Swatch introduced its 2023 Art Journey watches in Lisbon with an immersive, multisensory event built around themed rooms that brought the featured artworks to life. What is the 2023 Swatch Art Journey collection?
Swatch presented the 2023 Art Journey as five capsule collections, rolling out from mid-March through May and recreating ten masterpieces as watches. Its March 10, 2023 announcement named collaborations with MoMA, René Magritte, Le Gallerie degli Uffizi and Louvre Abu Dhabi, along with a forthcoming street-art installment. Roy Lichtenstein: two MoMA designs
The Swatch x MoMA capsule marked the 100th anniversary of Roy Lichtenstein’s birth with “Girl by Roy Lichtenstein, The Watch,” based on Girl (1963), and “Reverie by Roy Lichtenstein, The Watch,” based on Reverie (1965). Swatch highlighted the comic-book style and Benday dots associated with Lichtenstein’s work. René Magritte: surrealist imagery and wordplay

Katsushika Hokusai: a wave and an astrolabe
The Swatch x Louvre Abu Dhabi watch paired Hokusai’s Under the Wave off Kanagawa with imagery drawn from an astrolabe artifact. Swatch described a Prussian-blue palette, with the wave on the dial and front strap and astrolabe details on the underside. Swatch’s 2023 announcement
How does the Lisbon launch fit Swatch’s art-watch history?
Swatch says its relationship between art and watches began with its Art Special watches in 1985. The company’s cited museum collaborations include the Rijksmuseum and Thyssen-Bornemisza in 2018, the Musée du Louvre in 2019, MoMA in 2021 and Centre Pompidou in 2022. Where could buyers get the watches at launch?
The lookbook’s availability information is historical, not a guarantee of current stock. For the two Swatch x MoMA designs, it gave March 16, 2023 as the availability date and listed Swatch stores, Swatch.com, MoMA Design Stores and store.moma.org as launch-era channels. Swatch’s 2023 lookbook
That date and retailer list apply to those two MoMA models, not necessarily every capsule in the five-part collection. To check whether a particular 2023 design can still be purchased, verify its exact model name and availability with Swatch or the relevant retailer; the launch materials do not establish current stock.

Is this the same collection as Swatch x Guggenheim?
No. The Lisbon launch refers to the 2023 Art Journey collection. Swatch announced a later Swatch x Guggenheim chapter in January 2026, featuring works by Edgar Degas, Paul Klee, Claude Monet and Jackson Pollock.
