Google’s Fitbit Premium benefit was a UK-specific Google One perk first reported in March 2024—not a free subscription for every Google One customer. Google now calls its newer health service Google Health Premium, and the legacy UK 2 TB Google One entitlement is scheduled to end after October 1, 2026. Check the benefits shown in your own account before changing plans or paying for a separate subscription.
What Google added—and who it was for
On March 6, 2024, reports described UK Google One subscribers being notified that Fitbit Premium was included with qualifying memberships, particularly the 2 TB plan. It was an account-level regional rollout, not a broad announcement that all Google One plans worldwide included the service. “Included” means available at no additional charge with an eligible plan while the entitlement applies. It does not mean the service is permanently free, that every plan qualifies, or that all family members receive a separate subscription. The available documentation does not establish universal family sharing for this benefit.
What changed by 2026
Google’s newer support pages use the name Google Health Premium and describe a service accessed through the Google Health app, including AI coaching and a Gemini-powered health coach when paired with a compatible Fitbit or Pixel Watch. For UK subscribers still on the older 2 TB arrangement, Google says the included entitlement ends after October 1, 2026, unless they upgrade to Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra. Google’s current documentation lists Google Health Premium with Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra. That current plan structure is distinct from the earlier UK Fitbit Premium rollout; availability and exact plan benefits can vary by country and change over time. How to check and activate the benefit
- Sign in to the Google Account that owns the Google One membership.
- Open Google One and go to Benefits or the membership-benefits area.
- Look for an offer labeled Fitbit Premium or Google Health Premium. If it is not shown, do not assume an unrelated account or plan qualifies.
- Select the offer and follow the on-screen activation steps, connecting the Fitbit or Google Health account requested.
- Before confirming, check which account will receive the benefit, the plan and renewal terms, and whether an existing subscription will continue billing.
Google says a health subscription associated with a different Google Account may need to be migrated or canceled before the included entitlement can be activated. Google’s activation guidance
Device and account requirements
- For the original Fitbit Premium offer: the documented rollout was limited to eligible UK Google One accounts; a Google One subscription on its own is not enough to establish eligibility.
- For current Google Health Premium: Google requires a Google Account and a compatible Fitbit or Pixel Watch. AI coaching uses the Google Health app and an internet connection, and the current experience is for people aged 18 or older.
- Availability varies: country, device, language, account type, plan, and timing can affect access and features. The current US availability of Google Health Premium does not make the original Fitbit Premium offer a global Google One benefit.
- Managed or family accounts: work, school, child, and family-group arrangements can have different eligibility or account controls. The available documentation does not confirm that every family member receives the benefit.

What the service includes
Historically associated with Fitbit Premium
Fitbit Premium has been associated with deeper sleep analysis and Sleep Profile, guided workouts and exercise audio or video, mindfulness content, stress-related information, wellness reports, and personalized recommendations. Content and features vary by country, device, language, and account. Existing subscribers: check for duplicate billing
If you already pay for Fitbit Premium or Google Health Premium, identify the billing channel and account before activating a Google One entitlement. The included offer does not guarantee that an existing paid subscription will be canceled, refunded, extended, or combined automatically.
- Apple billing: manage the subscription through Apple’s subscription system or follow Google’s stated support process.
- Google Play billing: check the subscription in Google Play.
- Direct Fitbit billing: review the Fitbit account or contact Fitbit support.
- Different Google Accounts: confirm which account owns the paid subscription and which owns Google One; account migration or cancellation may be needed.
Compare the renewal date and the effect of cancellation: access may continue through a paid term, but do not assume that it will stack with the included benefit. In the original 2024 rollout, some existing subscribers were reported to have had subscriptions canceled and refunded; that report is not a guarantee of how a current account or billing provider will handle yours. If the offer is missing
- Check that you are signed in to the account that manages the qualifying Google One membership.
- Confirm the country and plan shown in Google One; the historic Fitbit Premium benefit was UK-only and did not apply to every tier.
- Check whether the offer is now presented under Google Health Premium during the 2026 transition.
- For the current service, confirm you have a compatible Fitbit or Pixel Watch and meet the age and app requirements.
- If you are a family member rather than the plan manager, do not assume the manager’s benefits automatically attach to your account.
The offer displayed in your Google One account and its linked terms are the practical authority for your eligibility; older headlines describe an earlier rollout, not a promise for every present-day account.
Should you upgrade for the benefit?
The bundle makes the most sense if you already need Google One or Google AI Pro, own a compatible Fitbit or Pixel Watch, and expect to use the health features. It is a weak reason to upgrade if you only want inexpensive storage, lack compatible hardware, or would not use the coaching or wellness features. Do not move to a higher-priced plan solely because an old story called Fitbit Premium “free.”
It may also be a poor fit if you use a different wearable ecosystem, prefer not to connect health data with a Google account, or already pay for a standalone service without first checking whether the billing can be stopped. Compare the hardware compatibility, coaching and workout needs, subscription terms, and privacy expectations rather than treating the bundle as equivalent to other fitness subscriptions.
