The 39mm model measures 11.85mm thick and 45.8mm from lug to lug, weighs 62g before a strap, and carries a 150m rating. It is a strong travel-and-daily option if you prefer setting the GMT hand rather than jumping the local hour, but it is not a flyer GMT and has no rotating dive bezel.
What the C63 Sealander GMT does
Inside is Sellita’s SW330-2 automatic GMT movement, beating at “28,800 per hour (4Hz)” according to Christopher Ward’s 2025 specification. The movement has a stated 56-hour power reserve, so a watch left off the wrist over a weekend should still be running when you put it back on, assuming it was sufficiently wound.
The fourth hand is set independently, while the 12-hour local-time hand remains linked to the conventional time display. That is the operating pattern of a caller or office GMT: you normally set home time on the 24-hour scale and adjust the additional hand when you need to follow another zone. A flyer GMT instead jumps the local hour hand independently, a distinction the C63 does not offer.
39mm case: dimensions and wrist fit
| Specification | C63 Sealander GMT (39mm) |
|---|---|
| Case diameter | 39mm |
| Thickness | 11.85mm |
| Lug-to-lug | 45.8mm |
| Case weight | 62g before strap |
| Strap width | 20mm |
| Water resistance | 15 ATM (150 metres) |
The 45.8mm lug span is more useful than diameter alone when judging fit. On a small or medium wrist it should sit with the lugs contained within the wrist’s top surface, while the 11.85mm height avoids the top-heavy feel of many thicker sports GMTs. The 62g case weight is also modest before adding a bracelet.

Choosing among 36mm, 39mm and 42mm
Christopher Ward’s refreshed Sealander GMT collection includes 36mm, 39mm and 42mm cases. The 36mm gives the least wrist presence and suits buyers who prefer vintage proportions or have a narrow wrist. The 42mm creates the broadest dial and strongest sports-watch presence. The 39mm is the middle ground: compact enough for everyday comfort while leaving the GMT scale legible. Lug-to-lug figures for the other sizes are not stated in the supplied specifications, so diameter alone should not be treated as a complete fit comparison.
Accuracy, winding and daily use
Christopher Ward lists the movement’s “Timing tolerance | -20/+20 seconds per day.” That is a published specification, not an independent laboratory result; actual performance varies with position, winding state, temperature and wear. The 4Hz beat rate gives the seconds hand a smooth sweep, and automatic winding keeps the watch charged during normal activity.

The fixed 24-hour bezel is useful for reading the independently set GMT hand at a glance, but it cannot be rotated to time a dive or a short interval. This makes the C63 a practical office-and-travel watch rather than a substitute for a dedicated dive GMT.
Water resistance: what 150m means
The rating is 15 ATM, or 150 metres, but it should be understood as a pressure rating under test conditions rather than a promise for every water activity. Christopher Ward says ratings are guidelines affected by heat, impacts and water-sport pressure. Its owner guidance warns that “arm movements during swimming and the sudden impact of diving and water sports will drastically increase the pressure the watch is under.” It also cautions that bathing, showering and sauna heat can affect seals.

- YN55 AUTOMATIC MOVEMENT – The YN55 mechanical caliber operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour and winds with wrist motion, giving the SN065 the engaging feel of a traditional self-winding watch.
- VINTAGE DIAL CHARACTER – Choose a matte black or gradient brown dial with mixed Roman and Arabic numerals. Luminous sword hands and a printed hexagonal logo keep the layout distinctive yet restrained.
- SAPPHIRE AND BLUE LUME – AR-coated sapphire glass resists everyday scratches and reduces distracting reflections. BGW9 blue lume on the hands and hour markers supports clearer reading after dark.
- BALANCED 40MM STEEL CASE – The 316L stainless steel case measures 40mm across, 48mm lug to lug and 12.5mm thick. A screw-down crown and case back support 100M water resistance for daily wear.
- QUICK-RELEASE LEATHER STRAP – Genuine leather with beige stitching complements the vintage dial and can be removed without a spring-bar tool. It tapers from 21mm to 18mm and ends in a signed steel buckle.
- Suitable use is best judged as routine water exposure within the condition of the seals, not by the number alone.
- Avoid sauna, hot baths and showers, where heat can alter seals and pressure conditions.
- Do not treat 150m as authorization for diving or high-impact water sports; impacts and rapid pressure changes can exceed the assumptions behind the rating.
- Have the seals checked after significant impacts and at service intervals, especially if you swim regularly.
Straps and bracelets
The 20mm lug interface gives the 39mm watch a broad range of replacement choices. When buying a 20mm watch strap from a marketplace, verify both the lug width and the strap length; a listing can be 20mm wide yet too long or short for your wrist. Also check whether the end shape is designed for straight lugs or a specific fitted profile.
Leather
Leather is the most formal option and the least suitable for repeated immersion. It gives the watch a dressier, lighter visual character but will show wear faster if exposed to sweat or water.

Rubber
Rubber is the practical hot-weather and poolside choice, with easier cleaning and better resistance to moisture than leather. It gives the Sealander a more overtly sporty appearance.
Bader bracelet
The Bader bracelet is the sportier metal option. It adds weight and a more integrated tool-watch look; its listed UK price is £1,190, with regional equivalents shown by T3 at €1,560 and a market-specific dollar price.

Bracelet comfort depends on wrist shape and adjustment range, so a leather or rubber version may be preferable if low weight is the priority.

Who should buy the C63 Sealander GMT?
It suits you if
- You want an automatic Swiss GMT for travel, work and daily wear rather than a specialist dive watch.
- You prefer a compact 39mm case and moderate thickness.
- You are comfortable adjusting a fourth GMT hand instead of jumping the local hour.
- You value interchangeable 20mm straps and several bracelet choices.
Look elsewhere if
- You need a flyer GMT that changes local time independently when you land.
- You require a rotating bezel for elapsed-time or dive timing.
- You want to rely on the 150m number for diving, sauna use or high-impact water sports.
- You need an independently verified accuracy result rather than the published -20/+20 seconds-per-day tolerance.
Verdict
The C63 Sealander GMT’s appeal is balance: a 39mm, 11.85mm-thick case, useful 150m rating, 56-hour reserve and a familiar Sellita SW330-2 package at a relatively approachable 2026 price. Its caller-GMT layout is excellent for monitoring home time and a second zone, but travelers who want the local hour to jump independently should choose a flyer GMT instead. Among the three case sizes, the 39mm is the safest all-rounder; select 36mm for a smaller, quieter presence or 42mm for maximum wrist presence.
