For most fitness-focused buyers, Fitbit Charge 6 is the best 2024 Fitbit. It is the smallest model here with built-in GPS, ECG support in eligible markets, Google Wallet, Google Maps and exercise heart-rate broadcasting. Choose Inspire 3 for the lightest, least expensive tracker and longest claimed battery life; Versa 4 for a larger watch-style display; Sense 2 for ECG plus continuous stress (cEDA) sensing; and Luxe only when discreet, jewelry-like styling matters more than hardware age.
The lineup mixes products launched in different years: Inspire 3 (2022), Sense 2 and Versa 4 (2022), Charge 6 (2023), and Luxe (2021). They were all relevant buying options during 2024, but they were not all new that year.

Best Fitbit for most people: Charge 6
Charge 6 is the strongest default recommendation if you prefer a band rather than a watch. Its built-in GPS and GLONASS let you record outdoor routes without carrying a phone. It adds ECG-compatible sensors, EDA Scan, blood-oxygen and skin-temperature-variation sensors (subject to market and software limits), NFC with Google Wallet, Google Maps and the ability to broadcast exercise heart rate to compatible gym equipment and apps. Google claims up to seven days of battery life. See the product page and technical specifications.

- 【All-day Activity Tracker】: ENGERWALL IP68 Waterproof fitness tracker can record and track your daily steps, calories burned, exercise distance and time. It can also monitor your Body Temp, Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen and Blood Pressure. IP68 waterproof ensures that you don't need to take it off for daily hand washing and swimming, but don't soak it in water for a long time or wear it for hot baths, saunas.

- 【Heart Rate Monitor and Sleep Tracker】: Smart tracker can detect heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen, and body temperature in daily life. Monitor your sleep and analyze your sleep quality through Fall Sleep, Deep Sleep, Light Sleep, REM Sleep. You can view daily, weekly, and monthly data in the APP "Runmefit" to help you better understand your health status and lead a healthy lifestyle. [IMPORTANT] The blood pressure measurement feature must be downloaded and enabled within the app.
- 【Call and message notifications】: You can receive text messages and SNS notifications (including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram) directly on your wrist. When your phone's Bluetooth is turned on, if you receive a message, the watch will vibrate to remind you and you can view the specific message. This function is very practical whether in work or life.
- 【Working Time】: Smart Fitness Watch is the best partner at work, you can set it on the mobile APP ‘Runmefit’: up to 5 sets of alarms, you don’t have to worry about being late for appointments or forgetting important things. You can set drinking Water Reminders and Sedentary Reminders to establish a healthy way of working.
The trade-off is physical and functional: its screen is much smaller than a watch, and Fitbit’s app ecosystem is limited compared with Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or a Wear OS watch. You get notifications, maps, payments and music controls, not a broad downloadable-app platform or cellular independence. Charge 6 launched in 2023; it was the newest major tracker in the 2024 range, not a 2024 launch.
Best budget and simplest tracker: Inspire 3
Inspire 3 is the practical choice for beginners, sleep-focused users and anyone who values a barely noticeable device. It weighs approximately 17.69 g and claims up to 10 days of battery life. It records heart rate, activity, sleep, blood oxygen, breathing rate, skin-temperature variation, stress-related metrics and menstrual-health information, with feature and regional limitations. Details are on the Inspire 3 page and specification page.
There is no on-device GPS, ECG, Google Wallet or Google Maps. Route recording requires connected GPS from a phone, so Inspire 3 suits walks and workouts where your phone is always with you. Its smaller screen also means less on-wrist information than Versa 4 or Sense 2.

Charge 6 vs. Inspire 3: the decisive question
| Difference | Charge 6 | Inspire 3 |
|---|---|---|
| GPS | Built-in GPS/GLONASS | Connected phone GPS |
| ECG | Yes, eligible markets | No |
| Payments and maps | Google Wallet and Google Maps | Neither |
| Battery claim | Up to 7 days | Up to 10 days |
| Wearability | Wider, approximately 30 g | Slimmer, approximately 17.69 g |
| Best for | Phone-free outdoor workouts and broader features | Low-cost steps, sleep and wellness tracking |
If you exercise without a phone, Charge 6’s GPS is worth the extra cost. If you always carry one and mainly want steps, sleep and heart-rate trends, Inspire 3 supplies the essentials while lasting longer between charges. An independent comparison is available from Tom’s Guide.
Best Fitbit smartwatch for a larger display: Versa 4
Versa 4 has a 1.59-inch square watch case, built-in GPS, a claimed six-plus-day battery, SpO2 and heart-rate sensors, altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient-light sensor and NFC. It supports notifications, Google Maps, Google Wallet, Alexa and Bluetooth calling through a paired phone. Consult the product page and specifications.
Choose it over Charge 6 when readable text, larger workout controls and watch-style interaction matter more than compactness or ECG. Versa 4 lacks Sense 2’s cEDA sensor and ECG, and its software is not equivalent to a full Wear OS smartwatch. It remains phone-dependent for many communications functions and has no cellular version in this lineup.

- Long battery life: Google Fitbit Air’s battery lasts up to a week, and fast charging gets you one day of battery life in just five minutes[6,7]
Versa 4 vs. Sense 2
Both are watch-shaped, GPS-equipped Fitbit devices with multi-day battery claims, notifications, Google Maps and Google Wallet. Sense 2 adds continuous electrodermal activity (cEDA) body-response sensing and ECG-compatible electrical sensors. It also includes SpO2, skin-temperature, heart-rate, altimeter, gyroscope, accelerometer, microphone, speaker and NFC; its specification page rates continuous GPS use at up to five hours. See Sense 2 and Sense 2 specifications.
Pay extra for Sense 2 only if ECG or cEDA is specifically valuable to you. Versa 4 is the more economical large-screen choice. Neither offers the app breadth, cellular independence or communication depth of Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch or current Wear OS models.

