The Alliance 02 is a 100-piece mechanical pocket watch created by Christopher Ward and Studio Underd0g—the brands’ first collaboration. Its defining feature is a layered, luminous dial built around Studio Underd0g’s 02SERIES design language. The launch announcement listed a hand-wound CW-001 movement with a 120-hour power reserve and said all project profits would go to the Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers. What is the Christopher Ward and Studio Underd0g Alliance 02?
It is a pocket watch, not a wristwatch. The Alliance 02 was announced as the first collaboration between British watchmakers Christopher Ward and Studio Underd0g. The unusual format was central to the idea: Christopher Ward CEO and co-founder Mike France said the team accepted the proposal despite it not being the “sensible” choice, describing the project as an effort to push boundaries and celebrate creativity.
The announcement described a run of 100 individually numbered pieces. Its profits were designated for the Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers, which supports networking, the British watch- and clockmaking ecosystem, and international promotion of the sector.
How is the Alliance 02 designed?
A layered, luminous dial
The dial adapts the sandwich-construction idea used in Studio Underd0g’s 02SERIES. A brass base dial carries seven layers of custom-made Super-LumiNova pigment. Above it, a 1.4mm sapphire disc bears the minute track and Roman numerals. The announcement says the markings appear to float in daylight, while the dial beneath them lights from below in darkness. It does not specify a lume grade or quantified brightness or duration.

Case, accessories and format
The steel case measures 44mm in diameter and uses Christopher Ward’s Light-catcher design. Each watch was supplied with a bamboo display stand and a braided leather strap, offered as a contemporary alternative to a traditional pocket-watch chain.
What movement is in the Alliance 02?
The announcement identifies the hand-wound movement as Christopher Ward’s CW-001, formerly known as SH21. It describes the calibre as chronometer-grade and gives it a 120-hour power reserve. The announcement does not provide further movement specifications here, so details such as accuracy tolerances should not be inferred from those descriptions.

How much did the Alliance 02 cost?
The January 2026 launch announcement listed prices of £2,995, $4,150 and €3,895. These are the announced launch prices, not a current offer or an indication of resale value.
Is the Alliance 02 still available?
Studio Underd0g’s homepage listed the Alliance 02 as “Sold out” when checked on October 4, 2026. That is the status shown on the brand’s site at that time; it does not establish whether a particular secondary-market listing exists. The launch announcement does not provide a current resale price or confirm authorized resale availability.

How did launch access and the donation work?
At launch, access was exclusive to members of the Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers who pre-registered. A Christopher Ward promotional email archived by Milled described joining the Alliance and then registering interest on Christopher Ward’s website. Those were launch terms, not a way to buy the sold-out edition now.
The brands said all profits from the project would go to the Alliance. The Alliance’s co-founder and CEO, Alistair Audsley, said the funds would directly support its work promoting and strengthening the British watch and clockmaking sector at home and abroad. The announcement does not give an independently audited sales figure or a separate donation amount.
