Monochrome Watches reported a price of CHF 790 on 15 June 2021; that is a historical price, not a verified current quote.
What the 2021 hands-on reviewed
Rebecca Doulton’s Monochrome Watches article, published 15 June 2021, examined the blue-dial reference C029.807.11.041.02. Doulton framed it as a “solid yet stylish 3-hand daily beater,” but the useful distinction is the exact configuration: this is not a generic specification sheet for every DS-1 Powermatic 80.

The Monochrome technical table lists a jewel count, but a comment on the same article disputes it. Without independent confirmation, the count is best left unspecified.
How the design and package come together
Blue dial and warm-toned details
The dark-blue sunray surface gives the dial its changing light, while the applied, faceted rose-gold-coloured markers and hands provide contrast. The layout stays conventional and legible in concept: central hours, minutes and seconds, with a date window at 3 o’clock.

Two wearing options
The watch was presented with a five-link steel bracelet and an additional blue fabric strap made from recycled ocean plastic. A quick-change system makes switching between the supplied options easier than a conventional strap change, though the review does not quantify the time or describe a tool requirement. The bracelet closes with a butterfly clasp; the fabric strap uses a pin buckle.
Movement, dimensions and everyday use
The reviewed watch uses the ETA Powermatic 80.611 automatic calibre with a Nivachron balance spring and an 80-hour power reserve. The reserve is a stated movement specification, not a guarantee of accuracy or a measurement of how the watch will perform under every wearing pattern.

At 40 mm across and 10.98 mm high, the case has a moderate stated diameter and a relatively slim stated height for an automatic watch with a date and 100 m water resistance. These are the dimensions reported for the blue reference in the 2021 hands-on; the article does not state its lug-to-lug length or lug spacing. The 100 m rating is a specification, not a substitute for observing the watch’s operating and maintenance guidance.
Price and availability: what is actually dated
Monochrome Watches gave CHF 790 for reference C029.807.11.041.02 in its article dated 15 June 2021. That figure records the price at the time of publication; it does not establish today’s price, stock, or sales channels. Doulton also described Swiss-boutique reservation and direct online purchase through Certina’s Swiss website at that time, and noted the reference was unavailable when she last checked. Those are historical availability observations, not a current stock check. No current price or availability is established here.

Do not confuse it with other DS-1 variants
The DS-1 name covers distinct references. Certina’s official product sheet for grey reference C029.807.16.081.01 lists a Powermatic 80.111 calibre, not the blue review reference’s Powermatic 80.611. It also supplies dimensions for that grey model: 40 mm width, 10.98 mm height, 20 mm between lugs and 47.75 mm lug-to-lug. Those last two dimensions must not be transferred to the blue reference.
Certina’s 9 April 2025 announcement concerns another model, the DS-1 Big Date: it has a 41 mm steel case, a Big Date display, and the Powermatic 80.651 with Nivachron balance spring. It is not an update to, or a specification source for, the reviewed 2021 blue watch.
