Halliday’s first-generation DigiWindow glasses are real, but they are not full-lens augmented-reality glasses. A micro-LED module above the right eye sends a small monochrome image into the wearer’s vision, creating a discreet window roughly comparable to a 3.5-inch screen. Halliday announced them at $489 in January 2025; its current store lists the original model at $499 but marks it out of stock, while the newer Halliday G2 is the company’s main focus.
The short verdict
The original DigiWindow glasses are best understood as lightweight, camera-free notification and AI glasses with a small monocular display. They can show prompts, translations, reminders and other glanceable information, but they do not turn the entire lens into an AR canvas, anchor graphics to real-world objects or replace a phone. Their limited display area, phone dependence, crowdfunding history and uncertain retail availability make them a niche product rather than a general-purpose AR headset.
How Halliday’s DigiWindow works
Inside the frame, above the right eye, a tiny micro-LED projector emits light toward an optical module. That module redirects the light into the wearer’s eye, producing a floating-looking image in the upper-right part of the visual field. Halliday describes the result as equivalent to viewing a 3.5-inch screen at a short apparent distance; it is not a physical screen in the lens or a display touching the retina. The distinction matters:
- DigiWindow: a small, fixed, monocular viewing area that you see by glancing upward.
- Waveguide AR: optics in or attached to the lens guide light across a broader field of view, as used by Halliday G2 and other display glasses.
- Audio-only smart glasses: products such as standard Ray-Ban Meta models provide cameras, microphones, speakers and AI but no visual display.
Halliday says DigiWindow avoids light leakage and works with standard prescription lenses. Those are company claims, not independent optical test results, and visibility can depend on frame fit, eye position and lighting.

What the glasses can show and do
Halliday documents notifications, real-time translation, AI answers, meeting or presentation cheatsheets, reminders, audio memos, transcription, phone calls, music controls and navigation. Its software documentation describes two AI modes: a reactive assistant that answers direct questions and a proactive agent intended to listen during conversations and offer suggestions. Details are outlined in Halliday’s software feature documentation.
The glasses use a companion smartphone app and a control ring for taps, swipes and clicks. Full functionality therefore depends on a paired iOS or Android phone, Bluetooth, the Halliday app and whatever cloud or AI services a feature requires; the frame is not a self-contained computer.

What is established—and what is not
Halliday lists the first-generation frame at approximately 28.5 grams without lenses and claims up to 12 hours of battery life. It also claims readability in bright conditions, no visible light leakage and no rainbow effect. These figures and performance statements are manufacturer claims, not independently measured results.
Translation
A CES demonstration showed English subtitles while a representative spoke Chinese, with roughly a one-second delay reported by TechCrunch. That controlled demonstration does not establish accuracy or latency across languages, accents, background noise or poor connectivity. Translation should not be trusted for medical, legal, safety-critical or official communication.

Fit and visibility
The display must remain aligned with the wearer’s eye. Face shape, bridge and nose-pad geometry, prescription lenses and frame adjustment can affect how quickly the window is found and read. The available material does not establish whether progressive, photochromic or high-index prescription configurations are broadly available, nor whether every custom order is returnable. Halliday’s product listing warns that prescription orders can have special cancellation and return restrictions.
Privacy
A camera-free design limits photo and video capture, but it does not make the glasses automatically private. Microphones, audio memos, transcription and proactive listening raise consent and workplace-policy questions. The cited feature descriptions do not establish complete retention, upload or deletion rules, so users should check Halliday’s current privacy terms and obtain consent before recording or enabling conversation-aware features.

How the alternatives differ
Halliday G2
G2 is the direct successor for buyers who want Halliday’s camera-free approach with binocular waveguides, a 25.2-degree field of view and higher published display specifications. Its $499 figure is conditional and tied to a reservation, not the standard $599 MSRP.
Even Realities
Even Realities is a closer display-oriented comparison. Check current field of view, prescription support, controls, battery, software fees and stock before choosing; a current price is not established here.
Ray-Ban Meta
Ray-Ban Meta is the better fit for cameras, calls, music, microphones and audio AI. Standard models do not provide Halliday’s visual display, so the products are not direct substitutes.
RayNeo and full-display AR glasses
RayNeo and similar products target larger visual interfaces and richer AR features. Expect trade-offs in bulk, battery life, optics, software complexity and conventional-eyewear styling.

What to verify before buying
- Whether the exact model is in stock in your region.
- Prescription range, lens type, fit and return restrictions.
- Phone, app, Bluetooth and internet requirements for your intended features.
- How audio recording and proactive listening are controlled and governed by local consent rules.
- Whether the quoted battery life matches your workload rather than Halliday’s regular-use condition.
- Warranty, shipping, duties and replacement-part support.
