What does calibre 8200 offer?
Goulard describes calibre 8200 as a Japan-made automatic movement with a central rotor, 21 jewels and a 3 Hz frequency. It drives hours, minutes, seconds and the day-date display, can be wound by hand, and has a reserve of about 42 hours in the review. That means the watch can keep running for roughly a day and a half after it is fully wound and then left unworn, though actual running time can vary.

If a particular tolerance or reserve is important to you, use the specification for the exact reference and market you are considering. Mechanical accuracy also varies with conditions and use; the figures are not a promise that every individual watch will keep time at the stated limit in every situation.
How do the case and materials affect everyday use?
The review gives the case dimensions as 40 mm in diameter and 10.7 mm thick. It describes polished stainless steel, mineral crystals on both sides, a screwed transparent caseback, a push-pull crown and 50 m water resistance. Citizen’s European listing for NY4058-79LC independently specifies a 40 mm steel case and 5 bar water resistance.

- Crystal: Mineral crystal is a practical cost-conscious choice, but it is not the material advantage a buyer seeking a more scratch-resistant crystal may want. The display back is also mineral crystal, according to the review.
- Caseback: The transparent back lets you see the movement. Goulard questions how much appeal that offers when the movement is an entry-level calibre; whether that view is a plus is a matter of taste.
- Water resistance: A 50 m / 5 bar rating is the stated specification, not a guarantee that the watch is suitable for every aquatic activity. Goulard considers it somewhat limiting for a do-anything watch, so buyers should check Citizen’s guidance for the exact reference and avoid assuming it is a dedicated swimming or diving watch.
Is it a good first automatic or business-capable watch?
It can be a sensible entry point if what you want is an automatic movement, a day-date readout and a conventional steel-watch look. The day and date add everyday information without changing the watch’s restrained appearance. The review’s positive view of the proportions and legibility makes the NY4058 a plausible office or business-casual choice, while its conservative styling can also pair with weekend attire.
It is a less natural fit if your priority is a watch that can take rough daily wear without much thought. The mineral crystal and 50 m water-resistance rating are the main practical trade-offs identified in the review. Consider whether the mechanical character and day-date utility matter more to you than those limitations before choosing it as your only watch.

The review reports a 19 mm lug width for the series. Goulard says the black-dial NY4058-01EE’s supplied faux-crocodile strap might benefit from replacement, while cautioning that a high-quality replacement could cost a substantial fraction of the watch’s price. No particular aftermarket strap was tested or verified for compatibility here, so confirm fit for the exact reference and account for replacement cost before treating a strap change as a simple upgrade.
