The Longines Spirit Zulu Time 1925 (reference L3.803.5.53.6) is a 39 mm automatic GMT released on June 26, 2025, to mark 100 years since Longines made its first dual-time-zone wristwatch. It combines a COSC-certified calibre, 72-hour reserve, ISO 764 magnetic resistance and a rose-gold-capped bezel. Longines’ US price is $4,700.00; prices and availability vary by market.
What the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 commemorates
Longines introduced the watch for the centenary of a 1925 wristwatch capable of displaying two time zones. The brand says the historic watch’s Zulu flag provided the inspiration for the “Zulu Time” name. The 1925 edition therefore links the modern Spirit travel-watch platform to a specific milestone in Longines history rather than simply adding a new dial color.

The commemorative details are deliberately restrained: the dial carries 1925–2025 marking, while the transparent caseback is engraved for the anniversary. The result remains a practical GMT rather than a purely decorative anniversary model.
“For me, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time represents not only precision time keeping, but also connection. In today’s lifestyle, our loved ones and colleagues can often be a world away. However, the Longines Spirit Zulu Time gives me, at a glance, that immediate connection with them, and it does so with the elegance that Longines excels at.”

What is new compared with the regular Spirit Zulu Time?
Rose-gold-capped bezel
The most visible change is the bidirectional bezel. The anniversary model uses a 5N 18K rose-gold cap over its 24-hour insert. The regular 39 mm Spirit Zulu Time uses a ceramic insert, so the 1925 edition has a warmer, more traditional contrast with its steel case.
Anniversary dial and caseback
Its matt-black dial combines rose-gold-plated applied numerals with the 1925–2025 inscription. A transparent caseback exposes the movement and carries anniversary engraving. These markings distinguish the watch from the standard collection without changing the basic travel-watch display.

Two-strap delivery
The package includes both the steel bracelet and a black NATO strap. That gives the owner a more formal bracelet configuration and a lighter fabric option without requiring a separate purchase. The standard model’s supplied-strap configuration can differ by reference and region.
Shared platform, different presentation
The anniversary reference retains the 39 mm case size and the Zulu Time concept. Longines’ launch information identifies the L844.4 movement, COSC certification, 72-hour reserve, ISO 764 resistance and 10-bar water resistance for this reference; equivalent specifications, prices and regional packaging for every regular Zulu Time reference are not established here.

How the GMT works for travel
The central hands show local time, while the additional GMT hand reads against the bidirectional 24-hour bezel. Set the bezel or GMT hand to a second time zone and you can read home time without losing local-time legibility. A date window at 6 o’clock completes the everyday display.
The 39 mm diameter is compact for a mechanical GMT, although the 13.50 mm thickness gives it substantial wrist presence. Sapphire with anti-reflective treatment on both sides is intended to preserve dial clarity, and Super-LumiNova is applied to the indexes and GMT hand for low-light reading.

Movement, certification and durability
Calibre L844.4 is self-winding and runs at 25,200 vibrations per hour. Its stated reserve of up to 72 hours means the watch can be removed for a weekend and still be running when put back on, subject to the actual state of wind and conditions.
COSC certification means the individual movement is tested as an officially certified chronometer. The silicon balance spring supports the stated ISO 764 resistance to magnetic fields, a useful safeguard around common travel and office electronics. The 10-bar rating corresponds to 100 metres of water resistance, but the rating is not a recommendation to operate the crown underwater or to treat the watch as a dedicated dive instrument.

Price and availability
Longines lists the Spirit Zulu Time 1925 at $4,700.00 in the United States. Longines regional pages use different currencies and amounts, so that figure should not be read as a worldwide price. No official statement establishes a global production quantity or guarantees availability in every market during 2026; buyers should check their local Longines retailer or regional site for current stock.
Is it a good travel GMT?
- Strong fit for: travelers who want a COSC-certified mechanical GMT in a relatively compact 39 mm case, a useful 72-hour reserve, anti-magnetic construction and both bracelet and NATO options.
- Design appeal: the rose-gold bezel cap and black dial create a dressier anniversary character than the regular ceramic-bezel presentation, while the markings remain subtle.
- Practical limits: 13.50 mm thickness may feel tall under a tight cuff, and the bidirectional bezel requires deliberate setting because it is not a locking dive bezel.
- Buying consideration: the $4,700 price is US-specific, and production quantity and continuing availability are not officially stated.
For a buyer who values the historical connection and supplied strap flexibility, the 1925 edition adds meaningful differences over the regular Zulu Time rather than merely changing the colorway. Those who prefer a more understated or sport-focused look may favor the standard ceramic-bezel version.
