black ion-plated bezel, inverted LCD and black urethane band. Casio describes mounting bases and rubber buffers beneath the stones as part of an updated full-metal shock-resistant structure. The cited announcement and product information do not specify a limited-edition quantity.

If “two square G-SHOCKs with lab-grown blue sapphires” means watches with stones set into the bezel, it refers to the MRG-B5000SA-2 and GMW-B5000SB-1A2. The MRG-D5000 is part of the same announcement, but its defining feature is a bezel made entirely from blue sapphire crystal. For a practical comparison, consider where and how many stones each watch uses, its case materials and construction, the stated edition size, and pricing and stock in your own market.