Is Fitbit Luxe still worth considering?
Luxe is a slim, color-AMOLED style tracker with connected GPS and common Fitbit activity, heart-rate, sleep, stress and wellness metrics. The comparison chart lists a $129.95 U.S. MSRP reference and up to five days of battery life. It has no built-in GPS or ECG. Its appeal is appearance and discreet wear, not feature-per-dollar value. Inspire 3 is generally the more practical small tracker; Charge 6 is the better technical upgrade. Availability may be limited to remaining or regional inventory, so verify stock rather than assuming it is discontinued.

GPS, battery and form-factor trade-offs
Built-in versus connected GPS
Built-in GPS on Charge 6, Versa 4 and Sense 2 records routes when you leave your phone behind. Inspire 3 and Luxe depend on the phone’s location service. A disabled location permission, broken Bluetooth connection, background battery restriction or phone left behind can stop connected tracking. Terrain, buildings, trees, weather and satellite acquisition can affect any GPS trace; built-in GPS does not make these complete dedicated sports watches.
What the battery claims mean
“Up to” figures are manufacturer estimates, not universal test results. Always-on display, GPS, SpO2 sampling, cEDA, frequent notifications and battery age reduce runtime. Google’s battery guidance explains these factors. A watch may be easier to read but more intrusive overnight; a slim tracker is usually easier to wear continuously.
Water resistance
These devices are water resistant under specified conditions, not waterproof. Protection can decline after impact, damage, repair or aging. Do not use them for diving, high-velocity water or high-temperature water. Charge 6’s 5 ATM rating and Sense 2’s 5 ATM rating should be read in that context.
Best Value
- Inspire 3 is the tracker that helps you find your energy, do what you love and feel your best – all you have to do is wear it;
- Compatible with Apple iOS 16.4 or higher and Android OS 11.0 or higher
- Move more: Stay motivated with a Daily Readiness Score, Active Zone Minutes, all-day activity tracking and 24/7 heart rate, 40+ exercise modes, automatic exercise tracking, and reminders to move
- Stress less: Keep an eye on your well-being with a daily Stress Management Score, mindfulness sessions, relax breathing sessions, irregular heart rhythm notifications, SpO2, menstrual health tracking, resting heart rate, and more[1,2]
- Sleep better: Automatic sleep tracking, a daily detailed Sleep Score, smart wake vibrating alarm, and sleep mode help you improve your sleep quality[3]
Health sensors, ECG and medical limits
Charge 6 and Sense 2 offer ECG in supported countries; Versa 4, Inspire 3 and Luxe do not. The ECG app can assess whether a rhythm appears consistent with atrial fibrillation or normal sinus rhythm, but it cannot detect every heart condition and is not a diagnosis. Availability depends on country, product, software, age and account configuration; see Google’s ECG guidance.
SpO2, skin-temperature variation, stress, sleep and heart-rate readings are wellness information, not a substitute for clinical evaluation. Sensor presence also does not guarantee continuous availability or identical insights in every market.
Does Fitbit require a subscription?
Core activity, heart-rate, sleep tracking and synchronization do not require treating the hardware as a paid-only service. Fitbit Premium in the 2024 experience added coaching, workouts, expanded insights and readiness-related guidance. Trials varied by product, account, market and date, so a trial should not be treated as a permanent specification or a guaranteed offer.
In the current app, Google says Fitbit Premium became Google Health Premium on May 19, 2026. Google also says eligible new or returning users may receive a three-month trial after updating to the Google Health app; eligibility varies. Read the Google Health transition information before relying on a current offer.
Phone compatibility
The current Charge 6 specification page lists Android 11 or newer and iOS 16.4 or newer. Requirements can differ by model and change with app updates, so check the current product specification for your phone. None of the Fitbit models covered here is a standalone cellular watch.
Which Fitbit should you buy?
- Best for running, cycling or hiking without a phone: Charge 6. Versa 4 or Sense 2 work if you prefer a larger screen.
- Best for sleep and passive wear: Inspire 3 for lightness and battery; Charge 6 if you want more sensors in a still-compact band.
- Best for stress sensing: Sense 2, because it adds cEDA body-response measurements.
- Best for a larger screen or older eyes: Versa 4 for value, Sense 2 if ECG and cEDA justify the price.
- Best for beginners or occasional exercise: Inspire 3.
- Best for small wrists or discreet clothing wear: Inspire 3; Luxe if styling is the priority.
- Best for iPhone owners: Charge 6, Versa 4 or Sense 2 all work with supported iPhones; choose by form factor and GPS rather than assuming Fitbit becomes an Apple Watch.
- Best if smartwatch functions matter most: consider a Pixel Watch, Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Garmin model instead of expecting Fitbit’s limited app platform to match them.
Alternatives to Fitbit
An Apple Watch SE or Series model is stronger for iPhone notifications, apps and safety tools. Google Pixel Watch combines Fitbit health features with a fuller Wear OS experience. Garmin vívoactive and Venu lines generally suit structured training and sports analytics. Samsung Galaxy Watch offers broader smartwatch integration for Android users. Oura Ring is better for screen-free sleep and recovery tracking, but not for live workout metrics or GPS. Current prices and availability for these alternatives require checking separately from the 2024 Fitbit comparison.
