Their normal-looking, camera-free frames put teleprompts, translations, navigation cues and short notifications in your view without speakers or a conspicuous camera. But the “disappearing” technology still relies on a phone, Bluetooth, internet access, cloud services and occasionally temperamental software. They are exceptional for presenters, travelers and visual-prompt users—not a replacement for a phone or a general-purpose computer.
What the Even Realities G2 are
The G2 are prescription-capable display glasses designed to resemble conventional eyewear rather than a camera, headset or pair of earbuds. Even offers two shapes: the rounded/panto G2 A and more rectangular G2 B, with colorways reported in gray, brown and green. The magnesium-alloy frame and titanium temples weigh roughly 35–36 grams (about 1.26 ounces), depending on configuration.
There is deliberately no camera, no speaker and no audio playback. Microphones capture voice for features such as translation and conversation assistance, while touch controls on the temples operate the glasses. An optional Even R1 ring adds discreet scrolling and selection.
Current review coverage places the G2 at about $599 and the R1 at about $249; prescription lenses cost extra and regional pricing can differ. Check the Even storefront for live availability.

Does the technology really disappear?
What becomes less visible
- Hardware: The frames look much closer to ordinary prescription glasses than camera-equipped rivals.
- Social friction: Removing the camera and speakers reduces concerns about recording or audible assistants in workplaces and public spaces.
- Phone checking: Short prompts, directions, translations and notifications appear in the wearer’s view.
- Attention switching: A teleprompter or translation line can support a conversation without repeatedly looking down.
What does not disappear
Even’s support documentation says current functions require the Even Realities phone app, a Bluetooth connection and internet access; the G2 is not an offline, self-contained computer. Cloud processing may be involved in translation and AI functions. You still need to charge the glasses, carry a phone and occasionally fix pairing or software problems. The display is private in normal use, but close observers may notice faint display areas.
That distinction is central: the G2 make technology visually and socially quieter, not independent of technology infrastructure.
The display and optical design
Even lists binocular green monochrome micro-LED displays using waveguide optics, 640 × 350 resolution, a 27.5-degree field of view, 60Hz refresh, 1,200-nit brightness, 98% passthrough, anti-reflective and anti-fingerprint coatings, UV protection and clear-lens options. The company and reviewers describe the display as about 75% larger than the G1’s; TechCrunch reports the refresh rate rising from 20Hz to 60Hz and brightness from 1,000 to 1,200 nits.
Green text is less cinematic than full-color augmented reality, but that restraint is useful for prompts and glanceable information. It keeps the interface legible without turning the glasses into an immersive screen. Prescription support is advertised from approximately –12.00 to +12.00 diopters, yet comfort and alignment depend on pupillary distance, lens type, prescription strength, nose-pad adjustment and face shape. Progressive-lens wearers should confirm fit before ordering.

- 【AI Real-Time Translation】The INMO GO3 smart glasses is equipped with a powerful AI translation engine that supports real-time translation for two-way conversations. Text display instantly in your eyes, and with rapid response times and ultra-low latency, freeing you from phone so you can focus on natural conversation
- 【98 Languages Covered】Beyond common languages such as English, Spanish, French, and German, these translation glasses also support real-time translation for a wider range of languages, including Kinyarwanda, Tongan, and Icelandic—for a total of 98 languages
- 【Invisible Teleprompter Glasses】Utilizing IMAR optical technology, the downward angle of the waveguide and the forward angle of the frame have been adjusted so that others cannot see the screen content whether you are looking straight ahead, down, or to the side. Perfect for speeches and presentations
- 【Navigation & Hearing Assistance】With built-in HERE Maps, you don’t have to keep looking down at your phone—the navigation arrows are right in front of you through the AR glasses. Plus, the real-time captioning feature provides truly convenient communication assistance for the hearing impaired
- 【8MP HD】The inmo GO3 glasses are equipped with an 8MP HD camera that allows you to take POV videos and images. You can also use the camera for photo translation—simply snap a photo of a menu, street sign, or document, and get an instant translation.
Teleprompting is the clearest reason to buy
For presenters, teachers, salespeople and speakers, Teleprompt can turn the G2 from an interesting display into a practical tool. You can type or import a script through the app. Supported imports include PDF, Word and TXT files, with a 255KB file-size limit; simple, primarily text-based PDFs are the safest choice.
- AI-powered pace: The text follows your speech and can pause when you pause.
- Consistent speed: The script scrolls at a fixed rate.
- Manual mode: Temple controls or the R1 ring advance the text yourself.
Reviewers found the speech-following mode particularly effective in presentations. In noisy rooms or when voice tracking falters, fixed-speed or manual mode is the dependable fallback. Simplifying a complex PDF, adjusting font size and display height, and rehearsing with the actual glasses matter more than the marketing suggests; a prompt can still tempt you to read mechanically.
The feature demonstrates the strongest version of Even’s “disappearing” idea: the support is available in the moment without making the audience watch you consult a device.
Translation without pulling out your phone
Translation sends captured speech over Bluetooth to the phone and then through cloud processing before displaying translated text in the lenses. Even’s pages currently use both “33” and “35” language claims, while older coverage cites 29. Treat support as roughly 33–35 languages, varying by current language list and regional software version rather than as a fixed universal number.

