The Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT is an aviation-oriented tool watch built around a clear three-time-zone display: its orange 24-hour hand tracks Zulu (UTC), its Snowflake hour hand shows local time and jumps in one-hour increments, and its bidirectional 24-hour bezel lets you read a third zone. Tudor developed it for French Naval Aviation, whose operations use Zulu time.
How the Pelagos FXD GMT displays three time zones
Read the watch in layers. The orange hand completes one rotation every 24 hours and points to Zulu time, the aviation term for UTC. The angular Snowflake hour hand shows local time on the usual 12-hour scale. For a third time zone, rotate the bidirectional 24-hour bezel relative to the orange hand; the bezel’s shifted scale gives that hand another time-zone reference.
Changing local time without losing Zulu time
Tudor describes the local-hour hand as jumping in one-hour increments via the crown. That lets a wearer adjust local time when crossing time zones without stopping or resetting the orange reference hand. The date at 3 o’clock is synchronized with the jumping hour hand and changes as local time crosses midnight in either direction. These are Tudor’s stated operating features, not independent test results.
Why Tudor made an aviation FXD
Tudor says the Pelagos FXD platform began in 2021 with a specialist unit of the French Navy; “FXD” refers to its robust fixed strap bars. In 2024, the family expanded to French Naval Aviation, for which Zulu time is operationally relevant. The aviation version’s caseback bears the Aéronautique navale winged-anchor-and-star emblem and the “M.N.24” engraving, which Tudor says stands for Marine Nationale 2024; the final two digits vary by year. See Tudor’s Pelagos FXD GMT description for the manufacturer’s account.

Case, strap and movement specifications
The current Tudor model page identifies reference M2542G267NU-0002. Tudor’s 2024 English launch sheet uses reference 2542G247NU, so those source-specific references should not be treated as interchangeable listing identifiers. Current specifications describe a satin-brushed 42 mm titanium case, 12.7 mm thick, with 22 mm lug width and fixed strap bars. Tudor’s 2024 sheet gives a 52 mm lug-to-lug measurement. These dimensions describe the watch; they cannot establish how it will fit a particular wrist.

What the design means in practice
The fixed bars are a defining part of the FXD case construction and mean the supplied one-piece strap is not attached like a standard two-piece strap through conventional spring bars. The watch is therefore best understood on its supplied strap configuration; the available sources do not establish compatibility with any particular aftermarket strap. Its titanium case, 200 m rating, and 24-hour bezel are stated specifications, not evidence here of comparative performance against another GMT watch.

Quick Recap
Rank #4
- Soft Fluoroelastomer Strap: Compared to ordinary rubber straps, fluoroelastomer offers higher chemical stability, along with better aging and weather resistance. With a higher density than traditional rubber or silicone straps on the market, it is softer, more skin-friendly, and features waterproof, durable, dust-free, and flexible properties.
- Customizable Fit: A trimmable design allows the strap to be cut to the most suitable size, ensuring a comfortable and secure fit for any wrist circumference.
- Adjustable for Wrist Size: Suitable for wrist sizes ranging from 5.5” to 10”. The total strap length can be adjusted to a maximum of 204 mm and a minimum of 94 mm (excluding the buckle length). The rubber can be trimmed up to 55 mm per side for an optimal fit. Additionally, fine-tuning is possible through the precisely finished buckle.
- Installation Instructions: The package includes a spring bar removal tool. Remove the existing strap and thread the new strap loop through the original lug holes at the top. Then, pass it through the buckle and adjust to the desired position.
