The pair most clearly documented as purchasable during CES coverage was the XREAL 1S, reported at $449, but that was a January 2026 availability claim—not proof of U.S. stock on August 16–18, 2026.
The original ZDNET article was published January 10, 2026. Its accessible syndicated copy does not expose the complete seven-item list, so the roundup below identifies seven products documented in the CES 2026 coverage and labels what was actually a product, preorder, demonstration or reference platform.
First, what kind of smart glasses are you comparing?
AI glasses
These combine cameras, microphones, speakers and a voice assistant. They can handle calls, photos and contextual questions, but usually have no in-lens display.
Display glasses
These create a private virtual screen for a phone, laptop, handheld console or video hub. They are wearable monitors, not standalone computers, and commonly require USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode.

Optical AR glasses
Waveguides or related optics place imagery over the real world. Field of view, brightness, transparency, text legibility and outdoor contrast are the key constraints.
Prototypes and reference designs
These demonstrate future hardware or enterprise components. Without a retail price, operating system, support path and shipping date, they should not be treated as orderable consumer products.

What was actually buyable?
XREAL 1S is the clearest documented example. CES-era coverage reported a $449 price and availability, while a separate report listed the $99 XREAL Neo hub. Those statements describe the situation around January 2026; they do not establish stock, price or warranty coverage in the United States on August 16–18, 2026. Check the manufacturer’s current listing at XREAL before ordering.

VITURE Beast and RayNeo Air 3s Pro had published prices in later comparative coverage, but pricing evidence is not the same as confirmed August inventory. RayNeo Air 4 Pro, RayNeo X3 Pro Project eSIM, Loomos and Vuzix Ultralite Pro lacked a confirmed consumer purchase path in the cited material.
Compatibility can decide the purchase
- USB-C video: a charging-capable USB-C port may still lack DisplayPort Alt Mode. Confirm support on the exact phone, laptop or handheld.
- Adapters and hubs: iPhones may need an adapter or video hub; consoles often need a powered accessory such as XREAL Neo.
- Power: display glasses draw power from the host or an accessory battery. AI glasses commonly last roughly four to six hours per charge as a broad industry observation, not a universal specification.
- Independence: “AI-powered” does not mean the glasses have their own display, cellular connection or offline assistant.
- Prescriptions: check whether prescription inserts are supported, their regional availability and added cost.
Practical trade-offs reviewers found
Comfort and heat
In the cited comparison, XREAL 1S was lighter than VITURE Beast but produced noticeable forehead heat from onboard processing. Weight alone does not predict long-session comfort.
Rank #3

While the all-in-one button enables seamless control of power/flashlight/answering/hanging up/playing/pausing and wake-up the voice assistant —all with intuitive presses.
Brightness and field of view
Higher claimed brightness does not guarantee readable outdoor imagery. Dimming can improve ambient-light control while changing the look of the image. A 58-degree opaque display field of view, such as VITURE’s claim, is not directly comparable with the transparent field of view of an optical-AR prototype.
Feature maturity
VITURE Beast’s later review noted that some promised capabilities depended on future firmware. Treat shipping features and planned features as separate buying facts.
Privacy
For camera glasses, investigate recording indicators, cloud processing, account requirements, retention and deletion controls, offline operation and rules in workplaces, schools, museums and secure facilities. Audio can leak even when the image is private.

Which type should you choose?
For films, productivity and gaming
Choose a display model with confirmed DisplayPort compatibility, stable 3DoF tracking, suitable brightness, comfortable fit and a clear return policy. XREAL 1S was described as stable and usable out of the box, though relatively dimmer and warmer than some competitors.
For maximum immersion
Prioritize field of view, brightness, head tracking and lens dimming. VITURE Beast has the strongest stated figures among the priced products documented here, but its value depends on which firmware features are already delivered.
For everyday AI assistance
Prioritize battery endurance, camera and microphone quality, voice reliability, speaker leakage, phone integration and privacy controls. Loomos’s swappable-battery design addresses endurance, but its retail availability remains unconfirmed.

For real optical AR
Look for daylight legibility, text clarity, occlusion, prescription support, developer tools and actual navigation or translation software. Vuzix and Lumus demonstrations show the direction of the technology, not products you can automatically buy.
Buying checklist
- Confirm that your phone, laptop or handheld outputs DisplayPort over USB-C.
- Check whether a hub, adapter, cable or separate battery is required.
- Verify prescription-lens support and the total delivered cost.
- Separate current firmware features from promises or road-map items.
- Check regional stock, warranty, returns and official support.
- For camera glasses, review privacy controls and local rules before wearing them in public or at work.
Bottom line
CES 2026’s most useful glasses solved one job rather than replacing a phone. XREAL 1S was the clearest buyable display option in the January coverage; VITURE Beast targeted immersion at a higher price; RayNeo Air 3s Pro offered a cheaper screen; and Loomos, RayNeo’s concepts, Vuzix and other optical-AR demonstrations showed where the category may go next. Because availability changes, treat “buy now” as a dated CES claim and verify the current manufacturer listing before paying.