- 【Photochromic Lenses, Suitable for Any Scenes】Designed for all-day comfortable wear, AI glasses feature an ultra-lightweight frame and integrated photochromic lenses. The lenses automatically darken in sunlight for UV protection and return to a clear state indoors. A built-in 290mAh battery delivers long-lasting power for full-day use, fitting perfectly with all scenes of daily life, work and outdoor adventures.
Even’s translation page marks Arabic, Bengali and Hindi with a one-way limitation: they can be translated from, but are not displayed as output languages. Translation is therefore not automatically two-way conversation support. Output quality and delay depend on language pair, accent, microphone distance, background noise, overlapping speakers and network strength. Sharing the phone can let both participants inspect translated text.
For travel and routine conversations, visual translation can be less intrusive than holding a phone between two people. It is not a substitute for a human interpreter in medical, legal or safety-critical situations.
Conversate, AI prompts, navigation and notifications
Conversate and Even AI
Even describes Conversate as listening to conversations, transcribing them and producing an AI summary in the app. The wider system can provide contextual cues, reminders, translations, smart notifications and short answers through the “Hey Even” trigger. These features may help identify a name, prepare a follow-up question or create meeting notes, but summaries can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Contextual prompts are not authoritative fact-checking.
Microphones are active when these functions are enabled. Even says data is encrypted and not stored in the cloud without explicit consent; that is a company privacy claim, not an independent audit. Tell participants when transcription, translation or recording-like processing is active, and check workplace, school, clinical, courtroom and government rules.

Navigation
Navigation uses Google Maps data, with turn-by-turn cues and a geomagnetic sensor intended to improve orientation as you turn your head. It is most useful for walking, cycling and unfamiliar places. Treat it as a glanceable aid, not a safety-certified driving display or replacement for a full map.
Notifications
Phone notifications can appear when the relevant app is enabled in the Even app and already posts notifications to the phone’s notification bar. Even estimates about 50 letters per line, three lines and roughly 30 words in English. That is enough for a headline or reminder, not full email management.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the R1 ring changes
The optional R1 ring lets you scroll, tap and navigate without touching the temple or reaching for the phone. That matters when you are presenting or using a longer prompt: the interaction becomes less visible and less likely to disturb your posture. The trade-off is another device to charge and maintain, plus roughly $249 based on WIRED’s cited price.
The ring also tracks heart rate, steps and sleep, but WIRED found its presentation and accuracy less convincing than dedicated devices such as Garmin or Whoop. Buy it primarily as a controller, not as a medical or high-end fitness tracker.

Battery, durability and ownership limits
Even’s current product page claims up to two days of battery life and a full charge in about 1–1.5 hours; the case provides up to seven full charges. These are manufacturer figures, and TechCrunch did not independently verify the full two-day claim. Heavy translation, navigation, AI or continuous display use can reduce runtime.
The current regional product page lists IP65: suitable for rain and accidental splashes, not submersion. An Android Central page reproduced an IP67 claim, so do not treat the G2 as swim-proof or immersion-safe until Even publishes a definitive global specification.
Where the seamless experience breaks
Bluetooth and app reconnection
WIRED and Tom’s Guide report occasional connection or software problems. Before relying on the glasses for a presentation:
- Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and the glasses are charged.
- Open or restart the Even Realities app.
- Reconnect the glasses inside the app.
- Install pending app or firmware updates.
- If used, reconnect the R1 separately.
- Test the exact feature again before going live.
Translation and teleprompt failure
- Weak internet, low phone battery or low glasses battery can interrupt translation.
- Noise, distance and multiple speakers reduce microphone accuracy.
- Unsupported output languages and one-way language pairs limit conversations.
- For prompting, switch from AI pace to fixed speed or manual scrolling; simplify complex PDFs and use the R1 as a control fallback.
Privacy is more than the absence of a camera
No camera removes one major concern, but microphones, transcription, cloud translation and AI summaries can still involve sensitive conversation data. “Camera-free” is a narrower and more accurate description than “private.”

| Product approach | Primary strength | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Even Realities G2 | Binocular visual prompts, translation and teleprompting in conventional-looking frames | No camera, speakers or offline operation; phone and internet required |
| Ray-Ban Meta | Camera capture, speakers and a mature audio-oriented consumer experience | Not centered on a private binocular display |
| Meta Ray-Ban Display | More direct display competitor | Tom’s Guide describes a display in one lens, unlike the G2’s binocular design |
| Xreal and RayNeo | More immersive, full-color augmented-reality visuals | Generally less like ordinary prescription eyewear |
| Halliday | Productivity and meeting prompts | Availability and final feature set require separate verification |
Who should buy the G2?
- Presenters, teachers, broadcasters and sales professionals who use prompts regularly.
- Multilingual travelers who benefit from visual translation.
- Prescription-wearers who want a camera-free, socially unobtrusive design.
- Walkers, cyclists and professionals who want short navigation or reminder cues.
- Users willing to maintain a phone-connected platform that is still evolving.
Who should skip or postpone them?
- Anyone wanting standalone glasses that work without a phone or internet.
- Buyers expecting music, calls or spoken AI responses.
- People seeking a camera for first-person capture.
- Those needing full-color AR, a large field of view or reliable heavy AI use.
- Anyone requiring medical-grade health tracking or disliking cloud-dependent services.
- People without a recurring need for presenting, translating, navigating or reading glanceable prompts.
Final verdict
The Even Realities G2 make technology disappear in the most convincing way available today: not by hiding a complete computer in your face, but by making a small amount of useful information appear exactly when it helps. Teleprompting is genuinely compelling, translation and navigation can reduce phone checking, and the camera-free design is easier to wear around other people.
They do not make the system disappear. Your phone, Bluetooth link, internet connection, charging routine, cloud processing and occasional reconnection problems remain part of ownership. At about $599 before prescription lenses—and roughly $848 with the R1—the G2 are worth it when their best features are part of your real week. For everyone else, they are an elegant glimpse of a quieter future rather than an essential everyday computer.
