How WatchRanker is paid for

WatchRanker is a Yorker Media site. Reading it is free; three things pay for it.

Advertising

Pages carry advertising from ad networks, which choose the ads they show.

Affiliate links

Some links in The Movement, WatchRanker's blog, are affiliate links: when a reader buys through one, the shop pays us a commission, at no cost to the reader. A link from a list to a maker's own site may also be one.

What makers buy

Makers can buy a listing on WatchRanker's lists, one of the numbered places #1 to #5 on a list, a place beside another entry, a list's sponsorship, or Page Protection for their own page. A bought numbered place stands at the number bought. Getting listed is paid; claiming a page that already exists, to correct a fact, is free.
