The Oura Ring 5 is no longer a future product. Oura announced it and opened preorders on May 28, 2026, began shipping on June 4, and started sales in Japan on June 5. The earlier report that predicted a late-2027 launch was wrong, although its broader design direction— a thinner Oura ring and a Deep Rose finish—was broadly accurate.
What the original Oura Ring 5 leak claimed
A March 24, 2026 report from Tech Advisor described purported renders and unconfirmed specifications. It said the ring would keep Oura’s familiar circular form, perhaps look slightly rounder, use a revised sensor layout, add a Deep Rose color, and launch in late 2027 before the holiday season. It also suggested existing charging accessories might remain compatible.
Those details were reporting, not Oura specifications. The final product arrived much earlier, and its charging system is not interchangeable with Ring 4 hardware.
Oura Ring 5 release dates: announcement, preorder and shipping
| Milestone | Date |
|---|---|
| Leak report published | March 24, 2026 |
| Official announcement and preorders | May 28, 2026 |
| First announced shipments | June 4, 2026 |
| Japan sales launch | June 5, 2026 |
Oura’s announcement confirms the dates and corrects the late-2027 prediction. Some styles and sizes may still take up to three weeks to ship, so the advertised release date does not guarantee immediate delivery for every configuration.

Final design: thinner, titanium and six finishes
Oura says Ring 5 has 40% less volume than Ring 4. That is a volume comparison, not a claim that the ring is 40% narrower, lighter or thinner. The official dimensions are 6.09 mm wide, 2.28 mm thick and 0.7 mm for the sensor dome. Oura describes it as the world’s smallest smart ring based on its own comparison of more than 200 major-brand products; that is a company claim rather than an independently defined industry standard.
The exterior and interior are titanium. Every finish uses a super-hard PVD coating intended to improve scratch resistance, while the inner surface is non-allergenic and BPA-free. Ring 5 is available in sizes 6 through 13 and does not come in half sizes.
| Finish | US launch price |
|---|---|
| Black | $399 |
| Silver | $399 |
| Stealth | $499 |
| Brushed Silver | $499 |
| Gold | $499 |
| Deep Rose | $499 |
Deep Rose was one of the leak’s more accurate predictions. The final ring remains screen-free and focused on health and wellness tracking rather than acting as a miniature smartwatch.

Sensors, connectivity and onboard storage
Oura’s specification page lists two photodetectors, two tri-LED sensor groups using red, green and infrared light, a digital temperature sensor and an accelerometer. Connectivity is Bluetooth 5.0, with FCC certification, Airplane Mode and EMF-safe operation.
The redesigned hardware is intended by Oura to improve sensing precision, but that performance claim has not been independently established here. One measurable trade-off is local storage: Ring 5 stores up to three days of data onboard, compared with up to seven days for Ring 4. If the ring cannot sync with the app for an extended period, it has less offline capacity than its predecessor.
Battery life: a six-to-nine-day claim
Oura rates Ring 5 for typically six to nine days per charge. The company says it rebuilt the battery system to preserve roughly week-long use while reducing the ring’s volume. Actual endurance depends on ring size, settings, enabled features, activity, battery age and usage, so “nine days” is not a guaranteed result for every owner.

What Ring 4 owners need to know
Use a Ring 5 sizing kit
Ring 5 sizing is not identical to Ring 4 sizing. Oura recommends the Ring 5 sizing kit even for existing owners because the smaller construction can fit differently at the same nominal size. Standard US ring sizes should not be assumed to match Oura sizes, and skipping the sizing process can affect comfort and sensor contact.
Do not assume your Ring 4 charger works
Oura’s charging documentation lists Ring 5 docks and cases separately: Ring 5 charging hardware is compatible only with Ring 5 models, while Ring 4 chargers are listed for Ring 4. The optional Ring 5 Charging Case holds up to five full charges, is Ring 5-only and requires Oura App version 7.16.0 or later.
Your account and history can carry over
Pairing Ring 5 with the same Oura account carries over existing membership benefits and data. Adding a second ring to an existing account does not create another complimentary month. Make sure the new ring is paired with the intended account before relying on the transfer.

Returning the ring does not cancel membership
If you return the physical ring, cancel membership separately to prevent continued billing. Purchases from authorized retailers generally must be returned or exchanged through that retailer rather than directly through Oura.
Should you upgrade from Ring 4?
Ring 5 is most compelling if a thinner profile, a new finish, fresh hardware or a replacement for a worn battery matters to you. Its full-titanium construction, redesigned sensing system and claimed six-to-nine-day endurance address everyday wear, but the smaller body does not automatically improve every specification: offline storage is lower than Ring 4’s, and your existing charger is not a safe assumption.
The upgrade is less attractive if your Ring 4 remains comfortable and healthy, you are satisfied with its battery, or you object to the ongoing membership. There is no universal upgrade verdict without independent comparative testing; weigh comfort, fit, battery condition, sensor priorities and subscription cost against the price of a new ring.
Buying checklist
- Order or confirm a Ring 5 sizing kit; do not simply repeat your Ring 4 size.
- Choose the exact finish and size, checking the current delivery estimate because some combinations may take up to three weeks.
- Budget for the US membership fee of $5.99 monthly or $69.99 annually.
- Buy from Oura’s official store or an authorized retailer.
- Plan for a Ring 5-specific charger; purchase the optional case only if its travel convenience justifies the extra cost.
- Verify regional pricing, membership availability and feature support before ordering, since terms differ by country.
