The Graff Hallucination is a diamond-covered watch unveiled by jeweller Graff at Baselworld in 2014. Contemporary reports associated it with a US$55 million launch figure and described more than 110 carats of fancy-colour diamonds. That figure was reported at launch; the available reports do not establish that the watch sold for that amount. They also do not verify that it has a quartz movement.
What is the Graff Hallucination?
The Hallucination is a highly elaborate Graff creation built around rare coloured diamonds. At its 2014 Baselworld unveiling, JCK reported 110 carats total weight of fancy-colour diamonds in pink, yellow, blue and brown. An Australian Associated Press report carried by SBS the following day described more than 110 carats of rare coloured diamonds.
JCK credited the concept to Graff founder and chairman Laurence Graff, and reported that the diamonds came from his personal collection. Both JCK and SBS/AAP described the work as taking thousands of hours, involving gemologists, designers and craftspeople.
What does the $55 million figure mean?
JCK reported a $55 million price tag on March 27, 2014; SBS/AAP reported US$55 million on March 28. These are contemporary reports of the figure associated with the unveiling, not evidence of a completed sale or an independent appraisal.

The reported diamond weight helps describe the watch, but the reports do not provide a valuation method linking the carat total to the $55 million figure. The amount should therefore be treated as a dated launch-era claim, not as a current market value.
Is the Hallucination a quartz watch?
The reviewed 2014 reports do not specify a quartz movement, calibre or other movement details. JCK said it was unclear at the time whether the watch could tell time. Because the title’s “Quartz Watch” wording is not substantiated by these reports, it should not be treated as a verified technical specification.

Was it sold, and who owns it now?
The launch reports do not record a buyer paying US$55 million, and they do not establish the Hallucination’s later ownership. Their silence cannot confirm either that it was sold or that it remains unsold.

In SBS’s AAP-sourced report, Laurence Graff called the Hallucination “a sculptural masterpiece; a celebration of the miracle of coloured diamonds” and said it made his diamond dream a reality. These are the chairman’s promotional remarks, not an independent appraisal.
