Time+Tide’s 22 April 2025 report describes it as the first Australian location where the brand’s watches could be seen “in the metal.” The studio’s current Christopher Ward collection remains the practical starting point, but availability and prices should be confirmed before travelling.
What changed for Christopher Ward in Australia?
Christopher Ward has traditionally operated with a strong direct-to-customer and microbrand identity. The Melbourne arrangement gives Australian buyers a physical place to handle the watches, compare case sizes and dial finishes, and complete an in-person purchase.
A January 2025 Time+Tide event report said Christopher Ward co-founder and CEO Mike France appeared at the Melbourne studio with a selection of watches. The event discussion described Australia as one of the brand’s top five global markets, without supplying a percentage or a precise ranking.

Which model should you choose?
Choose the C1 Bel Canto for maximum mechanical drama
The Bel Canto is the outlier in both price and mechanism. Its sonnerie au passage chimes the hour automatically, while the dial leaves the gear train and gong visible. It is the strongest choice if the reason for visiting the studio is to experience an unusual complication rather than to find a discreet daily wearer.
Rank #2
- Case size: 40.50 mm: Band Width: 20.00 mm: Case Thickness: 14.10 mm
- Automatic , Powermatic 80, Nivachron, Date
- Band Type: Steel: Band Length: 179.64 mm
- Water-resistant up to 300 m / 990 ft: suitable for diving and/or snorkeling.
- 2 Year International Warranty
Choose the C1 Moonphase for dial spectacle without a chiming mechanism
The Moonphase focuses attention on its luminous, photorealistic moon and layered aventurine-glass sky. The reported 128-year accuracy interval is a technical feature of the moonphase display; it does not mean the watch can be left unserviced for 128 years.
Choose the C65 Dune for a compact, patina-driven daily watch
At 38mm and 11.7mm thick, the Dune is the smaller of the two practical sports-oriented options listed here. Its bronze case will change appearance with wear, so it suits buyers who want a watch that develops a personal surface character rather than remaining visually unchanged.
Rank #3
- Swiss Made Automatic Watch
- Movement: Automatic Movement Mido Caliber 72 - With 72 hours of power reserve and nivachron balance spring
- Case Type: 316L Stainless steel diver style with screw-down crown and unidirectional rotating bezel
- Case Size: 39mm - Band Width: 20mm - Case Thickness: 10.5mm - Sapphire crystal with double sided anti-reflection treatment
- Band: Satin-finished stainless steel bracelet and folding clasp with diver’s extension, with polished centre link bevels, MIDO quick-change system.
Choose the C60 Trident GMT for travel and maximum water resistance
The Trident GMT is the more utility-focused option. Its 300m rating exceeds the Dune’s 150m rating, and its GMT hand is intended for tracking a second time zone. The 40mm case gives it a larger wrist presence while retaining the same reported 11.7mm thickness as the Dune.
Bel Canto versus Moonphase
Both C1 models are bought primarily for visual and mechanical interest, but they deliver it differently.
Rank #4
- AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT: Swiss H-10 movement with 80-hour reserve ensures consistent performance. Experience precision that matches both daily tasks and adventures, a testament to Swiss craftsmanship in automatic timekeeping.

- PREMIUM MATERIALS: Leather strap with pin buckle offers day-long comfort. The clean lines and sophisticated design make it the perfect accessory for both casual wear and formal attire, merging functionality with fashion.
- RICH HERITAGE: Over a century of Hamilton's legacy in field watches, admired for precision. Originally designed for WWI soldiers, these timepieces combine rugged durability with history, showcasing Hamilton's commitment to quality and innovation.
- Complication: the Bel Canto adds an audible hourly chime; the Moonphase adds a long-interval astronomical display.
- Dial architecture: the Bel Canto exposes a gear train and gong, while the Moonphase layers the moon and aventurine sky into a more conventional dial layout.
- Buying decision: select the Bel Canto if sound and kinetic mechanics matter most; select the Moonphase if the priority is a luminous night-sky display and a lower entry price within the C1 line.
Dune versus Trident GMT
The C65 Dune and C60 Trident GMT are the practical comparison.
| Consideration | C65 Dune Aeolian Bronze | C60 Trident GMT 300 |
|---|---|---|
| Case diameter | 38mm | 40mm |
| Thickness | 11.7mm | 11.7mm |
| Water resistance | 150m | 300m |
| Movement | Sellita SW200-1 | Sellita SW330-2 |
| Special feature | Bronze case with developing patina | GMT hand and bi-colour ceramic bezel |
| Certification stated in the article | COSC | Not stated |
The Dune is the better fit for a compact, visually evolving watch. The Trident GMT is the stronger functional choice for travel, swimming and buyers who prefer a modern steel sports-watch format.
