Version 8.0.25061651 introduced monochrome icons and more detailed battery indicators, but the documented change was primarily visual—not a new audio or earbud-firmware upgrade.
That distinction matters in 2026: newer One UI releases can expose Buds controls directly in phone Settings, while Samsung’s current Galaxy Buds app listing focuses on Buds4 and newer.
What the One UI 8 Galaxy Buds update actually changed
The report published on June 20, 2025 covered model-specific manager components inside Galaxy Wearable, rather than a universal replacement for every Samsung earbuds app. Samsung’s affected packages were Galaxy Buds2 Manager and Galaxy Buds3 Pro Manager. The reported package version was 8.0.25061651. Samsung’s report described the release as an interface update for phones running One UI 8.0.
A redesigned Buds-control screen
- Icons changed from colored artwork to a monochrome style.
- Battery indicators became more detailed, matching the visual language of the One UI 8 battery widget.
- The Buds section in Galaxy Wearable received a cleaner, more integrated appearance.
This was a redesign of the earbud-control area, not evidence of a complete Galaxy Wearable overhaul.

Which earbuds and phones were covered?
Confirmed in the 2025 report
- Galaxy Buds2
- Galaxy Buds3 Pro
Availability was initially reported for devices running One UI 8.0. Samsung’s report mentioned possible later expansion to Galaxy Buds2 Pro, Galaxy Buds3 and other earbuds, but those were possibilities at the time—not confirmed support that should be assumed for every owner.
How the app model has changed
Samsung’s Google Play listing, updated April 21, 2026, describes the newer Galaxy Buds app as providing settings and status information for Galaxy Buds4 or newer. That is a later app arrangement and should not be confused with the 2025 Buds2 Manager or Buds3 Pro Manager packages.

How to check for the historical manager update
- Connect your Galaxy Buds to the Samsung phone.
- Open Galaxy Store.
- Tap Menu, then choose Updates.
- Find the model-specific Galaxy Buds manager listing.
- Tap Update, or select Update all.
Samsung may show the package under a model-specific manager name rather than “Galaxy Buds app.” On current phones, the listing may be replaced by a newer app or by controls in system Settings.
What the update does not promise
The June 2025 report documented no new earbud firmware release and no confirmed improvement to sound quality, active noise cancellation, microphone performance, battery life or Bluetooth stability. Install it for the refreshed controls and clearer status display, not as an audio-performance upgrade.

One UI 8.5 and newer Settings integration
Samsung’s software documentation for a U.S. Galaxy S25-series model says supported later builds can let users adjust Galaxy Buds settings without opening Galaxy Wearable. Depending on model, carrier and build, look under Settings → Connections → Bluetooth, then tap the gear beside connected Buds, or use the Buds controls presented directly in Settings. The documented system integration is related to Samsung’s broader move toward native Buds controls, but it is separate from the 2025 manager redesign. Samsung’s changelog does not establish identical labels on every Galaxy phone.
Do newer Buds features come with this UI update?
No. Features listed for newer Buds4 models depend on the earbud, Galaxy phone, One UI version, region and connection type. Samsung’s compatibility table includes Head Gestures, 24-bit/96kHz audio, HD Voice/Super Wideband calls, 360 Audio, Galaxy-only sound settings, Bixby or Gemini wake-up, Interpreter, Auto Switch, Auracast and supported firmware updating. Head Gestures require One UI 8.5 or higher for the Buds4 compatibility scenario; that requirement must not be retroactively attributed to the June 2025 interface update. See Samsung’s Buds4 compatibility document.

If the update does not appear
- Verify that the phone is running One UI 8 or a later eligible release.
- Connect the earbuds in Galaxy Wearable before checking Galaxy Store.
- Check both Galaxy Store updates and Google Play updates.
- Restart the phone and reconnect the Buds.
- Confirm that the correct model-specific manager is installed.
- Check permissions after updating. Samsung says permissions may be required on Android 12 or later and previously granted permissions can be reset after an update.
- If you use Buds4 or newer, look in phone Settings or the newer Galaxy Buds app instead of expecting the older manager listing.
A missing listing can therefore mean that the package is unavailable for your model or has been superseded—not necessarily that installation failed. Avoid sideloading an APK unless you have independently verified its source and compatibility.

The current app listing supports Android 12 or later with required permissions, but Samsung’s feature table shows that advanced functions vary sharply between Galaxy devices, other Android phones, iOS, PCs and game consoles. Basic Bluetooth audio may work on those platforms while Galaxy-only controls and features do not.

Should you upgrade your earbuds?
Keep functioning Buds2, Buds2 Pro or Buds3 Pro if the only attraction is the cleaner One UI 8 management screen. Consider newer Buds4-series hardware only when you specifically need newer device-dependent capabilities such as Head Gestures or the latest Galaxy integration. The interface refresh alone does not make older earbuds obsolete.
